Detailed analysis of the arabic word `ma`aazif ` shows that it refers to musical instruments, the sounds of those musical instruments and singing with the accompaniment of instruments.

See, this is one of the reasons no one takes Muslims seriously. Even the intelligent ones are unable to progress worrying about if music is harem or not. You don't have to wonder what the Dark Ages were like in Europe, cause some of us are still there. Muslims in U.S. and Europe, we are the ying/yang, resist/embrace both sides.
Ma'shaallah you are one of the oldest and most talented English Nasheed singers. ive been listening to you since i was 2 years old. im 16 now and your still one of my top singers.
@firoz944 some scholars say it is, some say it isnt. Because pianos and guitars weren't around in the prophets time, we can't know for sure. it is for you to make your own decision. Personally i feel this music is ok as it is calm, and doesn't cause you to lose control of yourself like heavy music might do

brother dawud wharnsby has such a beautiful voice...truely a gift from allah.
i know he was a singer...but after his inclination towards islamic teachings during mid 90s...i think he started singing nasheeds without music...
and mashallah has such a beautiful voice that he doesnt even need a guitar or piano...
sometimes he used duf, which as allowed in islam
lately, he has sung such nice tracks, such as everyday, midnight, prophet for profit n so on...but he has used music. :(
