Just to set the record straight, Golbez was never really a villain to begin with because he was mind controlled. As a consequence of mind control, what he did was not his responsibility, what Golbez seemingly did as a result of mind control was Zemus' doing all along, as mind control makes the victim an extension of another's will. The reason he fought Zemus at the end was because that was his true self acting.

Golbez because his mother died giving birth to Cecil, and Kain because Rosa loved Cecil more. Golbez was forcibly freed by Fusoya. Kain only had the leash slackened by Golbez. He still harbored strong resentment, only he was still being mind controlled.

Zeromus never had any real plot-line, except near the end where he is revealed as the true mastermermind behind the real, and should have been main villain.

You can ride on the bandwagon with all of the other FF6 lovers, but Golbez was definitely the best FF villain ever.

Firstly, Zemus did have a plot-line before the end.

Golbez I believe was recieving a message from him.

That or my memory is faded.

Second, Golbez is one of the few villains that repented of his ways. A true villain is unrepentant. Golbez tried to redeem himself. It would have been fitting if he died trying. That would be a true atonement for his weakness to resist the WILL of ZEMUS.

As long as evil exists in the hearts of men....Zemus will live on.

Kefka was the epitome of everything I accepted but then rejected. (read that sentence again very carefully so you can realize how probable it is to have a real life Kefka)

So Kefka is definitely more REAL as a villain. Now as a person...Golbez and Kefka are actually quite realistic in comparison to all other villains. Sephiroth was just....omfg, the only thing that comes close is an enviromentalist....

I never had that problem- generally I had Rosa spam Cure 4 every other turn so my cast order was this (Green hair bitch included)

Holy->Holy->Holy->Cure 4 All->Attack(Cecil)->Jump(Cain) Rinse repeat. Edge was usually dead because he is fucking useless.

I'd also have Cecil pop a Cure 2 when needed.

Big Bang does WTF damage to all characters, and can kill them if they're not high enough level (it's like Neo ExDeath's Almageist, but more painful).

Supernova as far as I know hits for 15/16 of your current HP and gives you HP Leak. Not dangerous if you're not bruised as hell.

Here's the problem with that. Kefka versus Zeromus alone, would have a decent chance of getting killed.

But you are forgetting that in final fantasy three, Kefka "summoned the strongest powers in the universe" to fight for him. Therefore, if Zeromus had been part of Kefka's world, he'd have been commanded by Kefka. Thus having Kefka AND Zeromus to fight.

Kefka commanded the powers of the esper Gods. Three of them. He never used them, except to summon, in the final battle.

Well, by that thinking we can consider everything Golbez did as stuff Zemus did. That means he killed the King of Baron, had a minion take his place, used Baron to ravage innocent Kingdoms (lots more innocent people than Sephiroth killed), took over Yang and Kain's minds, kill Edge's parents, and bring about a war machine that nearly destroyed Humanity before becoming the embodiment of hate itself.

As for ultimate FF villain, I say that's Kefka.
