FFX was a good game and a remake is not a bad idea. Though VII or VI would have been even better. And to be completely honest, VIII is my personal favorite and I would have enjoyed that too. I also liked that you mentioned Super Mario RPG, I dont have a SNES anymore but I could never bring myself to part with that game lol.
If the do FF7 I'd say it will be a brand new game ... Imagine the money they will use on it. Be patient it will come this is a cash cow, probably to fund something like 7. At the end of the day FFX is my fav game of all time so I'm happy. Can't wait to get the Plat.
FFX looks good in the HD era (decent.) Now, if SE were to bring VI or VII to the HD era, it would look very sub par. I know, because many PS1 games that were released on the PC had higher resolution, but it was jarring against the low textured backgrounds. Keep the Ps1 games to ps1 systems.
I have FF 7 and FFX, haven't played 7 yet, but I love X. It's an amazing game and my favorite. Even when I play 7, It would be freaking hard to top X imo since it also has nostalgic value to me.

IMO they also chose FFX because they only need to enhance graphics. all the voice tracks have already been recorded. If they had done FFVI or FFVII they wouldn't have had to record all new voice tacks for every character.

I loved FF 7, I really liked 8, 9 10, 13 and 13-2..but I can kinda see why they didn't choose 7. 7 is just too dated, they'd honestly have to make all new models because the polygons are just too dated. Also, 10 introduced voice acting, and they'd have to add that in, because it would suck to go backwards in technology. But all in all, 7 woulda been amazing, 10 will be good too.

Square doesn's make Final Fantasy for our generation anymore in my opinion it ended with X. If you haven't played Dragon Quest VIII, I highly recommend it. Atleast until the Last Story comes out.

I do not know if anyone is aware of this, but the original team for FFVII mentioned before that they are waiting to finish all their products so that they can all get together once again to remake this game.
I will be honest, even though FFVII is not necessarily up in my favorite Final Fantasy games, I would also like to see it remade. I sure as hell know that FFIX will not be remade at any given time what so ever.

They will evenually do a remake of Final Fantasy 7, there's no question of that as like what you said before the sheer amount of fans who are constantly asking them to do it. There's far too much money to be made for it not to happen. Square Enix wouldn't have to lift a finger to advertise the game as social media from the fans would explode. I too would love to see this remake happen, as long as it was in the right creative hands, but unfortunately I don't think Square Enix are up to the task.

It'll have been the easier as well as the cheaper option to do, rather than go completely back to the drawing board and design Final Fantasy 7 from scratch. It's all about the money, as well as the timing for Square Enix.
IMO Final Fantasy X is the best... granted it was the first one that I beat, but I really got sucked into the story. I just really want to play this game again... My PS2 is broken so I can't, so this is great. I never really got into FF7. My brother borrowed it from a friend and I played bits and pieces of it. I was just too young to understand I guess xD
final fantasy VII should not be remade :( i think it would lose its classic feel to it, as much as i would love to see it, i dont think it would have been a good move in hindsight.
Final Fantasy X is undergoing a remake Yoshinori Kitase who is 1 of the original producers of Final Fantasy X confirmed it himself saying that it's still in the very early stages of development earlier this month.
I've heard rumors that they are using the Crystal tools engine (Final Fantasy XIII's game engine) so that would imply that this isn't just a port (like the god of war collections) but I'm not sure if that would be possible (like starting from scratch) in the time frame (supposed to come out sometime in Japan 2012) but they could have been working on this for some time in secret...
FFX is the most beast thing I've ever played. At leave VII is in the PS store, I can't find FFX anywhere... I bought 7,8 and 9 from the PS store and they weren't as good as X.

I am super excited for the Final fantasy 10 remake, it was the first final fantasy game i ever played and it was awesome. I mean when i first heard about it I thought " final fantasy x graphics still aren't outdated so why are they remaking it? " but afterwards i just got excited again and didn't care. Square-enix already stated that they are not touching FInal fantasy 7 because it is such a classic. They are worried that if they would remake it, they would ruin the entire game, and i guess you out of all people can see that happening.
If you want my opinion, FFX sucked! Most of the characters were annoying, the character and costume designs were rediculous, the storytelling techniques were lazy, the plot is full of holes, and the villains were aweful! Seymour dresses up like a homosexual pope, his hearcut should be outlawed, and he failed to stop you more times than TeamRocket. Sin was just a flying Godzilla, and Yu Yevon was an oversized bug and the final battle with him was easier than farting! FF6&7 were WAAAY better!
@LegodzillaFan Well considering this is Final Fantasy you're not gonna see fancy outfits that are similar to games today. This was 10 years ago and the outfits are meant be abnormal. The storytelling was actually phenomenal. The story line is what made everyone like FFX. The characters can be annoying at times, but the different personalities is the whole point of making the game unique. It's not fun having characters that are dull and the same. FFX is unique simple

Previous FF games had much better characters, and outside of some brooding emos from the PS1 era, the characters had different personalities. I stand by what I said! FF6&7 were WAAAAAY better games! @gatesofdarkness I disagree with FFX being better than FFVII. The game had a great storyline but a lot of other things about it were not so good. It was very linear, and Blitzball is probably the most tedious and time consuming minigame in RPG history.

Man. I still play ff7. N I went n picked up ff10 and 10-2 today. Never plays 10-2 just 10. But I'd love a ff7 remake. Even if it was jus up-to-date graphics/cutscenes. Maybe a few more sidequests. I liked 13 not a lot but t was okay. But unless 13-2 gets good reviews, I won't really be waiting for it. Just my opinion, still happy for 10 reamp

Dare I go on? The Sphere Grid was awesome. Anima was the shiiiit! Yuna's story was gut wrenching. Dude, if you didn't feel this game on the inside, you ain't got no SOUL! Nemesis was well worth all the damn monsters I had to catch to whoop 10 Milli worth of HP out of his ass! Zanarkand was surreal! Amazing!. The music? Uematsu did the score of his LIFE on that game. I've been playing FF for a LONG time. Almost since the beginning. IMO, they've done nothing better than FF7 and FFX. Nothing.
I'm stoked beyond belief. Yes, FF gamers of the world would LOVE to see FF7. But it ain't happening. They're NOT going to do it. Why? Hellifikno, but they're not. What they are gonna do is give us STUNNING HD FFX - and no bullshit, FFX was a beautfiul game to begin with. Compelling characters, outrageously crafted locales, and raging narcissist bosses. In my experimentation to see which is the better game. I took a couple of friends- they don't mind playing old games, many old games are their favs- and had them play both games. FFX was the better game in their opinions and they never played a FF title before. FF7 didn't hook them, it may have with fans in the past being the first 3D game. The mako generators and experiments threw them off as unnatural, as well as the characters look. IMO FF7's storyline is very very similar to FF6.
Other reasons why past final fantasy fans hate FFX is its indifference, saying its a bad game is a poor excuse, besides the fact of voice synching with the characters, which wasn't the actors fault to begin with. Fans were so accustomed to the original FF development plot, they saw FFX as a horrible game, such as ATB being removed, having the plot not being unpredicted and random, etc. FFX really risked what it did, which I took it as an art form. I dare to say that FFX was the most different FF
I can understand why people think FF7 is the best FF in the series, but I still agree that FFX is indeed the better title game. Fans seem to hold nostalgia as if nothing else can compete with. It's similar to OoT and Skyward, fans would argue that OoT is better than Skyward Sword, but that simply isn't true. Skyward dominates OoT in all fields, its simply that Ocarina of Time has the most "original classic" sense in all of its gaming fields, but in terms of being a better game, that's about it.
ffx was the first ff game that i played and i loved it SOO MUCH so im really happy that thier choosing to remake it, i never played 7, so i don't know what im missing with that not being reamde, but im defienately excited about X coming in HD! :D

FF7 is a good game especially for it's time, it only gets hate because of all the rabid fans calling it the best game in the world or some shit, that and there's some people who just think it's cool to hate on popular things.
lol ff 7 is overrated? wtf is the world coming too... screenplay was way too cheesy and awkward in ff10 and there weren't nearly as many monsters, characters, locations, side quests and twists and turns in plot. Now before you start hating final fantasy 10 is my second favourite ff's, beat it 4 times and is one of my all time favourites, but chirping final fantasy 7, the best game ever made, is just way out of line.

Your'e so right, out of all developers Square Enix especially probably has the most games that they should had definitely made by now. Just to name a few: Kingdom Hearts 3, FF7 remake, Versus 13 and The World Ends With You sequel.
Heres my thoughts on this. Honestly i'm kinda hyped for this, i think it was a SEMI good idea. I loved final fantasy 7, but i also loved final fantasy 10. To me it was a classic and a game that i loved so much, i bought the international version from japan and a japanese PS2. i love that game so much. But at the same time, i would've loved a Final Fantasy 7 remake. But either way. it'll be worth the money to actually replay final fantasy 10 on my PS3 and my vita. to me, i'm hyped.

I severely doubt we'll see FF VII on PS3, or perhaps even the gen after that. When you think about it, the sheer amount of text, character models, music, locations, monsters, weapons, cutscenes, and whatever else for that game are staggering. I'm also thinking that rendering a massive world map like that when flying an airship (in full HD remember) would be close to impossible on this gen.
I read a rumour that Square Enix is going to remake either Final Fantasy VII or Dragon Quest VII for 3DS. If it is a FFVII remake then it will probably be like the FFIII and IV remakes on the DS. The game would still be played from a top down perspective(which would probably make the experience very nostalgic for fans) but everything would be updated to 3DS specs. As much as I love Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG, I REALLY want a new Secret of Evermore, I thought it was quirky and fun

A distinct possibility. Also there is the possibility they want to beef up the minigames too. Square's whole thing with 'no more non-mainstream' titles? I can see disgruntled members of those old coding teams pushing to work on the minigames instead. Like the guys who did ergheiz might make it so you can control Cloud similarly in battle arena, einhander guys might beef up sub game, or they'll make the snowboard part more SSX-y, since they can't do that shit on standalone games.
@kvmairforce Every FF is it's own experience and everyone has their own favorite, I think its very counter productive for fans to be fighting against each other. I think the biggest slap in the face is that fans have been wanting FFVII and FFVI to be remade for years.
I loved Final Fantasy 7 as much as the next guy, but if you remake VII, then we could be seeing a problem with innovative titles... Sure, Square only wants to make those mainstream games now, but if Square decides to remake 7, it's like saying Kojima should remake mg1 or we have to see the original Castlevania with 3d graphics... The industry is filled with remakes galore, remakes don't exactly help the direction of the industry to make innovative titles, unless it's reverse psychology...

This is the first I've heard of this. I agree that it would be cool to play a good game like Final Fantasy 10 on the go, but I also agree that Square Enix get off their lazy butts & do a remake of Final Fantasy 6 thru Final Fantasy 9. All of those games were awesome. I even own hard copies of FF7, FF8, FF9 along with FFAnthology which are hard to find nowadays.

I do not know if anyone is aware of this, but the original team for FFVII mentioned before that they are waiting to finish all their products so that they can all get together once again to remake this game.
I will be honest, even though FFVII is not necessarily up in my favorite Final Fantasy games, I would also like to see it remade. I sure as hell know that FFIX will not be remade at any given time what so ever.

They will evenually do a remake of Final Fantasy 7, there's no question of that as like what you said before the sheer amount of fans who are constantly asking them to do it. There's far too much money to be made for it not to happen. Square Enix wouldn't have to lift a finger to advertise the game as social media from the fans would explode. I too would love to see this remake happen, as long as it was in the right creative hands, but unfortunately I don't think Square Enix are up to the task.

I've heard rumors that they are using the Crystal tools engine (Final Fantasy XIII's game engine) so that would imply that this isn't just a port (like the god of war collections) but I'm not sure if that would be possible (like starting from scratch) in the time frame (supposed to come out sometime in Japan 2012) but they could have been working on this for some time in secret...

I am super excited for the Final fantasy 10 remake, it was the first final fantasy game i ever played and it was awesome. I mean when i first heard about it I thought " final fantasy x graphics still aren't outdated so why are they remaking it? " but afterwards i just got excited again and didn't care. If you want my opinion, FFX sucked! Most of the characters were annoying, the character and costume designs were rediculous, the storytelling techniques were lazy, the plot is full of holes, and the villains were aweful! Seymour dresses up like a homosexual pope, his hearcut should be outlawed, and he failed to stop you more times than TeamRocket. Sin was just a flying Godzilla, and Yu Yevon was an oversized bug and the final battle with him was easier than farting! FF6&7 were WAAAY better!

The storytelling was actually phenomenal. The story line is what made everyone like FFX. Dare I go on? The Sphere Grid was awesome. Anima was the shiiiit! Yuna's story was gut wrenching. Dude, if you didn't feel this game on the inside, you ain't got no SOUL! Nemesis was well worth all the damn monsters I had to catch to whoop 10 Milli worth of HP out of his ass! Zanarkand was surreal! Amazing!. The music? Uematsu did the score of his LIFE on that game. I've been playing FF for a LONG time. Almost since the beginning. IMO, they've done nothing better than FF7 and FFX. Nothing.

In my experimentation to see which is the better game. I took a couple of friends- they don't mind playing old games, many old games are their favs- and had them play both games. FFX was the better game in their opinions and they never played a FF title before. FF7 didn't hook them, it may have with fans in the past being the first 3D game. The mako generators and experiments threw them off as unnatural, as well as the characters look. IMO FF7's storyline is very very similar to FF6.

Other reasons why past final fantasy fans hate FFX is its indifference, saying its a bad game is a poor excuse, besides the fact of voice synching with the characters, which wasn't the actors fault to begin with. Fans were so accustomed to the original FF development plot, they saw FFX as a horrible game, such as ATB being removed, having the plot not being unpredicted and random, etc. FFX really risked what it did, which I took it as an art form. I can understand why people think FF7 is the best FF in the series, but I still agree that FFX is indeed the better title game. Fans seem to hold nostalgia as if nothing else can compete with. It's similar to OoT and Skyward, fans would argue that OoT is better than Skyward Sword, but that simply isn't true. Skyward dominates OoT in all fields, its simply that Ocarina of Time has the most "original classic" sense in all of its gaming fields, but in terms of being a better game, that's about it.

Heres my thoughts on this. Honestly i'm kinda hyped for this, i think it was a SEMI good idea. I loved final fantasy 7, but i also loved final fantasy 10. To me it was a classic and a game that i loved so much, i bought the international version from japan and a japanese PS2. i love that game so much. But at the same time, i would've loved a Final Fantasy 7 remake. But either way. it'll be worth the money to actually replay final fantasy 10 on my PS3 and my vita. to me, i'm hyped.

When you think about it, the sheer amount of text, character models, music, locations, monsters, weapons, cutscenes, and whatever else for that game are staggering. I'm also thinking that rendering a massive world map like that when flying an airship (in full HD remember) would be close to impossible on this gen.

I read a rumour that Square Enix is going to remake either Final Fantasy VII or Dragon Quest VII for 3DS. If it is a FFVII remake then it will probably be like the FFIII and IV remakes on the DS. The game would still be played from a top down perspective(which would probably make the experience very nostalgic for fans) but everything would be updated to 3DS specs. As much as I love Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG, I REALLY want a new Secret of Evermore, I thought it was quirky and fun

A distinct possibility. Also there is the possibility they want to beef up the minigames too. Square's whole thing with 'no more non-mainstream' titles? I can see disgruntled members of those old coding teams pushing to work on the minigames instead. Like the guys who did ergheiz might make it so you can control Cloud similarly in battle arena, einhander guys might beef up sub game, or they'll make the snowboard part more SSX-y, since they can't do that shit on standalone games.

I agree that it would be cool to play a good game like Final Fantasy 10 on the go, but I also agree that Square Enix get off their lazy butts & do a remake of Final Fantasy 6 thru Final Fantasy 9. All of those games were awesome. I even own hard copies of FF7, FF8, FF9 along with FFAnthology which are hard to find nowadays.
