  • good game indeed

  • lol ur funny

  • Great review. This game looks awesome. The best part I think is the creepy sombre horror atmosphere, unlike the anime style action atmosphere in the newer Castlevania games. You should do more N64 reviews. I love N64.

  • they didn`t censor the word god in CV:OOE for the DS

  • AVGN Did the review for the first one because he usually looks at bad games.

  • @10samm10

I did this game long before he did. But I agree CV 64 terrible game. LOD great game. I was just surprised when James did this game and thought that LOD was just new levels, when in fact the game is how Vania 64 was suppose to be.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Does this game include the entire CV64 as well, with all the cutscenes? Is there blood and gore in the North American version? I want to get this game now.

  • I liek this guy :D he gives interesting facts and has an open mind about video games. Not so negative like a douchebag as other reviews are. Cool vid subed.

  • @emnity33

    awesome thanks!

  • I wish they released this castlevania for download or something....maybe an hd remake? I'd love to play this, back in the day I only got to play castlevania 64 but never did play this one

  • one thing i feel i should say:

You mention that the 64 titles were removed from the Castlvania Canon. I feel i should let you know that Legacy of Darkness was added back into the Main canon.

When Konami said they were making Castlevania Judgment, they said they were only going to add Canon Characters. and when they announced Cornell as a playable character, they also announced that C:LD was Canon again

  • This game is the absolute reason I play castlevania TO THIS VERY DAY. I never cared for the series until I decided at random to pick up a copy of this after being impressed by a commercial advertising it back in the n64 days and I fell in love. I've replayed this game more than any other game I've ever owned and even bought another 64 system about 2 yrs ago just to add it to my permamnent collection. And I've owned every castlevania on all systems every since this one.

  • When I was little; Frankenstein scared the s*** out of me. Now I'm going through it again on hard for the first time with Reignheart. Then I was like "Holy s***. They turned this into a boss on hard!" O_O What's more is that he doesn't stop bothering you after. He is stubborn.

  • If we were meant to have only one Castlevania on N64, it will be Legacy of Darkness!

  • @Toady120

    Legacy of Darkness is better.

  • @kNIGHTWING01 Yes, but why is it so expensive and rare? I want to own it!

  • Frankenstien in this game was originally called "The Gardener" which made it more scarier. (the guy freaked me out when I was a child, too!)

  • The worst castlevania ever.

  • i really use to love this game and still love it so people who say this sucks dont know shit about this game they'r propebly butt fucked nostalgics and should shut their fucking gobs

  • @erwillrockn wouldn't nostalgics like it more than anyone else?

  • 2:40 I alwase remember the AVGN saying "I was ready to have my b*lls blown off by awesomeness again" *The moon duplicates then they explode*

  • I didn't have any problem with the CV64 through the Garden, but in Legacy where you have to guide him, I used like 30-60 mins to find the way out.

  • I thought Renon was an ingenius game element. Would love to see him return in a new CV game.

  • Actually there is one song from other Castlevanias that can be found here: a remixed version of Dance of Illusions.

  • One thing I noted about the music is that it does use the Belmont Theme, and Bloody Tears. However, they are sub-melodies and work like a fugue. Note how the intro uses Bloody Tears in the sacrifice scene (listen to the organ), and the Ship of Lost Souls, it has the Belmont theme in the intro of the song.

  • Are the stories from castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness related to each other? are they sequels or just different story lines! I never even knew there was a different Castlevania game other than Castlevanis 64 for the Nintendo 64!

  • @jcdebbs Legacy of Darkness is a Special Edition version of Castlevania 64. It featured some additional characters and a new storyline that takes place 8 years prior to the events of the original CV64.

  • @razorfett147 If we were meant to have only one Castlevania on N64, it will be Legacy of Darkness

  • can you turn into a werewolf at anytime in the game or do you have to unlock that ability?

  • You have the ability from the beginning.

  • @AtariSlinger ok thanks

  • is legacy of darkness canon in the main timeline..

  • hope they remake this game or just simply port them to the PS3 or the Wii..

    come on !!!

  • @xMandalorex remake would be best for PS3 and 360, for the Wii, possibly they could always put it on the wii shop though

  • Dont know how I missed this game back in the day , it looks terrific

The N64 was a great consol , probably my fav , it was a great time for NINTENDO gamers , LOZ OOT , MAJORAS MASK , BANJOKAZOOIE , GOLDENEYE , TUROK 1&2 , DIDDY KONG RACING all classic games

Cant help thinking that NINTENDO hasnt been the same since those glory days - these days they always seem to be chasing the pack

  • Castlevania 64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness have both been put back in the timeline with the release of Castlevania Judgment. I wanna get both games.

  • Trust me.. Havin played Castlevania 64.. but not the other yet.. They are Definately worth the time if u like adventure games n have patience to work on them.

  • i want this for the VC!

  • actually I'm pretty sure that these games have been returned to the canon. this is such a cool name!

  • I only played Castlevania64, but i don't exactñy remember the garden maze to be all that hard, pretty easy actually. But i do remember i never stayed to fight frank"the thing"stein, he was waaayyy to scary and i was still 10 years old ¬.¬

  • i disagree, i dont think malus was dracula the entire game, if u listen to him he says they raided his village and they were looking for a certain child, then toward the end of the game he gets red eyes and begins acting strange, i think dracula possessed him half way through the game because i remember them saying dracula being too weak and need a child or something like that

  • Read his name...if you know Latin...there's a reason his name is MALus...

  • its game is epic, its one of the greatest games in the history, i love it and i proud of have it ^^

  • @kanislupus25 well zelda ocrina of time is the grestest game of all time you feel salty

  • @ironhide2919 I said "one of the greatest games in history" you retard

  • @kanislupus25 i know castlevania lod is a epic game its my third favriote game in history number 2 is..... goldeneye

  • first time i ever played this i didn't know i could go wolf form til the dual towers lol

  • How do you lock on??

  • b4 i forget again richter belmonts theme is on the title screen

  • oh and i think blood tears is play in the opening.

  • Bloody Tears IS in the game, more than once. Probably my favorite version of it too.

  • their is some castlevania music in this game.

beggining: is played in the burning village scene

dark desires: plays during boss fights

dance of illusions: i heard in the old man dracula boss fight

  • Ash from Evil Dead! that's cool

  • what? this is a 1999-year game ? I know it's for 64 ,but there were other games released in the same year with outstanding graphics(in that time) such as turok 2 seeds of evil(by the way 1998) with the expansion pack and an endless map!

  • He's talking about how much of a gem this game is and all you can think about are the graphics? Graphics don't make a game and if has bad graphics, but is still good then it's still good.

  • i know the whole maze complety i don t even get lost in there since i did it more then one time

  • dont u like vampire killer?

  • what r the sun and moon cards?

  • Change the times to morning or night. Sort of innovative but annoying more than anything since you only use them for doors.

  • but dont use to much of them if you want to see the best ending for reinhart and carrie (i read that somewhere but i cant remember where)

  • bro how come i can't save it.

  • so r u stuck with the same skillz all the way through the game or u get new ones? kwing answer lol

  • By the way. you fight renon if you spent more than $30,000 not $300,000.

  • I don't think that's Bloody Tears you hear in the beginning. Cuz I have all of the cd's(except Portrait of Ruin, unfortunately) the familiar tune that you heard a piece of is actually one of my favorites "Vampire Killer".

  • "during the night you were dead!"

    HA! FUNNY!

  • dracula will turn you into chop suey lo fricking l

  • Well, you hear a little Bloody Tears in the intro I think. But none of the other classic music appeared. But you're right, the music was still great.

  • @FierceDeity835 sorrrry???dude, maybe it doesn't have the incredible overdone vampire killer, beggining or bloodlines, but have one of teh best remixes of one of the best tunes of castlevania, i'm talking about sinking old sanctuary (art tower level) which oiginated from bloodlines, and that tune its a true castlevania Classic.

also, the boss thems, are from rondo of blood, Dance in phsntasmic Hell, and another classic, Dance of illusions, plus bloodlines and simon's theme make a cameo

  • Heck yeah that lightening scared me too.

  • Actually these two games were put back into the official timeline with the release of Castlevania: Judgement.

  • fantastic review.
