  • theres a reason why the witch was like this..it was her sister that the house landed on

  • TEAM ELPHIE!!!!!!

  • what wicked does is that it really changes my perspectives of the concept of good and evil. Like Elphaba says "One Question Haunts and hurts to much to much to mention, was i really seeking good or just seeking attention, is that all good deeds are when looked at with an ice cold eye?" But at the same time, the Wizard of Oz invokes nothing but pure imagination and teaches us that light overpowers all forms of darkness, even if that darkness is misunderstanding.

  • "The REAL deffintion of a witch, like, the original witches, is someone who use evil and satanic spells and potion and pratices witchcraft."

Well, in Wicked, Elphaba was believed evil and she did use spells from the otherworldy Grimmerie book, so...

  • like your turn n lyrics...

  • what is the name of this song ?

  • what is the name of this song ?

  • Very good... ;)

  • who was the witch of the north

  • Evil is in a point of view. There is only one true evil and that is greed! The real villains were the Witch of the North and the Wizard. Elphaba wasn't wicked until she had a breakdown. I mean the poor women had all kinds of things that were going on at once. Read the book. She was a shy girl at first and then suddenly she spoke up what she thought to be right. I believe Glinda somehow infuenced her to be more out spoken.

  • @angelofmusic22 Which book? On Baum wrote or that fanfic?

  • My facination for the wicked witch of the west, just grows as I understand her and how she was trully right.. I mean no bitch is coming to my house to steal what is rightfully mine specially my shoes...

The true villain was OZ, for sending a little girl on a mission to kill poor green skinned girl... what kind of psicopath send a little girl to kill anyone, specially just to send her back home..

All I know is that I love the wicked witch of the west...

  • well she wasn't trying to kill any character from wicked in this version of the wizard of oz

  • whats the song?

  • what song is in the background??? it was on the oc(:

  • It's interesting how she tried to kill the scarecrow (Fiero her College love interest) first?

  • @Amtrak1194

it was either she was trying to hide her cover (remember fiyero traveled with companions) or truly thought that fiyero was dead and was gone.

  • @Amtrak1194: She was having issues. Once Dorothy plopped in and killed Nessa, Elphie went batshit crazy, to be honest.

  • it's like wicked

  • It This Duke Special singing this that Rastafarian haired oddity from Belfast

  • haha im so stupid - i was trying to see the characters from wicked went i watched the wizard of oz again

  • Lol Glinda is just so...GLINDA!!! Her outfit is like a (very) spiced up version of the Popular dress...hahaha...

  • Thank you! :-)

  • ZOMG, I remember getting scared at the part when miss gulch transforms into a witch in the tornado, when I was little :o

  • Nice tune, not a bad version, and I am a big fan of Kate Bush. I enjoyed it.

  • that isn't very nice. I maybe a moron but at least I do not spend my times posting rude comments

  • that is a rude comment, you should not spend your time posting rude comments!

  • same, but still, no need to be rude

  • I love the song. Whats the name of it?

  • placebo running up that hill

  • kate bush does this song too, I'm not sure if it's hers or not tho...

  • it's hers...

  • When I was a kid, I used to *hate* the Wicked Witch of the West, but I still admired her in an odd way.

Now, I just feel so incredibly sad when I see her onscreen because I know that she was just misunderstood...

  • ah, but she wasn't

  • Wasn't misunderstood?

I forgot to include in my comment that it was the musical Wicked that changed my opinion of the character. In the play/book, she was misunderstood.

  • @Randompumpkin haven't you seen Wicked? She definitely was. Good video by the way! :D

  • @Randompumpkin

yes she was, people didnt see past her skin and they were unbelievably stupid to believe any rumor. I mean seriously! elphaba was a human being! do you know anyone that is allergic to water?

  • @peguin100 in the oroinal oz bokk dorothy takes a bath whikle in the witchs catle and notices the witches fear of water so Dorothy was no innocent when she threw that bucket of water WHITYE IMPERIALISIM !!

  • @etrax2000

well i dont like the wizard of oz(so i don't read it), no one does after they see Wicked. even before i ever saw wicked, i always loved elphaba but she seemed interesting and different. but what kind of idiot takes a bathe at their enemies house!? Thats just weird...But elphaba never actually melt but fell through a trap door. either way, elphaba lives. if she was actually allergic to water than she'll bathe with oils or not, she could of planned it.

  • @Randompumpkin ah, but she WAS. Go see Wicked (You will NOT regret it)

  • Comment removed

  • @boffinme80 In the Wizard of Oz, no she was not a bit of both. Nor was she the only green-skinned humanoid in Oz. Nor the misunderstood daughter sired by the Wizard who, before he got into power, fooled around with some air-headed, bored married woman. Nor was the Wizard an alchemist or whatever from our world who'd gone pursuing the book that created the world, yadda yadda.

  • @Yakerina You've completely missed my point. I'm saying that people can look at the Wicked Witch in the Wicked perspective or The Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz she is just plain mean, end of. In Wicked she is both but more softened. I prefer The Wizard of Oz as it's a classic, been around longer and was one of my childhood favourites and I instantly disliked Wicked when I first saw it because so many moments were very "what the hell?" but it grew on me and I understood the story.

  • @VeggieChick77 yeah, probly juss needed a hug

  • Is this primal scream's cover message me!?

  • very good video!

  • The only thing about the film that bugged me was when Danny Kaye intro'd it on TV. He said Judy was a little girl when she played Dorothy. She looked older than my oldest sister to me. I admired the way Margaret spoke, while Billie Burke's voice was odd.

  • When Dorthy melted the wictched she should have magicly tunrened into her for the rest of her life thats right Dorthy Should be a Villian

  • When I first saw this as a small child, the thing that gave me nightmares were the winged monkeys.

  • The way we show witches, Like how we show Elphab and Glinda, is not evil. The REAL deffintion of a witch, like, the original witches, is someone who use evil and satanic spells and potion and pratices witchcraft. The witches in Wizard of Oz don't do that. They aren't witches like the real witches, they are witches like hollywood witches.

    GOD BLESS! ^.~

  • Actually witches don't believe in "satan"...

  • Of that beams it is the straw of his broom?

  • witches are real at pendle hill my nan lives there

  • they really are not, see "Wicked" the story, it explains Elphaba..

  • But Wicked is fanfiction. The author even said that he just considers it to be fanfiction. Wicked is excellent, but it's a good idea to seperate the two.

  • yeah not all witches are evil. power is power, just depends on what you do with it.

  • this is one is missunderstood

  • each to their own :)

  • you should have used kate Bush's origional version of running up that hill

  • i like this version better

  • i agree about the lack of emotion, this is one of my fav movies, the ambience and tone of this music almost make this vid tearful!

  • ok no problem

  • This Is Cool Can You Put The Whole Film On Youtube And Comment Back What You Named It Thanx !

  • i only have the clips, no soundtrack

  • i only know this song from within temptation. xD

  • They changed alot of things from the book to the musical i have read the book twice and seen the musical 4 times so i know,as far as the musical and the MGM movie Wizard of Oz there are of course similarities and differences. Maybe this is just what the authors of the musical/book would have like to see with g(a)linda, nessarose, and Elphaba. If you really wanna know why they changed what the things they changed then write them and ask, until then nobody is really wrong or right

  • i love the ambiance you gave for this video! long life wicked witches!

  • everytime i watch twoo, i always think that in "wicked," elphaba's character should have been more, uh--crazy in the 2nd act. i mean, we all know she already lost her mind, but if they had taken it to a bit of an extreme, it would have gone in seemlessly with the original story.

  • It was written almost 100 years later by a completely different offer, so it is pretty obvious to us. However, because dear L. Frank Baum did not provide any backstory of the Witches of the North, East, South, and West, we can fantasize or believe that their is their official story.

  • Ok, please don't kill me anyone, but who cares if we like Wicked better than the original novel? Just because that may be the case, it does NOT mean that all of us Wicked fans believe that Wicked is the official story of the Wicked Witches of Oz.

  • Until we die, none of us will know what the Witche's life was like before the house was dropped on the Witch of the East. We won't know if the witches were sisters. We won't know if all the witches were friends. We just won't, so until then, we are entitled to believe it is.

  • Hell, Frank Baum may not even know what the Witch's life was like before the house dropped on the Wicked Witch of the East. Maybe he had no past story of hers to tell. If so, then nobody then the Witches know their past, so we'll never find out what their pasts were.

  • ...Unless the Witches of the East and West pop out of their watery/earthy graves to tell us themselves. Which I doubt will happen.

And again, please don't kill me...

  • CloakedSchemer, I agree. Besides, if people say "Wicked" defies the original tale, I could say that--by the same token--so does the MGM classic film that "Wicked" borrows many of its elements from, for whereas Elphie is like her MGM counterpart in "Wicked", the original witch in the original Oz book is a wrinkly old, one-eyed hunchback!

  • Wicked has absolutely nothing to do with L. Frank Baum's classic story. Maguire jus gets a kick out of ruining great stories, by no means should you assume he (or his characters) have anything at all to do with the original story.

  • finally! someone agrees with me!

  • wicked is an amazing book, and, whether the history of the wicked witch is true or not, it's still nice to imagine

  • observer0001: But by that logic, neither does the MGM film that inspired "Wicked", either.

  • Wicked is somone elses interpatation of OZ

Not Not the classic we alknow an love

  • yay!

  • Rollman: Says you. Considering Wicked basically LIFTED the witch from this and gave her backstory, there is no difference between the two! It's just like Disney with The Little Mermaid 3, for that is a prequel to the first film, no matter how shoddy the animation looks!

  • How old are you? Three? In that case, Wicked is not age apropriate... Wicked does not contribute anything to the story of the Wizard of Oz, in fact, it directly contradicts much of the story. Wicked is a satire, or a parody, not a prequel. Baum must be rolling in his grave right now...

  • observer: Yes, it contradicts the original Baum tale, but so does the MGM film, whose elements were used to make "Wicked" in the first place!

  • Wicked is the story of the wicked witch... so there isnt a difference... Nessa didnt have arms she wasnt in a wheel chair, and Glinda put the enchantment on the shoes... I read the book so dont say im wrong

  • ur right! i read the book 2!

  • nicely done. um what song is this && who is it sung by?! cause I love it! It's off of one of my fave tv shows The Oc...or at least this song is in a couple of their episodes. Please tell me and tanks!

  • running up that hill by placebo

  • Nessa is handicapped and unable to walk... so how would she be ablr to ride that bike?

  • if you remember in Wicked, Elphaba put a spell on the shoes and then Nessa was able to walk.

  • Random: And Nessa was obviously wearing the shoes when she passed by Dorothy's room window (after changing from the Miss Gultch garb, of course, for Kansas is different from Oz, despite similarities in the film).

  • first off, Nessa aint green.second off Elphies just misunderstood

  • Elphie can be green, because after all Miss Gulch turns into the Wicked Witch of the East and how does this not say that Elphie is not misunderstood?

  • Miss Gulch = Nessarose?

But seriously, Elphie is green because of her illegitamit conception from her mother and the Wizard.

  • Random: I'd just like to say that I think this film shows the craziness Elphie was starting to feel, hence her becoming "wicked", even though she claimed throughout her time before Dorothy dropped in that she wasn't "wicked". In short, Wicked has the relatively normal Elphaba and Oz has the demented and crazy Elphaba.

  • first off, this is the wizard of oz, not wicked, there's a difference.

  • christlol: Wicked is a supposed prequel to Oz (the film NOT the book), and so, there is no difference.

  • Safuza: No Nessa is not green. But it was Nessa that Miss Gulch turned into (although M. Hamilton played all three: Miss Gulch, Nessa, and Elphie)!
