Gee, there are a more than a few confused people here: Tim Minchin is Australian, appearing here on an Australian TV show. The song is clearly about Alan Brough (hence "I'm Alan, bro") who is the tall New Zealander seen in the background, spotlighted behind the desk. New Zealanders are, of course, sometimes called Kiwis, after the disctinctive flightless NZ bird. Hence the avian puns and also the fruit puns (the latter after the Kiwi Fruit, also named after the bird).
