  • If its not working for you then follow these directions

After "rooting" have your phone on, and hold the volume up and power button at the same time until it turns off and then back on in diagnostic mode.

Using the volume buttons to go up and down, choose the "sdcard:/update/install or whatever using the camera button.

  • I've done this repeatedly.. people claim it's timing.. but I've done this about 15 times now. First problem I see is, "error: device not found"

Then waits for my phone to reconnect.. at this point the rooting is blocked by the phone which is proven when the next error reads, "mount: operation not permitted".. lol Anyone have a better way to root this. This may seem simple but either A. application is shit. or B. Timing has to be exact, to what extent? Not sure.

  • @LaurieABanks i have this same exact problem. I hope someone can explain. Please!

  • I followed your instructions to to the T, but I'm always getting the mount: operation not permitted error. I even followed the instructions to get around this error in the readme but I've had no luck. Do you have any advice?

  • My apologies, I did have an error. It has been fixed. Please redownload if you had an error!

  • @nurimep Hi, I downloaded the new one but I still get Operation not permitted, do you have any other suggestions? thank you for the video.

  • @nurimep when im supposed to reboot i type adb reboot but it says command not recognized wtf!!

  • Dear nurimep, thank you so much for uploading these tips and this tutorial! I'm a girl with a Samsung Galaxy Prevail and a Mac OSX 10.6 computer (running with Intel). I really want to be able to root my phone, but just can't seem to get it to work. It's a little tricky for me to understand exactly what to do as the tutorial is mostly angled toward PC users. Is there any way you could help me out with a simple step-by-step tutorial that would be directed specifically to a Mac user? Thank you!

  • @VideoOnline11 open terminal, when the video tells you to run the .bat file type ./run.sh then hit enter! :)

  • @nurimep Thank you so much for your quick response. This is what I've tried: I've downloaded the drivers via the link you posted. To be able to open and run those drivers on my Mac, I used the program CrossOver to extract the contents. Then I set my phone to all the right settings and plugged it in to my computer using a USB cable. However, then nothing happens. The drivers don't install. In your tutorial it seems as if they begin installing automatically in Windows? Thank you again for helping.

  • @nurimep So, to sum it up, I manage to successfully download and install the drivers to my computer, but I can't seem to get them to interact with my phone. When I plug in my phone to the computer, a window pops up that says "A new network interface has been detected. The 'Samsung Android USB Device' network has not been set up. To set up this interface, use Network Preferences". Is this the reason it doesn't work? Do I need to set this up first? How do I do that, I wonder...

  • @nurimep Sorry to keep bothering you, this is my last note for the day, I am just thinking that perhaps it'll be easier to figure out what to do if I mention all the details! When I plug in my phone, I get the prompt about the network that hasn't been set up, as mentioned. However, I do have full access to USB mass storage between the computer and my phone. That works just fine. Is there any way of dragging and dropping the drivers, to kickstart them or something, via the USB mass storage?

  • well, i'm finished. i have tried everything i've read & i've seen. either MY phone is unrootable, or i'm simply not doing it right. i'm just going to suffer with the bloatware. thanks for the help tho!

  • @ajk44035 Did you try the latest version? I think the link in the description.

  • @nurimep yea, i got the latest, followed the video & the read me text. even read up on rooting in general to see if i can get some sort of context of what the instructions are saying. but it keeps coming up fail fail fail, then you're phone should be rootable. but it's not. & i have tried it several times. I've become frustrated. i just wanted to free up space on my phone, i'm not worried about all of the other great reasons to root a phone. not interested yet. :)

  • @ajk44035 My phone is the same way also. I have Android Ver. 2.2.2 / Baseband Ver. S:M820.07 x.EE14 / Kernel Ver. 2.6.32.9 / Build Number FROYO.EE14 / Hardware Ver. M820.07

  • FOR ANYONE WHO CAN'T FIND THE ZIP. IT'S IN THE DESCRIPTION. LEARN TO READ. THANK YOU

  • first let me say thanks for all of the help your giving FOR FREE (that was to remind people that you are not obligated to do this), & to those that ARE criticizing you, I've been to their "accounts", i didn't see any posts about helping people root their phone. interesting...

anyway....any more instruction/help on rooting this p.o.s. phone?

  • This is not working for me at all....I've followed the video to the letter, but I keep getting the "root/mount: not permitted" errors. Im on EE14 and I've tried running as an admin, rebooting the phone myself, factory restore....Nothing is working. Please help. Im a windows 7 user if that matters

What I did was this: I plugged in the phone, turned it off, opened PrevailToExistence.bat, powered on the phone, unlocked the screen and IMMEDIATELY started spamming enter to get it through all prompts. (After removing my SD card and enabling Debugging of course). It ran properly and I am now rooted. This is on Windows 7 64-bit while running the bat in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. Hope this helps.

Worked for me. This fixed it on Windows 7 x64. You are all welcome. PS. don't update your phone!

  • Suck want work. Damn update

  • I began rooting my phone until I realized it wouldn't work because of the update. I made it as far as PrevailToExistence step and (obviously) it wouldn't root. Should I/can I take out anything that was installed in these steps, until the another exploit is discovered? If so, how?

P.S - Thanks for such a detailed walk-through, it would have worked perfectly save for that little blip in the process.

  • @luvpassionfury12 Hey, sorry to hear that... We are working on a few things I promise a solution within 3 weeks!Hopefully sooner, or i'll pie myself in the face and post it in on youtube, i'll PM you in the mean while to get you some help!
