with no harsh feeling about your comment, go ahead and devote at least half of the free minute and achieve half of the mastery this Master had achieved... its easier said then done, look at whole brigades of sitariyas, till date no one is close to him even after some of them practicing 12 to 16hrs a day. And its not about technically perfectness, listen to Nikhilda's any raga and you will know what a indian sitar music is.

@ajay3711 Yes, I'd like to agree as well. Even if you combine today's maestros along with the ones from the past couple of centuries, there are not many names that have risen to the top and endured the test of time. And ajay's point is valid; there have certainly been many people who've practiced sitar, some with the same amount of dedication as Nikhilji. But, we remember him the most because of what he was able to create with the sitar. Austere dedication is necessary but is not the only thing

Two divinely gifted players giving us a taste of musical heaven . Only the school teacher -like idiom and stiff manners of the lady introducing the instruments keep us aware that we are on earth.
Thanks for this video and thanks, bhilaj, for your comments about Mahapurush Misra. I remember seeing him in concert during the late 60's in L.A. (can't remember which venue) and he was stunningly talented. His hands reminded me of a cat/kitten playing on the drum heads with such enthusiasm and lightning speed. He simply radiated joy in his playing!
Thank you for this post. Two of the most humble personage in Indian Classical Music. I had the pleasure of spending some time with Mahapurush & family at his home in Calcutta and am very happy to see this rare piece of live footage. He (& Nikhil) were taken so early in life, R.I.P.
Each time I watch late Panditji I am overwhelmed by an awe of respect, spirituality and amazement for this great saint and artist of Indian classical music. music. In his untimely death India and the whole world of music lost a saint and an artist of unfathomable talent who will always be a source inspiration to others and will be revered as one who never went after cheap popularity. May his eternal soul rest in peace in the abode of almighty God!!
Thank you for generously sharing this piece. Yes, both the masters are gone, but thanks to patrons like you, we can still enjoy their legacy. Breathtaking!

Great!
Really rare to see it.
Always a great feeling to watch Nikhil-babu performing, as we never had the privilege to watch his live performance.
Many thanks for posting this and please post more if you have. Nikhil-babu is the greatest!

It is amazing how such a sound can come from a non-living object. Whoever invented this instrument is a genius.

Nikhil Ji:
In my book of inner music, you are the greatest melody maker on the sitar.
You have left a legacy for the purists in the Sitar World.
You are eternal in the annals of music that connects with the soul and the heart.
Thank you for this and other Nikhil Videos.
