@meatmeister hahahaha thats like my bird! he has a little green bowl in the corner of his cage that he eats from and one time he camoflaged himself in it when i tried to feed him fruit xD
My lovebird was really sweet and well trained until she hit "bird puberty"... now she won't let anyone near her without VERY aggresively biting them HARD.
Is there anything I can do to get her back to where she was before?
How did you tame your bird :).. ? i have two and am trying really hard, but the thing is i can't seem to find anything that they eagerly want to eat and work for.. seeds are the only thing and having them starve and work for food seems cruel. do you have any link on how to train parrots?
how do i get my birds to do that iv been trying different methods just so that my two love birds would be afraid of me they are extreemly shy when i go near them they go into there littli box i cant even hand feed them :(
t-stand is too wide for his feet, poor little baby,he needs one more thin,so he can perch more secure,is adorable,me encanta ,pero me da pena verlo como batalla para sostenerse, pobrecito,es tan bello.
@theHardcoreChaos A lot of people don't agree with this, but you might have to clip his wings. By the time they grow back, maybe he'll be tame enough to wanna stay on your hand?? Also maybe if he likes millet walk up to him slowly, with the millet in your hand and let him see it clearly. then offer it to him that might help. IDK sorry i don't think my advice is good, but I definitely gave it a shot!
i already did the feeding trick so he can trust me better, that's fine for my bird but when i put my finger against hes claws he will be scared and fly away.
Hey I am babysitting a lovebird starting on Wednesday for a week or so and apparently she bites when you put your finger near her to step up. I was wondering if you could give me some tips as I am very determined to have her step up nicely before her owner gets her back
I'm going to get a love bird for my mom but she wants birds to be able to fly so I will build a 5x5x3 cage with screening. I was wondering if I need two lovbirds given the name and if metal screening is safe for them. Also what would the requirements be? I heard I need lots of toys and swings but I'm not a bird enthusiast I'm a reptile person
Yes it's big, because the T-stand was meant for my conure. Will love to get one fitting T-stand for the lovebird, but sad to say I was only parrot-sitting the lovebird for 10 days. Just a short stay at our place =)
This isn't taming. This is training. Taming I would consider to be learned behavior that does not require the animal to exert energy. Allowing itself to be grabbed for instance is a matter of taming. It merely has to NOT resist rather than make an effort to make something happen. I consider a trick to be a natural or unnatural behavior that has an unnatural stimulus that consistently triggers the behavior. You trained the parrot some tricks which is great. No point in underrating it as taming.
Hi Mike, thanks for clarifying the difference btw Taming and Training. Really appreciate that you shared it over here. First, I guess I had to apologize about the misleading title. Probably I shld have provided more description earlier. This video actually clearly show that the lovebird (Teri) being able to be handled and even perform simple trick. It was all possible after 10-days of hand-taming and parrot training him. Do click on the link to read more abt the story.
how did you tame him ? my lovebird hates all of my treats and hides in a corner every time i open s the cadge...

i really dont get it. my agaponis constantly flies away if i move my hand to him.

i let him fly in my room i think thats good for him,
he also have a Big cage but when im in the room he can get out.

Didn't you say He/She was aggressive? He didn't look very aggressive to me. I tried to tame a lovebird with very little success.

He used to, but this video is the end result of the transformation of Teri, after undergoing series positive approaches and trainings.
