People do have the right in not being photographed if they don't want to be. That I understand and should be respected, including Police Officers they are humans too.
@michaelwruth Try it. I'm fairly sure you'll end up in a hole somewhere...
From what I understand of it, it's gonna take pretty much all of you (51% or more) rising up together at once for you to not be considered (and detained) as terrorists.
You can say it all you want, but the reality is that you can be arrested and jailed without charge if they feel you're starting to gain traction.
This law is total bollocks, if terrorists really want to take photographs all they need to do is buy a cheap covert camera from the internet & then they can film without being detected, this stupid law only stops law abiding citizens from going about their innocent business. The law was only brought in to make it look like the government are doing something to counter terrorism & it does not work for the reason that I have already given, it's time that the government realised this & changed it.
What would happen if I was taking a photogragh of my German Shepherd, in OXFORD CIRCUS.......and a Policeman or member of MI5 walked past at the time I took the photo.
LOL, your pigs are pathetic. They are hear in Canada too, but he they are a lot more abusive. They would beat you up and destroy your camera. It has nothing to do with terrorism. Police don't want to be policed is the truth. It is like america using copyright infringement as a good reason to start censoring the internet. Hypocrites, it is either freedom or not. Freedom unless you cross us is not freedom at all.
can you have a look at my video "police harassment part 1" please, i don't know the law when its too photography but it was filmed inside my home, is that illegal?
any police officer who actually thinks its ok to enforce these statutes and laws should be sent to live in a concentration camp so that they see the result of their obedient cowardly behaviour.
@jaroncreed Are you some sort of fuck wit? What a pointless reply from a stupid child to a total stranger!! I bet your parents are proud. If you have nothung constructive to say go back to wanking over hentai you cock end.
3 mins 3 secs - "Police officers are here to protect our human rights" - are Police Officers exempt from ECHR or are thay not human or have I missed something.
I am really amazed none of these natural people know the law. Please google john harris for more information, he has much to tell you about the difference between a person and a natural human being.
i wonder if the courts know about Google maps? no need to run around London taken pics of buildings. you can plan an attack on your laptop in a cave now.
why not just cut out the bull and make cities prisons and be do with it.
Welcome to corporate policing. F"ck The Law it works for the corporations not you.
for all the people who still believe all these new laws are to protect you and not the state wake up. they will be killing you in the next few years for environmental reasons.
dont bother taking action you might miss your favourite early evening brainwash.
this is about peoples civil rights ,the police are on cctv all the time but they can control the footage from that .plus surly if a terrorist was taking photos of a target the that would be evidence towards a conviction ,so the thruth is yet again revealed by the outcome ,the police have things to hide(their corrupt ways) so the terrorism war is a scam cos its a war of terror on the people not a war on terrorism in the true sense of the word,we are serving the elect, who voted for gordon brown???
the stink of their corruption is horrible ,the police moto concerning cctv is if youve nothing to hide theh youve nothing to fear .so what do the police have to fear if they dont want to be filmed.so they lied about the economy being in trouble when billions are made from the sale of camera phones so the economy cant be that bad cos they wont be able to seel the cameras making the economy suffer ,so the economic situation is another lie, lies lies and lies the true fascist corporate way,
CROTCHWATCH alert: unemployed, tax sucking, government cheese eating, indigent and lazy son's of bitches here! Video tape something worthwhile; You in line at the unemployment office, again. Or, you in line at the JobTemp office applying for WORK! Or, videotape real crime and be a good witness and OFFER your civil service as a good sumaritan! What a waste of time and our money you CrotchWatchers are!
@D3X1M3R lolwut? about all I could understand from this was that you don't think police brutality is a real crime... in which case you're pretty much mentally ill.
Why blame the Police?. Why they do this in the first place?
It's happening not just in Europe but in many parts of Asia and North America. Islamic terrorism has turned around everything. Police have to be vigilant to avert any attacks. Police are just humans without any magical power to spot the real culprits.
Blame Islam not the police who try to protect us from any attacks. We are losing our libery but still there are people amidst us who harbor and protect Islamists in our socities.
Yeah and if I was asked to turn off my video camera or stop taking pictures. FUCK THEM! Its pubic place and if these fucking scum cunts don’t enjoy there pictutes being taken and why would I want I want to even bother taking there picture, I fucking hate these cunts and taking a picture of these cunts is the last thing I want to do! If pig gets in the shot I will delete the cunt because I hate the fucking scum cunts.
apparently the police are active in illegal activity to want to pass this law..i mean what harm is it to take a picture of anyone in public places?? yeah like i said they use terriorism as the excuse to justify their actions like they are trying to protect us b.s...
When will people start to realise that the police are not here to help us any longer. They are here to prevent freedom of speech and to suppress our rights (which are being taken away daily). I always hear that police are human too, so let's not judge. But they can make a decision just like anyone else. They surely must realise they're being used against us? If not, I can hardly offer sympathy.
This is funny as fuck ! and I fully support it ! Under Blair this country has been turned into something like former communist east germany ! With the police as the provisional wing of Nu Labour Im all for the right to demo and I'll back anyone to demo
It proves what plonkers our police force and government are. Why don't they get off their arses and start arresting young knife wielding thugs - as many as 1 in 5 carry a knife in the city areas. But they do nothing. Damn fecking clockwork plastics! Recently saw ten coppers and 5 bus inspectors standing around and laughing at a bus stop. All that just to nick a few fair dodgers, if any - disgusting!!
No doubt this new digital bill will be used to cut people of from the internet if they are viewing stuff like this. Mark Thomas is correct is saying this is just one of many things in a list of legislation that is slowly eroding our rights. Something big is coming which is going to cause mass public unrest and they are making sure they have everything in place to suppress the people. People need to wake up and mobilize against it.
its okay, what these guys are actually doing is digging their own graves. just like the insecure classroom bully. they can only take it so far before the rest of us just ignore them. then when they realise their ways, we will forgive them.
Mark Thomas is an self publicizing, egotistical, ex -public school boy who earns a six figure salary spouting ill informed and naive student politics bullshit. He is a member of the liberal elite who only supports trendy causes. He is clearly unaware of the difference between the legislature and police. He is also a shit comedian.
Also, while I hope the police relax about the photography paranoia, well, does anyone wear anything colorful or bright in Great Britain? It looks like a goth rave just let out!
wow its almost a year later and now I read/see this news... Is this how slow real news travels ?? Gosh.... its amazing..
People that are filmed by camera's on the street all the time to prove if they did something wrong, and who will film the police if they do something wrong?
Lets write a bill that says we will take liberty or death and leave our fate in GOD'S HANDS. This will give our rights back and expose these fucks who hate GOD but won't admit it. They keep on playing the fear card in order to take rights one at time. Lets leave our fate back to GOD and they will be fucked. Body scanner is not going to stop fate , that is what lot of morons are forgetting. When the angel of death comes for you , its your time. So why do we need these fucking 4 hour line ups?
@BigD639 lame argument that..you dont want ID Cards so 'onviously' you are up to no good and should be monitored or arrested..?// ok so by exercising you freedom of speech and expression or opinion you are automaticaly deemed a crimininal..so instead of catching heal villians and leeting them go under the new 'theres nothng we can do law' they can harass anyone who disagrees with police policy...weird...
The people who can view CCTV is restricted and you need to have security clearance and qualification in order to check the CCTV footage.
If you notice on TV and in the public domain most peoples faces are blocked out on CCTV footage to protect them.
Even on TV shows like Road Wars etc. faces are blocked out to protect the individual.
If the photographers would be willing to censor any identifying features like the faces of officers that would be fine how can the officer know they'll censor it
i cant see what the problem is, the police take vids of people all the time, be it CCTV, ANPR FIT police squad ect
I'm old enough to remember walking down the high street, driving my car and basically going about my daily life without being viewed as a criminal which is what CCTV makes people feel
Cities and town centres feel more like open prisons now with the aount of cameras about
if they are aloud to take our pics we should film them
The media in general; aim for as many people as possible to view their images. Not caring if the audience is likely to use them for a malicious purpose. Such as targeting officers. Finding out where they live, and doing them harm. The images the police take, are kept securely, they are not broadcast all over the world to whoever might want to see them, only to those who it concerns.
If CCTV makes you uncomfortable, it makes me wonder what you've done; or are planning to do?
"Some people line their collars with razor blades, set booby traps in cars to kill the police."
Then, arrest and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law but what does that have to do with law abiding citizen?
"If someone took a picture of you at work, you'd want to know why?"
The difference being: you are a private citizen and a cop is an extension of the state. You are not account accountable to the state, the state is accountable to you.
They are prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but wouldn't it be better to help prevent direct targeting of officers rather than waiting for it to happen before reacting to it?
A police officer is a representative of the Queen, and yes the police are accountable to the public. But are police officers under the uniform not private citizens too?
Or should a police officer always have to be a police officer; do they not get time off, can they no longer have any privacy at all?
Of course cops are private citizens...when they are not preforming duties required of them by the state, for which they voluntarily signed up for. A cop become a cop to serve the state by "protecting" the private citizenry. The whole reason for the police UNIFORM is so that they will stand out and apart from the "average" citizen. This being the case, as long as they are in uniform with their numbered badge and/or performing their state assigned duties any claim to privacy is simply ludicrous.
Police officers are not and have never been charged with PROTECTING private citizenry. A police officer's only duty in regards to private citizenry is to investigate criminal activity, ONLY after a crime has been reported to have been committed. The only individuals afforded the privilege of PROTECTION, through the threat of lethal force, by law enforcement personnel are officials of the state,
In many jurisdictions it is illegal for the citizenry to defend themselves with fire arms, while concurrently, it is a protected right for law enforcement personnel to bear and use firearms to protect themselves and those who they are charged to protect. The premise that the rights of private citizenry are considered equal to the privilege afforded entities of the state is dubious.
n the United States, the right of the populace to be informed of and monitor the actions of state entities is protected by the 1st amendment of our constitution. The use of photography, video and audio recording to document citizenry's interactions with extensions of the state are the only protection available, to ensure that such interactions are and remain just and prudent.
This whole police state is pissing me off more and more. I feel like a Jew in Nazi Germany. The government take our pictures all the time, but that's OK. We are a weak and disarmed public, at the mercy of thugs running our lives. Its time to stand up. Terrorism is being used as the scapegoat to enslave us to the point of communist dictatorship.
Well that`s our democracy finished what a shame! this corrupted Labour government has turned this country into communist China Lets hope other countries dont follow our dictatorship I cant believe the Labour government can get away with this
The labour government are a facist government that is turning the UK into something that resembles communist China. David Cameron is the same. Both are batting for the same team. Their interests are to serve the elites
Yes i know Labour government started it off then when David Cameron & his Tory lot get in power in 6 months time which is guaranteed they will carry on from where Labour left off because they love to control people so much in the end We will have to solute them just like the Nazi Hitler government
@ fiesta i though corporations run this country -they do eveywhere else...their private securty ppl even film us joe public just sitting on a bench or taking snaps - private securuty ppl even tried to take my camera away...
@radicalsystems This country is run by war criminals I mean the government they have abused there powers & now they are turning this country into a communist dictatorship just like China my god we have lost so much of our democracy since the Labour government took office
Just look at what happened in Birmingham with Darren Pollared arrested for talking on church ground but its just a ploy so the EU can some how come in and bring jobs, and payed for out of the VAT we all pay Carbon con Tax 7/7 ripple affect video maker jailed. Bell, and Alarm come to mind and they are not jingle bells people 7/7 inside job just like 9/11
If only they spent more money on Border Control... might improve our overall security and stop crimes committed by a fair few people simply walking into the UK.
If the police can film me, I'm sure gonna film them.
The term TERRORISM is simply another excuse for the government to be able to control media and have a state control.... which they already have as it is with such censorship.
Who knows what more is out there than GCHQ, Mi5, Mi6....
and have simply jumped to conclusions like the general population do when the newspapers etc spout biased, over hyped, not in full detail, nonsense...
calm down will you? i have just filmed on my camera phone today an incident involving the police talking to someone suspected of theft.... and afterwards didnt do anything.... you all just jump to bloody conclusions ...
i think people over reacted here... you can still film in the street. You just cant film in the UK police stations, follow a police officer, recording when and where patrols go that would show where hidden spots are from general day to day police coverage.... people over reacted to this and thought it banned all filming.... if i was filming my friend in the street and police walked passed it does not conflict with this new law... i dont think people realise what this is actually for....
True story guys, My grandfather was arrested in 1964, put in a labour camp for 3 years in China because he took a photograph of a poor village boy.....convicted for exposing state secret or something like that.....be careful people it might be you next
you're a dork of the highest order Mr.leaper, you aren't related to anyone named lemming are you by any chance...lol...
you seem like you approach life in the same manner thats all... blindly doing the same as the majority... if someone puts their hand in the fire do you?? idiot... dont you know you are required to show due dilligence in your legal matters..? you obviously know your place and legal capacity, that of a child, you will find, should you inquire, which is unlikely...
you have the right to record by any means you deem nescessary, anything to protect your legal interests, this is under sect. 5a+b of the listening devices act... (including video footage)... as for threat of arrest under sect. 44 of terrorism act, for this to be the case section 46 needs to have been complied with...this means the home secretary has to have specified you (by name) as a terrorism risk prior to the enactment of section 44 otherwise it does not hold up when you arrive at the cells
a guy in a scooter taking pictures. he maybe from a foreign county would not make him a threat to national security. the ones that hide tha cameras are.. Give me a frking break. other wise whats the purpose of going anywhere. Oh btw then why are all the pictures of important places in the net??? Explain that? can't right. So take a break go get laid or something. Go fishing or what ever. or go to the Pub and get a Pint and take a few days off. SUCKS sorry( cops) at least these ones on video
The met tried to run me over twice and told me several times I was to be executed for looking at my watch. This was in the same week my best friend was murdered in a hit and run which the police said was suicide. They got the French police in to every cafe and shop in the Champ Elysee in Paris and spread lies as an extra judicial punishment for telling several people (after 3 years of silence) of what they have done to me.

Bunch of fucking dunces on this video bastardizing the law. They know a law was passed PROHIBITING taking photographs of Police and SENSITIVE Public places and here they are on YouTube encouraging that very same behavior which could get some kid here hurt if he or she tried it. No wonder UK is going to hell and no wonder Muslims will take over soon. Fucking morons god damn you all!
Your being played like a pawn, you think muslims are the one's you should be afraid of? You don't know half the truth. You didn't even know what a muslim was 15 years ago, what they suddenly picked up there guns and decided to start a war? It's not your fault, but you've been overloaded with properganda, just do your research on the Middle East and you'll find out why there are so called 'terrorists.' Just look at how corrupt our politicians are. You'd be horrified and ashamed to say the least.
Simple arithmatic. 1 billion muslims in the world, what's 1 percent of 1 billion (UK not US billion). 1000 million in a billion, so taking a mere 1 percent of the muslim population and claiming they are terrorists would equate to 10000000 terrorists, really quite laughable, 10 million! Let's up to 10% of the muslim population which would equal = 100000000, are you suggesting there are 100 million terrorists? Again, really quite laughable.
Very good film about photographers and police in slow motion, I liked the dogs a lot, on the zeitgeist. Film is on ' Youtube buzzfarm channel ' and is called FREE or in my favorites

As a protestor i had really bad experiences in other countries, i think we have it good here, you have to go out and see the reality abroad before criticising the Police here. Every one makes mistakes and are all human. I reckon it could be a lot worse... we should be helping them instead of making their life harder, imagine how cool that would be, it would make us an even bigger and better city, set the example! That is my view! Fighting the system is old news.
*cough*police *cough* ok so you say you have been to other countries and their policing is worse but also dont these countries also use weapons against the police turns vans over shoot at them launch petrol bombs ect??so the police should be lucky were so layed back!
in 2008 queens speech she said the police should be more accountable for their actions.what happens more terror laws!the only terrorism is the police against the people plain and simple!
And the police was devised as a citizens force against criminal activity, not a state militia to enforce state ideology. They've even phoned to warn people who have expressed unorthodox/politically incorrect opinions. If only people knew, or more precisely, cared about what is happening. I remember how my grandparents lived - they were poor, but they were very happy, it was a free society back then. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance", but most people have their heads deep in the sand.
@TheBlackWhirlwind C'mon! You know its a fascist State! Besides, the police were never set up to protect the public. They were a private force set up to keep the scum away from the nobs. (Bow st. Runners)
BNP, pro-Euro Fascists? Pah!
The NUJ should turn their back on the Gov't. Wake up!
@m1aws: Actually Sir Robert Peel was instrumental in founding the first official Police Force in England. He is credited as being the founder of the Police Force (or 'Service' as political correctness would have us say it) we know today. However, there have been insidious and unofficial changes to modern day policing - not merely in the PC change of name, but mainly to the way the police conduct themselves, how they quantify there efficiency (i.e by statistical arrests, not by absense of crime).
@m1aws: Please google Peelian Principles and there is a list of stipulations that were laid down to ensure the police were provided limited powers to adhere strictly and impartially to the letter of the law. The major change the British Police Force has undergone is in its change of loyalty - i.e. from its impartial observance to the law of the land pertaining to criminal activity to its ultimate politicization and loyalty to state ideology and bureaucratic law.
At that time we had Habeas Corpus. NOT the EU's Corpus Juris where the police have since shot dead over 30 and killed in custody over 1100 - not counting those victims who have been killed on the streets due to bad driving, smashing brains in etc.
@m1aws: Okay, I'm not quite sure what you are driving at, or the point you are attempting to make, that's assuming there is one? I already know about Britain's Habeas Corpus Act and the continents Corpus Juris along with the EU's aims to supplant national sovereignties and laws.
I do not see how this alters the points I have posited discerning the main difference between the past and present state of the British Police Force.
This is now a Fascist state. The rule of law as we knew it is now dead. The police of old were never to protect everyone but the tofs at the top. You came to me to make a point, not the other way round :)
I disagree with your claim that The Police was established to protect the affluent. Historical accounts prove that theory to the contrary, as bobbies (AKA 'Peelers' named after Robert Peel) were deployed in *all* areas of the Britain. Bobbies lived in the local communities they patrolled - whether it be upper, middle, or working class - and the law and observance of it remained immutable in each area. This arrangement ensured the Police were in close touch with the areas they protected.
@m1aws: I would also contest that Britain is not a fascist state. But I believe that it is certainly in the firm grip of socialism and edging ever closer to centralised and totalitarian control, enacted mainly by Britain's current political elite, who agree on all major political and cultural issues transcending across all of the three major political parties (Lab/Lib/Con), all of whom submit to the European Union.
In an age of unprecedented surveillance in the form of CCTV, proposed ID Cards and DNA Databases, the state expects us to have blind trust and faith in them, yet they are not willing to reciprocate this trust - they want to know more and more intimate details about us, thereby destroying age old liberties and civil rights of privacy. Who ever imagined that our beloved England, the cradle of freedom, would become a dictatorship?
@TheBlackWhirlwind it's not the problem of England only. All the countries like the United states of america, or Germany are in this kind of movement...
we have to change our way of thinking and fight this politicial way.
@TheBlackWhirlwind ... that is exactly the way back to medieval years.. and control of some enlightened over the ignorance of the masses... i like your analysis..
We are caught on film ten million times a day by CCTV , but we can't film police when they are assaulting a person with their ski masks and badges covered up , and then "coincidently" the CCTV of the event was not functioning at the time.
This is disgusting, but that's what tyranny is all about I.d cards Guilty before being proved innocent ,you being a slave to the authorities.
How bad is it there? How are tourists like myself going to be treated there? I'm planning to take images with my D700 of buildings and things....will the officers there stop me for that? I don't know if I want to go there to UK now.
I wasn't being literal ass. I'm a professional photographer and wouldn't give up my freedoms to photograph anything at anytime to anyone. I was speaking towards the government loons that think you do. So far though, the police in England seem to have the upper hand unfortunately.
Yeah i know, who protects us from the guns and tanks and bombs and millions CCTV cameras and increasingly more authoritative police and criminal banks and the bought and paid for politicians?
Its cause the descendants of Hitler's puppeteers are still running the show. Yeah the media just constantly drip feeds us all satanic bull shit and passes off as sanity , The sheeple need to wake up and smell the tyranny .
Its the old frog In the incrementally heating boiling pot analogy. We are that Frog , and most people just wont take their head out of the sand , and when your head is in the sand the rest of you is exposed to danger, We Have a serious problem here and its called a Police State!
I remember when you could take photos WITH the Police, Bobbies, or The Queens Guards for goodness sake! They were more then happy to smile and were very friendly. It was good for tourism I was told. Now Tourism is taking a back seat to Terrorism? WTF is wrong with you people? Have we all lost our minds? Dont you see how this is all BS? No one, or group is trying to hurt you. Please WAKE UP!
I got my picture taken with a police officer in London in 2005 while I was on vacation. Would this be illegal now or is it permissible if the officer agrees to be photographed?
I think what everyone doesn't understand is that the police, in this case, are not the problem, it's the people making the laws. The police have to control the animals who make up the public.
ShillBasher PROTESTed : ["the brits are: inferior ppl"] I didN't say that. The French, Italians, GERMAN, AMERICANs, etc say that. Have U heard of the German newspaper article 'The English Patient' not ab. the film but pitiful brit Health service, dirty hospitals, dying OLDer ppl left worse than animals(while spoilt cats +dogs have laser surgery). When I went with my hubby 2Italy, a FRIENDly Italian officer was happy 2 b PHOTOed (even chatted me up), thought I was keen on him? Not his motor!
You are purposfully omitting the fact that you agreed with the statement "brits are inferior people". If you read back on what you wrote you will see: "Germans, Italians, French and AMERICANS, etc who see the brits, quite rightly, as inferior ppl". "QUITE RIGHTLY"] means you concure with that point of view.
ShillBasher PROTESTed, yet again: [Rascists are usualy also liars and hypocrites] I know , I met plenty of them not working for the MET though. Some cretin, rude, envious, crude, COWard, lazy, 2faced, RACIST, _white male_ police OFFICERs , uneducated but frustrated , paper-shuffling "social-worker in uniform" -type , stated that I'm -actually inferior to brit-born ppl coZ I'm Not even... Polish- !?! Maybe not liars, hypocrites but sonS-of-slags, dadS of slappers= "parking"-officers?
Are you going to keep dodging my point?. I am calling YOU a liar and a hypocrite. To that I should add the word; coward, simply because you are affraid admit that you made a racist comment.
An Austrian tourist was harassed coZ he had photographed a red bus in London. UNlike the Germans, Italians, French and AMERICANS, etc who see the brits, quite rightly,as inferior ppl, the Austrians doN't really mind the brits. The Austrians know Austrians r superior toGermans! Anyway, he stated:"I holidayed in EASTern Europe too. Even in these communist countries I was Not treated like this by the police." Yes, coZ REAL police over there REALly fight crime, doN't waste time on tourists, etc
"the brits are: inferior ppl". Are you aware that this is offensive and rascist comment has only managed to negate any other points you were trying to make?.
You, and anyone from any race who talks about another race like that are in fact socialy inferior. Who wants to ascociate with rascists: other rascists, and nobody else.
You now have no credibilty on this thread. Goodnight.
All these photographers complain, but they say they dont know the reasons behind these laws.
the reasons are 911, 7/7, illegal wars and the New World Order. The broadsheets and tabloids these photographers work for have been instrumental in hiding the truth.
I hope one day the population rises against the totalitarian regime of New Labour and drag the freedom-hating, population-supressing pigs that comprise the dictatorship through the streets naked.
This country, this planet, belongs to US, PEOPLE.
If you do nothing, then you should not complain when you need a permit from the goverment in order to speak publicly about politics.
lol, everyones just walking around taking photographs. and thats the reason they went in the first place. they somehow managed to get a load of press and police attention just from taking photographs. and thats it.
It was very sad that Michael Probert of the Metroplitan Police died in a skiing accident last week, as did Natasha Richardson. I had a close call while skiing in France. The police were interested in photographs I took. I emigrated to Eire on the 23rd September 2006.

When will people start to realise that the police are not here to help us any longer. They are here to prevent freedom of speech and to suppress our rights (which are being taken away daily). I always hear that police are human too, so let's not judge. But they can make a decision just like anyone else. They surely must realise they're being used against us? Yeah, i agree this is open to abuse by police officers; however, you have to remember that police officers are targeted by people on a daily basis.
Some people line their collars with razor blades, set booby traps in cars to kill the police.
I do not think that it's unreasonable to ask a person to give a reason for taking a picture of them?
If someone took a picture of you at work, you'd want to know why?
3:13 what about the human rights of the police officers, or are they no longer human?

fishbone342 2 years ago
The people who can view CCTV is restricted and you need to have security clearance and qualification in order to check the CCTV footage.
If you notice on TV and in the public domain most peoples faces are blocked out on CCTV footage to protect them.
Even on TV shows like Road Wars etc. faces are blocked out to protect the individual.
If the photographers would be willing to censor any identifying features like the faces of officers that would be fine how can the officer know they'll censor it
BigD639 2 years ago
Again bigd
i cant see what the problem is, the police take vids of people all the time, be it CCTV, ANPR FIT police squad ect
I'm old enough to remember walking down the high street, driving my car and basically going about my daily life without being viewed as a criminal which is what CCTV makes people feel
Cities and town centres feel more like open prisons now with the aount of cameras about
if they are aloud to take our pics we should film them
fishbone342 2 years ago 2
The media in general; aim for as many people as possible to view their images. Not caring if the audience is likely to use them for a malicious purpose. Such as targeting officers. Finding out where they live, and doing them harm. The images the police take, are kept securely, they are not broadcast all over the world to whoever might want to see them, only to those who it concerns.
If CCTV makes you uncomfortable, it makes me wonder what you've done; or are planning to do?

Guitarmofo24 2 years ago
"Some people line their collars with razor blades, set booby traps in cars to kill the police."
Then, arrest and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law but what does that have to do with law abiding citizen?
"If someone took a picture of you at work, you'd want to know why?"
The difference being: you are a private citizen and a cop is an extension of the state. You are not account accountable to the state, the state is accountable to you.
heatherrose2006 2 years ago 2
They are prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but wouldn't it be better to help prevent direct targeting of officers rather than waiting for it to happen before reacting to it?
A police officer is a representative of the Queen, and yes the police are accountable to the public. But are police officers under the uniform not private citizens too?
Or should a police officer always have to be a police officer; do they not get time off, can they no longer have any privacy at all?
BigD639 2 years ago
Of course cops are private citizens...when they are not preforming duties required of them by the state, for which they voluntarily signed up for. A cop become a cop to serve the state by "protecting" the private citizenry. The whole reason for the police UNIFORM is so that they will stand out and apart from the "average" citizen. This being the case, as long as they are in uniform with their numbered badge and/or performing their state assigned duties any claim to privacy is simply ludicrous.
heatherrose2006 2 years ago 3
Police officers are not and have never been charged with PROTECTING private citizenry. A police officer's only duty in regards to private citizenry is to investigate criminal activity, ONLY after a crime has been reported to have been committed. The only individuals afforded the privilege of PROTECTION, through the threat of lethal force, by law enforcement personnel are officials of the state,
heatherrose2006 2 years ago
In many jurisdictions it is illegal for the citizenry to defend themselves with fire arms, while concurrently, it is a protected right for law enforcement personnel to bear and use firearms to protect themselves and those who they are charged to protect. The premise that the rights of private citizenry are considered equal to the privilege afforded entities of the state is dubious.
heatherrose2006 2 years ago
n the United States, the right of the populace to be informed of and monitor the actions of state entities is protected by the 1st amendment of our constitution. The use of photography, video and audio recording to document citizenry's interactions with extensions of the state are the only protection available, to ensure that such interactions are and remain just and prudent.
heatherrose2006 2 years ago 2

And the police was devised as a citizens force against criminal activity, not a state militia to enforce state ideology. They've even phoned to warn people who have expressed unorthodox/politically incorrect opinions. If only people knew, or more precisely, cared about what is happening. I remember how my grandparents lived - they were poor, but they were very happy, it was a free society back then. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance", but most people have their heads deep in the sand.

TheBlackWhirlwind 1 year ago
@m1aws: Please google Peelian Principles and there is a list of stipulations that were laid down to ensure the police were provided limited powers to adhere strictly and impartially to the letter of the law. The major change the British Police Force has undergone is in its change of loyalty - i.e. from its impartial observance to the law of the land pertaining to criminal activity to its ultimate politicization and loyalty to state ideology and bureaucratic law.
TheBlackWhirlwind 1 year ago
@TheBlackWhirlwind Yup, you said same thing, different take.
At that time we had Habeas Corpus. NOT the EU's Corpus Juris where the police have since shot dead over 30 and killed in custody over 1100 - not counting those victims who have been killed on the streets due to bad driving, smashing brains in etc.
NONE have been convicted whilst on "duty"!!!
m1aws 1 year ago
@m1aws: Okay, I'm not quite sure what you are driving at, or the point you are attempting to make, that's assuming there is one? I already know about Britain's Habeas Corpus Act and the continents Corpus Juris along with the EU's aims to supplant national sovereignties and laws.
I do not see how this alters the points I have posited discerning the main difference between the past and present state of the British Police Force.
TheBlackWhirlwind 1 year ago
@TheBlackWhirlwind
This is now a Fascist state. The rule of law as we knew it is now dead. The police of old were never to protect everyone but the tofs at the top. You came to me to make a point, not the other way round :)
m1aws 1 year ago
@m1aws:
TheBlackWhirlwind 1 year ago
@m1aws: I would also contest that Britain is not a fascist state. But I believe that it is certainly in the firm grip of socialism and edging ever closer to centralised and totalitarian control, enacted mainly by Britain's current political elite, who agree on all major political and cultural issues transcending across all of the three major political parties (Lab/Lib/Con), all of whom submit to the European Union.
TheBlackWhirlwind 1 year ago
@TheBlackWhirlwind First, read up on all definitions of Fascism. Opinion is not an option in this respect.
Peelers is what they become to replace the original, better system for the day that happily did not dwell under direct Gov't control.

I wasn't being literal ass. I'm a professional photographer and wouldn't give up my freedoms to photograph anything at anytime to anyone. I was speaking towards the government loons that think you do. So far though, the police in England seem to have the upper hand unfortunately.
WeAreSoScrewed 2 years ago
I was speaking broadly , to everyone , Sorry.
mmtot 2 years ago
No problem. This blatant abuse of power by the government really pisses me off too. I understand how easily it is to get emotional about it.
WeAreSoScrewed 2 years ago 2
Yeah i know, who protects us from the guns and tanks and bombs and millions CCTV cameras and increasingly more authoritative police and criminal banks and the bought and paid for politicians?

Good question.
Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it
- Adolf Hitler
The problem with the above quote is that too many governments figured that out and continue to practice it today.
When governments fear the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny. -Thomas Jefferson
I believe tyranny is at work.
WeAreSoScrewed 2 years ago 2
Its cause the descendants of Hitler's puppeteers are still running the show. Yeah the media just constantly drip feeds us all satanic bull shit and passes off as sanity , The sheeple need to wake up and smell the tyranny .

Would this be illegal now or is it permissible if the officer agrees to be photographed?
shocker147 2 years ago

Rascists are usualy also liars and hypocrites.

KGBfbiSECUpolitia 2 years ago

KGBfbiSECUpolitia:

If you do nothing, then you should not complain when you need a permit from the goverment in order to speak publicly about politics.

lol, everyones just walking around taking photographs. and thats the reason they went in the first place. they somehow managed to get a load of press and police attention just from taking photographs. and thats it.
i find that pretty funny.

It was very sad that Michael Probert of the Metroplitan Police died in a skiing accident last week, as did Natasha Richardson. I had a close call while skiing in France. The police were interested in photographs I took. I emigrated to Eire on the 23rd September 2006.
