I want to buy a tacoma and I would like to go off road with it, but it will be my only car, I will use it to communte and travel, so have you notice any problems with it? are there any rattles or noise? do you have the elocker, cuz most people get the sport, but I like the off road since I feel it has more off road goodies, I will eventually replace the front bumper, rear bumper, paint door handles and get hood scoop, so I se no reason to get the sport. @woodlogan So after going on a 3 month internship at a GM/Toyota dealership and working there for another 3 after that I have come back to eat some crow admit that the Tacomas are pretty nice and have some strong points to them. My personal favorite is the locking rear differential. I think that's a great option especially for anyone who wants to do some off-roading. I'll still stick with my Chevys and always will, but I now see that Toyotas are alright.
I like these new tacomas but part of what made them so great was that they were a compact pickup which made them great for off road. Now they are a midsize pickup and they won't be quit as good as earlier generations off road because they are bigger and heavier. I don't get why everyone wants to go bigger, is everyone getting fat or something so they need a mid sized pickup just to get inside the truck?!
@arnoldt14 Surprisingly, they aren't heavier than the older tacoma's. They are a little wider, but not by much. I haven't found a trail that I couldn't fit down yet, and it's nice to have a 6 speed and a real motor to push it. I love the 22re, but I don't miss being pegged in second on the hills.

Manual locker or manual hubs? Manual hubs don't do anything for traction, but ARB makes an air locker for the new front ends and all toy rears also. That's the best way to go for lockers.

@YzermanOnce yes i agree with you on the tacoma (i own one) but in the full size truck category i would go with a domestic truck. the tundra just isnt a work truck its to cushy (for a lack of better words) it just doesnt strike me as a truck you would go haul a 5th wheel with or throw a bunch of shit in the back take it around. its kinda like the truck for people that just want one and wont work with it. they also dont have an an optional diesel option

I agree with you that Tundra is cushy, almost Lexus-like ride, but it's a capable performer off road too. Older drivers like Tundra and they may not go off road as much as younger drivers who often buy Tacomas.

I own an 09 tacoma in stock form other than Xcomp tires and it goes every where my 92 ford on 44 goes I have followed my girlfriend in it(me in the tacoma her in the ford )and that gay little truck That robertbabolat123 likes to call them has no problems all I do is skirt the deep shit and away we go. I also have an 08 2500HD duramax for heavy duty, this is just a toy. Trust me, the gay little toyo will out wheel the Dmax, and it never breaks down on me and also holds much higher resale value. If Toyota made a decent HD diesel I'd own one.

my old man hace a 99 taco w/ a 3" lift and 260k on it...he keeps tryin to kill it but just wont! towed a 10 foot trailer with it and took it like a champ. he wants a new one also...but make shure to get a 4x4 if doing off-roading

Manual locker or manual hubs? Manual hubs don't do anything for traction, but ARB makes an air locker for the new front ends and all toy rears also. That's the best way to go for lockers.
