As most people know martial arts "originated" in india with kalari. but what people dont know (which was a shock to me) when talking to a kalari master he told me that india developed their art from trading with the african merchants who developed the art to fight thieves and robbers. First off, i have study martial arts for 4 years now, i did tae kwon do climbed up 5 belts in 5 months got tired and left. Studied muay thai for year, wu gong dao, and now tien shan pai. So, i think i have a little experience. MMA is a joke. Yes, i said it a joke, its has no fundamentals and it doesnt take discipline. Its just alot of punchs and groundwork. I came off misunderstood. Yes of course, there were martial arts in Africa before written word had been invented. So long as there is war, there will be martial arts, because before the invention of the gun, martial arts were used pretty exclusively on the battlefield. Not just strikes/throws, but weapons, you know all the spear/staff/sword forms mixed throughout all the styles? They come from an era of battlefield combat with weapons, man to man. But today's Asian arts didnt START in Africa.

It's difficult trying to prove who created martial arts because martial arts is a broad term. The focus should be on the origins of specific arts. Bodhidharma an Indian monk,is credited with introducing Kung Fu to Shaolin but I've read that there are references to fighting systems in China that predate Bodhidharma's arrival. In other words,there's still a lot of research needed with this.

As most people know martial arts "originated" in india with kalari. but what people dont know (which was a shock to me) when talking to a kalari master he told me that india developed their art from trading with the african merchants who developed the art to fight thieves and robbers. Then the cycle began, africa gave some info to india ( who kept what they thought was important), who gave some info to china (who followed india's idea) and everything else is history.

What a mma fighter does in a fight is full of holes, openings, and wasted efforts. Nothing they do is sound and used properly. First off, i have study martial arts for 4 years now, i did tae kwon do climbed up 5 belts in 5 months got tired and left. Studied muay thai for year, wu gong dao, and now tien shan pai. So, i think i have a little experience. MMA is a joke. Yes, i said it a joke, its has no fundamentals and it doesnt take discipline. Its just alot of punchs and groundwork. Not even the good brazilian jiujutsu, just americanized jiu jutsu moves.

I came off misunderstood. Yes of course, there were martial arts in Africa before written word had been invented. So long as there is war, there will be martial arts, because before the invention of the gun, martial arts were used pretty exclusively on the battlefield. Not just strikes/throws, but weapons, you know all the spear/staff/sword forms mixed throughout all the styles? They come from an era of battlefield combat with weapons, man to man. But today's Asian arts didnt START in Africa.

OBVIOUSLY the first martial art was in Africa. Everything started in Africa. It is were people come from, and fighting is human nature. But there is absolutely no way of maintaining a style THAT old. The Japanese are having difficulty maintaining an art barely one hundred years old (and they are obsessed with cultural purity and correctness). Whatever you are doing now days is not the African style of martial arts. It is either something you made up yourself, or taken from another style.

Furthermore, Egypt was only ruled over by Nubians from the South (modern day Ethiopia/Sudan) for a partial time. It's difficult trying to prove who created martial arts because martial arts is a broad term. The focus should be on the origins of specific arts. Bodhidharma an Indian monk,is credited with introducing Kung Fu to Shaolin but I've read that there are references to fighting systems in China that predate Bodhidharma's arrival. In other words,there's still a lot of research needed with this.

yes Africa has the oldest recorded martial arts systems in the world, but recent discoveries have shown there were system in the places like Babylon had their own complete system of fighting separate from Africa. no African conquest and cross pollination of systems, but their own separate system. the first man who made a pointy stick and showed another guy created a MA. now you would say that was in Africa because you are Afrocentric, so be it. none the less there were other MA none African.

anyone can write a book. one was written about how the world was created in 7 days a best seller i heard. different people agree to different things scholars from greece say pankration was the first fighting style, from india was dalilama and of course the encyclopedia dates it back to china the grandfather of all martial arts.

That's the thing. This guy doesn't have any proof that all styles originated from egypt. Fighting is fundamental in all societies. Don't you think it's possible that societies came up w/ styles independently of eachother?

if this was so lethal a style of fighting why was black egypt destroyed by the arab settlers, this is all propaganda,it may well be the oldest form of martial arts known but again we know very little of pre-hyloglyphic times (forgive my spelling),its like saying cars were developed in africa cause its the craddle of mankind hehehehe this is crap. its by folk moving about and needing knew skills that defensive and offensive arts were developed!!!!

That contradicts what the guy says. Duh, humans evolved out of Africa, and fighting started wherever humans started. That doesn't mean other styles couldn't have developed independently after humans migrated to other places. This guys is saying that people from other countries, like Japan, didn't have martial arts, and came to Egypt to learn them. Is it at all conceiveable that the guy is just talking shit on other styles to boost the credit of his own?

its very important to realize that Egypt was the information center of the world for centuries, and some of the libraries containing this knowledge were burned down by Europeans. so on the whole "fighting" didnt originate in Africa (because its self defense/natural, unless you want to say because man originate in africa...) the compiling and fusion through application of fighting styles is definetly plausible

A. What's to say they weren't different martial arts?
B. And the pictures may show some moves of different styles, but not all of them, how can you get books and books of judo techniques, but a picture of a judoka and an egyptian fighter stand next to each other proves that they're the same?

i want to thank you for your comment. true, there are many books and dvds on techniques. we are in the process in producing a dvd series that focuses one the philosophy of this system. remember a system of any kind is only as good as it's philosophy. most people don't understand that philosophy is the foundation for all fighting systems in existance.

Western scholars(anthropologis, archeologist, historians and scientist) claim that the Aryan/Caucasoid invasion brought the knowledge to build African/Egyptian civilzation. Historians of that era have disproved that claim. When the Aryans/Caucasoids invaded Africa/Egypt during the time of Alexader they found the Pyramids, Sphinx and all of Egyptian civilization.
