@Nem33 Uh, no. She grew up in Britain. In her normal speaking voice, she speaks in Received Pronuciation. For the X-Files, she manifests the Standard American Dialect.

@ElPayasoMalo She barely 'grew up' in Britain, she also 'grew up' in Puerto Rico. She spent most of her life in the US and her accent then wasn't put on. Look up the videos were she was doing an interview with Duchovany in England and all of the sudden she sounds American again. She's a chameleon. I know because I'm from Texas and the little time I spent in the New England, suddenly started to copy that accent pretty quickly. Point is, she isn't putting on anything here, I'd bet and I'd win

@Nem33 She spent less than two years in Puerto Rico and left Britain at like eleven or twelve. I didn't even know she had spent any childhood in Britain until she was doing an interview with some latenight talk show host from Scotland and she spoke in what she described as her "normal" voice. That was what they discussed for the majority of the initial time. He's like "We'll, you sound very British" and she talked about how she usually does, and affects the Amercan speech when it suits her.

@ElPayasoMalo I'm just saying, she naturally adapted to an American accent for the time she lived here, for most her life, on and off camera, and I'm pretty darn sure she wasn't faking it. It's not like you are shunned here in the land of accents for having one, especially when you're a famous actor, hell it makes you cool. I remember her talking about when she went back to Britain her voice changed 'back' to how she hadn't spoke since childhood.

@Nem33 I understand what you're saying, and I know living somewhere for an extended period will affect your accent, but my point is she learned to speak with a British accent. That's what she claims is her "natural" speaking voice, hence my initial comment. However, I will say that she is unique among most actors I'm familiar with in that she stays with one during a shoot, unlike most others who divert back when not in character, like Hugh Laurie or Simon Pegg.
