  • I remember when this pawn shop was featured in an expose on crooked pawn shops in Edmonton many many years ago, they guy was suspected of buying stolen property, and he acted rather inappropriately towards the reporter and cameraman.

  • this looks cool.

  • Don't give up on this Project Rosie, it is a winner. Great sound, nice shots, filled with colourful characters... well done.

  • Hmm, looks very interesting. Despite the wait, it will be worth it to see this when it finally comes out. :-)

  • i still look and sound like a dork in this film and when do i get to see the whole film?

  • Rich in character with an unusually compelling tone of social relevance.

Check audio levels on the "How much you want for it?" "Ten dollars." shot.

  • The doc will be broadcast on TVO, Knowledge and SCN (Canada) in the fall. At the moment it is waiting to be picked up by some festivals.

I will keep you posted. And yes, the doc is suitable for hgh school and university (if you don't mind the swearing).

  • Powerful. Where can we see the whole film? Can you imagine if this film was used in high school and university sociology classes?

  • It makes me want to see the documentary! This is a view into a world that I rarely see and that we all should see!

  • Interesting .. I think I would like to see the whole flick ..

  • Wow. I didn't realize that a movie about a pawnbroker could be so interesting.

I really need to see this.

    Good pick, Rosie.

  • i don't think i look good in this...

  • An important look at what we usually choose to look away from. Implicating and important. Looking forward to seeing the film!

  • Fantastic trailer. Dynamic characters. Socially relevant! Im eager to see the full documentary. Great work!

  • What great, unique characters and location! Can't wait to see the whole story. Congrats to you Rosie and your team.

  • Wow! Where can I see the full version? The intimate camera perspective on these business transactions and subjects draws viewers right into the pawnshop. We'd like to point fingers at the pawnbroker himself, but he's just the most visible/frontline product of this systemic inequality, in which we're all complicit. This is hard to watch, but necessary! Thanks for making this Rosie Dransfeld and company! (Love the film equipment in the frame!)

  • Thanks. I wanted this film to be an authentic voice for the comminuity. I hope it workked.

  • I´ve been lucky enough to see the completed film and all the characters stayed with me. It is a truly touching portrayal of a very unfortunate circumstance. Everyone should make time for BROKE. It´s truly worth while. Thanks Rosie.

  • Danke schoen, Linnie. Es war schoen, dich kennenzulernen. Alles Gute und viel Erfolg in deinem Praktikum. Bis dann denn.

  • nice, can't wait for the film. where did you find that shop, i wanna go there and just hang for awhile

  • A1 Trading: corner 95 Street/111 Ave

  • isn't it said how some folks have to sell their cherished belongings in order to just live. Something anyone takes for granted

Hope people will see this and share their wealth.

  • very special characters in wild realities. A slice of life we all need to see.

Thanks for making this. I can't wait to see the whole thing

  • This is an excellent film about poverty and the stories associated with having no other bank than a Pawn Broker.

    Well done film maker
