When repeating the process with the second shard, after selecting both the shard and the text and clicking "intersection", everything disappears, except for the parts covered by the two shards. What's up with that.

Maybe it's me, but the program seems slightly unreliable; even in your video one part didn't work at first, even though it worked perfectly when you repeated it afterwards.

Ta-daa! It worked after I undid the steps and did them again. I'm pretty sure I did them exactly the same way, but now it worked.
