What's horse shit about it? The good non-call because of Brodeur's horrible acting? Or Brodeur's horrible goaltending leading to a horrible choke job?
@Gooster43 I'm a Carolina fan, but Brodeur hasn't done any terrible goaltending in his life. He's one of the best of all time, and no one may ever stop pucks as well as him. Don't troll, be happy.
@ayashiiguy Well that would be nice if any of it were true. He's one of the all-time greats, sure, no one would deny that. He's not the greatest ever. He doesn't even make my top 5 ever. He's benefited from a great defensive system that allows his workload to be minimal and his games played to be maximized. But if you can't see how he has been the single greatest reason for the Devils' recent playoff failures, then you're being willfully ignorant.

It's actually not that bad of a town... It got a bad rep during the 70's and 80's much like New York City. Downtown Newark is like Jersey's own little Manhattan.
Oh, and Jersey isn't scenic?
High Point State Park is absolutely gorgeous.

And the last time I checked, all of North Carolina was an empty field with short rednecks walking around in pointed hoods and white robes.
Jersey is not a swamp... Hell, the Devils play in our state's largest city, and over 85 percent of our land is developed. But what the Hell do I know? I guess "swamp" is Carolina slang for "densely populated urban/suburban area."
Boy, you seriously know nothing of North Carolina. I love all the slavery references....especially since every state had slaves back then. What a fucking moron.
But just because we speak the truth in Jersey doesn't mean you have to breathe down our necks. ;)
Oh, and we don't play in the swamps anymore... Are all of our rival fans still oblivious to the fact that we have a brand new arena in Newark, NJ now that beats the shit out of RBC Center or any other NHL arena for that matter?

Hey, it's not like the Devils are immune to things like this happening to them. Can happen to any team at any time. Just so happens it happened against the Marty and the Devs. Oh well.
By the way, they have been bumping Marty all series so they're game plan seems to be working. I just wonder what tonight's game is going to be like. Will the Devs 'bump' Ward all game long?
all think it should have counted, it was a clean goal, carolina thoroughly outplayed the devils for 40 minutes anyways, carolina could've easily had 5+ goals thru 2 if not for the great play of brodeur, carolina might have choked in the 3rd but the better team "in game 4" was clearly carolina, they deserved to win..
lol, this is absurd. he got bumped outside of the crease, jokinen is just as entitled to the ice outside of the crease as brodeur. not only was the contact incidental, which right then and there means it isn't interference, but brodeur actually initiates the contact, lol at the homer call on msg, "he runs over broderur", yeah ok maybe in fantasyland. not to mention the fact brodeur embellishes the contact thereafter trying to draw a cheap penalty, there is a reason melrose, barnaby, etc
fuck carolina, jus a bunch a fuck cunts. fkn screen brody, no chance wus it enuf time for brody to set back up. fkn cheese call by the refs, bunch of scammers.

You can't obviously say that the goal should have counted. (no I am not a devils fan - I'm a flames fan) but like seroiusly that was retarded, should have been called no goal. Should have gone to over time. lol I am just saying you should be acting very lucky and not cocky.... thats all.
Why shouldn't it have counted? It went in with .2 seconds left, Brodeur came out of his crease and initiated contact with Jokinen, it wasn't even close to interference. I could care less about either team but your statement is based on pure opinion and comes off idiotic.

It's "you're" you illiterate fuck. Try learning basic grammar before calling other people "retarded." Marty skated out of his crease and while that doesn't mean hes fair game to bump into, hes vulnerable to getting bumped into by forwards trying screen. Long story short, stay in your crease and stop whining. Also, of course the shitty announcers are saying he was interfered with, they're Devil's announcers you twit.

Soooos yousss might thinks its goal, butz not tru. Go sing the stars and stripes and verbally attack someone who about your poor opinions. (also coffee is for cock mongers)
Jussi Jokinen drove to the front of the net to position himself for a screen while Marty Brodeur came out to cut the down the angle and ran into Jokinen. Incidental contact, good goal.
Brodeur was outside the goal crease when he got bumped, & it was incidental contact; Jokinen had his back turned to Brodeur the whole time & didn't even see Marty coming out like that. It was a good goal:-) I'm predicting that the 'Canes will take the series in six:-)
Thats a good goal. Goalies have it so good these days. Brodeurs out of the crease, jokinien's doing his job screening, brodeur skated right into him.
It seems Brodeur is always trying to draw these interference penalties, but really hes digging his own grave. There are tons of goals where marty gets pre-occupied with the guys in front.
Although, if I was a devils fan id be complaining too, jsut because that goal hurts and you wanna believe it shouldnt be counted
he is out of his crease by at least two steps because he is cutting off the angle. if you knew anything about hockey, its a pretty simple explanation. its not his fault. he was being screened by a 'Canes player, and it was a good shot.
um i most likely know alot more about hockey then u i have played it my whole life and i am a goalie so yah it was technically his falut and had no right to flip bc he was outside the crease and should of stayed in the crease if he didnt want to get hit so yah it was brodeurs fault
haha you are brutal kid. you cant just assume that you know more about hockey than i do. like i said above, he was coming out of his crease to cut off the angle of the shot, something that every goalie is taught to do. Brodeur wasn't even hit by anyone going through the crease. so you are wrong on that account. he was doing his job by cutting off the angle and he got beat easy.
ummmmmm ur making ur self look like an ass the reason why he was mad was because he was bumped into by i think jokinen who was screening him if u watch a different vid u see jokinen skate by the outside of the crease and brodeur gets pumped into outside the crease but they didnt call interference.... my last comment because ur the kid making ur self look like an ass probablly a devil fan..
I don't like the Hurricanes at all, but goddamn, that was one hell of a goal. I'm glad that the Canes tied the series. I'm glad that Marty Brodeur was crying afterwards and threw his stick at the boards as if anyone gives a fuck. Good job Hurricanes!
I havent watched much of the Canes/Devils series, I've been watching more of the Penguins/Flyers and Caps/Rangers, but I guess I should watch the next game of these two teams, looks like good competition.
It was a good call, but the Devils outplayed the Hurricanes in that third period and still proved that they are in indeed the better team. It's really been a matter of whether the Devils can finish the job, which has really been a problem for them all season, really. Although this play would eventually be called a goal, Forslund jumps the gun and engaged in deplorable, homerish play-by-play.
Rule 69.1 states "Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact."
Random... the entire league has said that the contact was incidental... if Brodeur stays in his crease it never freakin happens... of course if it was up to Brodeur (and every other goaltender frankly) ... the space where he is allowed to roam free without anyone in front of him would start at the friggen blue line.
If the forwards aren't allowed to skate in the white area of the ice in front of the net then where the hell CAN they skate?
yes but by the rules goalie interference can't be called if the player who makes contact with the goalie has made an effort to avoid the goalie which didn't happen here. he bumped into brodeur (with plenty of room around him so that he didn't make contact with him) and skated away. anyway, the shot was good so nice shot by the canes. game 5 sure will be interesting.
this is wrong. the rule is if the goalie comes out of his blue zone known as the crease he just counts as another player. was brodeurs fault. no one elses. get owned devils
Oh C'mon... there is a difference between "taking out" a goaltender and an incidental bump. Brodeur is as much to blame for the contact as Jokinen is because he didn't NEED to be that far out to begin with.
If he goes JUST to the top of his crease... there is no contact... and in all likelyhood he makes the save... and if there IS contact... then it's a penalty and there is no goal.
Brodeur made a mistake... why is it so hard to accept?
What you are suggesting is that a skater now no longer has the right to skate anywhere in the attacking zone because the goaltender may skate out of his crease and bump into him. And no more screening the goaltender... cause that means you could bump him... It's ludicrous.
Jokinen has a reasonable expectation that so long as he is skating on the white ice that he will NOT bump into the Brodeur. THAT'S WHY THERE IS A CREASE TO BEGIN WITH...
Jokinen ran into marty. Brodeur was a foot outside the crease watching the puck and jokinen came in and bumped him. he didnt try to move around him so its not incidental contact. I dont know how you think brodeur came out and bumped jokinen
it doesn't matter if the goalie is out of the crease........ Brodeur could have been 50' out of net and it would still be goaltender interference. The fact this wasn't called is complete and utter bullshit and I'm not even a devils fan
So what you are saying now is that players are not allowed to screen a goalie because they might bump into them...
In fact ... According to your logic... now all a goaltender has to do to get a shutout... is make sure that they contact an opposing player at any time and not only will goals that are scored against him not count... but the opposing team will get a penalty...
Both wins the canes have in the series were so lucky. Staal got a lucky bounce off the boards to tie it up 1-1 in game 2 and Brodeur was bumped and couldn't get back in time to stop the shot.
please.....the canes whiffed at an open net goal in game 3 with under 2 minutes to play. New Jersey has been outplayed the whole series. It should be 3-1 canes.
Oh really? take a look at the shot totals and faceoffs for all games 1,2,3, and 4. Both teams suck on the powerplay in the series and you guys had to injure Jamie Langenbrunner to come close to playing as good as us.
Really... we INTENTINALLY injured Langenbrunner? How is that? Where is the replay that shows the infraction that injures him intentionally? How's about a little back up on that hmmm?
Yeah i remember watching the game. Langenbrunner skated up to a guy and he fell and the guy jabbed him with the blade of his stick. I wouldn't they did it on purpose tho.
you can't see it in this video but brodeur was knocked down and couldn't get back in time to make the save. if he wasn't there is a 0% chance that shot was going in

Oh C'mon... there is a difference between "taking out" a goaltender and an incidental bump. Brodeur is as much to blame for the contact as Jokinen is because he didn't NEED to be that far out to begin with.
If he goes JUST to the top of his crease... there is no contact... and in all likelyhood he makes the save... and if there IS contact... then it's a penalty and there is no goal.
Brodeur made a mistake... why is it so hard to accept?

the difference between "taking out" a goalie and an incidental bump is that the player tries to avoid the goalie. Read the rules.

He did plus if you watch the replay there was so much room in front of marty mottau was the closet to marty and he was at least 7 ft infront of him

it doesn't matter if the goalie is out of the crease........ Brodeur could have been 50' out of net and it would still be goaltender interference. The fact this wasn't called is complete and utter bullshit and I'm not even a devils fan
PlanetPS360 2 years ago
So what you are saying now is that players are not allowed to screen a goalie because they might bump into them...
In fact ... According to your logic... now all a goaltender has to do to get a shutout... is make sure that they contact an opposing player at any time and not only will goals that are scored against him not count... but the opposing team will get a penalty...

Players sometimes act like they don't know they are interfering with the goalie.

Both wins the canes have in the series were so lucky. Staal got a lucky bounce off the boards to tie it up 1-1 in game 2 and Brodeur was bumped and couldn't get back in time to stop the shot.
njrenegade244 2 years ago
please.....the canes whiffed at an open net goal in game 3 with under 2 minutes to play. New Jersey has been outplayed the whole series. It should be 3-1 canes.

Oh really? take a look at the shot totals and faceoffs for all games 1,2,3, and 4. Both teams suck on the powerplay in the series and you guys had to injure Jamie Langenbrunner to come close to playing as good as us.
njrenegade244 2 years ago
Really... we INTENTINALLY injured Langenbrunner? How is that? Where is the replay that shows the infraction that injures him intentionally? How's about a little back up on that hmmm?
JudgeWapner 2 years ago
Yeah i remember watching the game. Langenbrunner skated up to a guy and he fell and the guy jabbed him with the blade of his stick. I wouldn't they did it on purpose tho.

fullnelson9999 2 years ago 2
you can't see it in this video but brodeur was knocked down and couldn't get back in time to make the save. if he wasn't there is a 0% chance that shot was going in
