Its time to let the past go and move forward. Thats the long and the short of it. We can go on with this line of thinking ontill the end of days. Irish americans will always call themselves Irish because we have a strong pride in our families heritage. When the first Irish got of the boat they were treated poorly and discriminated against, pushed into wars, and a strong national identity stayed with them, even flying Irish flags into battle during the civil war. That culture has stuck with us over here, and even though a lot of us are many generations out of Ireland, our families still hold on to that identity and that pride

(When i say 'you' i dont mean you, just people in general) Wer a proud bunch and at times that can be our downfall but mostly it makes us stronger, especially when we come together!

Their forebearers country wasn't invaded by a foreign race that occupied their country up to the present day.The Irish had to come here en masse because your people did all they could to destroy them including starvation. Try looking at it this way. The Irish, through strenghth of character, perserverance and a will to survive, escaped an awful situation and went on to build great nations all over the world. These are your people !!!! Their blood flows through millions of people across the globe. Be proud of us cousin. There's a reason me and my siblings have names like Francis, Dennis,Kathleen, James & John . It's a tribute, to where we come from. We love the dream of Ireland. You're living it !

No, it's regional and ancestral DNA. No way to disprove it. So even though you may be more adapt to Irish culture, Ireland, etc; You can stubbornly look at it however you want, but there is opposition because it can be proven. Just putting that out there.
