  • I was wondering what software you use to edit your videos? I'm having real trouble finding anything that will work.

  • @iiiimagoo Try a 3rd party app like MovieEdit by Paul FitzGerald, this will convert the 60fps footage to double length 30fps - then I just used iMovie.

  • @garethrowson Thanks heaps for that. I'll give it a go and see how I get on. It'd be nice to be able to upload some of my footage. Cheers.

  • does the camera die if it gets shot by a bb gun like 130ms??

  • im thinking of getting one for the lifeboat and other adventures . i saw the surfboard strap and i did think i would not use that on my board . i would make my own fitting . shame the FOV isnt as wide as the go-pro .

as the the surfer , he is ok but most importantly he loves it .

  • gopro ftw

  • A camera é muito boa, mas o surfista é muito ruim. Não ficou em pé em nem uma onda

  • hey, you wouldnt be able to put up a video on how to attach it to a surfboard would u?

same thing happened to me, great footage but it fell off coming out of a barrel, and then a paddleboarder found it 1 minutes later floating around.

  • Music by The Solar State - soundcloud/thesolarstate, twitter/thesolarstate

  • Sorry.... please ignore my comment, I just noticed you say you are using iMovie

  • Have just received my ATC9K and already need some advice please. What software do you use to edit your videos, I have a copy of Power Director 7 but it doesn't want to know. Don't want to upgrade to PD9 if it still won't handle the output from ATC. As you can tell I am not too familiar with editing software. Thanks

  • @MsMonkington no worries, only thing I can suggest is changing the suffix, so if its .mp4 try manually changing it to .mov and the programme might recognise it.

  • @MsMonkington I use iMovie on my mac and it works really well

  • the beginning does look super grainy/shoddy, i was like wait do i have to enable hd or something, but it started looking better later on.

  • It simply shows the results you can get using some of features the camera offers. It's an accompaniment to the main written review on the WideWorld website - readers can actually see the outcome of testing rather than just reading about it. All part of the assessment of the product - or review some would argue ;)

  • I really don't think this is a review

  • We all like to look good on our surfboard but it's even better when you can surf....

  • It's called 'firelight' by Kokino, a UK band. It's not been officially released yet so you may have trouble tracking it down but should hopefully be released later this year.

  • @garethrowson they're now called SOLARSTATE and you can listen to them and download it free.

  • please someone tell me the name of this song !!! thanks

  • Ha, and an equally awful surfer ;)

  • lmao it's keanu reeves in point break

    poser !

  • @garyfreefly1 Agreed, the silicon strap mount is rubbish - it came off on the first wave I hit and I actually did lose the camera - luckily it floated and someone found it a few days later washed ashore. You can read about the debacle on wideworldmag reviews.

This footage was a self made mount combining the silicon strap, a wooden wedge and a lot of duct tape ;) The camera proved tough though, surviving a few days rolling in the surf and does produce some great footage.

  • are you using the supplied rubber band to hold the camera to the surfboard if so I reckon you will loose the camera ?? I would have done if I had not used a safety lanyard to secure the camera to the board....it just wouldnt stay on the board in anything bigger than a couple of foot,,,,again a rubbish mounting

  • Thanks. Strange, I shot this on 1080 fine at points but most of it is 720p at 60fps. I use iMovie and a 3rd party app for processing the 60fps. Not sure why you would find it grainy, other than if you are shooting in low light, or perhaps your computer screen is such high res that you a viewing the footage much higher than 1080. Try uploading something and compare.a

  • @garethrowson Ive got one of these I find the footage pretty good the camera pretty good the mounts rubbish the customer service crap.....Ive had to make a new mount myself after Oregon scientific can not tell me where to buy a replacement in the uk...

Ive converted the self made mount to take gopro mounts (much better)

  • @garyfreefly1 Thats a good tip! so were you able to setup this camera on the GoPro mounting? Ive tried on my snowboard and also on my Motorbike.... the suction cup is completely rubbish, shakes all over and doesnt feel 100% secure when I'm 200kmh on my bike, while the goro, the suction cup even holds on the surface of my helmet..

On the snowboard and had to use the Velcro strap to tied it up on my boots.. to fit on the board also wasn't very secure... the silicon strap, completely rubbish again

  • Great review Gareth! I am also fresh owner of this cam. Have you post-processed the 1080p footage before uploading it to youtube? If so what software do you use? I am having problems with Full HD since even on Fine it looks somewhat grainy. Thanks.
