  • Daisy is mean :(

  • Daisy=1%

    Henry=99%

  • @RobertPhel : )

  • lol loved it!

  • I have a cassette with this song, and it has another version of the second verse, it goes like this: "Patrick, Patrick, here is your answer true: I know that trick, and it will never do. If you can't afford a carriage, then there will be no marriage. So I insist, I wont be kissed on a bicycle built for two". =D

  • Great, this song used to make me feel better about being single. But the not-so-well-known 2nd verse made me depressed

  • I LOVE IT!!! SO PURE!!! :)

  • love it

  • ( A lil giggle )

  • Sounded like one of a male pet bird I have trying to impress another hen.

  • SHE'S A GOLD DIGGER!

*insert Armin van Buuren's song* lol (yay ruining classics with new stuff! FEAR THE CHANGE)

    :D

  • I love this song! <3 Does anyone know where I can get it with someone singing? I can't find, (though I haven't looked long) where they sing the second verse!! ):

  • I've heard this song as a kid and finally I found it again. The most magnificent little tune ever ;) The lyrics reflect reality it seems ... I wonder if the last verse is real :)

  • True or Do ???? about the lyrics

    BTW

    Awesome !!

    I like it :))

  • ....nothing can be .more british than this ......beside a good pint on a rainy day.......

  • this is sort of depresing. is these the real lyrics

  • Woo Daisy! You go, sister!

  • how can u not like this

  • Amazing!

  • @TheLoyale Thanks!

  • I've had this song stuck in my head for several days now (well the chorus that is). :D thanks for putting it up.

  • HAL, PLEEEEEEEEEASE open the pod bay doors.

  • @maxpower789z I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

  • Song sounds better in Japanese.

  • wow, her response is rather cold.

  • I love dropping by this page for a sing song. Loverly.

  • @Jo7welder Thank you so much for coming by!

  • I always heard it as, "Michel, Michel, here is your answer dear...If you can't afford a carriage, then you can't afford a marriage.

And I'll be damned, if I'll be crammed, on a bicycle built for two".

  • I dont think this versions corect?

    sorry my spellin is bad

  • No, this is not the correct version, at least not truly. This IS however the correct chrous to the original song, there's a lot more than this to the entire song, which I can't find on youtube sadly

  • thanks?

  • Many thanks to kaburto1966 for posting one of the many cheeky responses that were written later. @ de$th1snt3nough, there is a version on here that is close to/if not the original song. It is on bloodandsnatters channel " GERALD ADAMS - - - - DAISY BELL "

I never knew that a song sung to me in my childhood had so much history.

Hope you find it as interesting as I did.

    Love and peace to all.

  • @ribbitribbitfrog Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • @de4th1snt3nough Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you will find the entire song.

  • @de4th1snt3nough type in A Bicycle Built For Two in the search box, and you'll get the whole song

  • @de4th1snt3nough

The full or correct version you are looking for is not called as above. It's actually called "Daisy Bell" and you can find on youtube. This is more of the nursery rhyme later used for children. You know they had remakes in the old days too.

  • @de4th1snt3nough

To further my comment. The original version had no reply. It was just Hernry Dacre asking the question.

  • /watch?v=1IkfilbKtTU&feature=related

That's the full version I think.

It doesn't have Daisy's reply though, sadly.

  • @wickedlovely6 It sure doesn't seem right!

  • o-o That'd hurt my bum. Riding on a bike like that. Rather walk hand 'n' hand instead. ^^ glad im not daisy.

  • aw. poor guy.. I have a rabbit named Daisy and randomly started singing this song to her lol so I looked it up. I didn't know there was a second verse. But I feel bad for the guy!!!

  • Really, I think he's better off without the silly girl. : )

  • aw! I didn't know she rejected him either or that his name was Henry! My little girl loves this song. I'm going to pretend it has a happy ending.

  • Good idea!

  • They should make a new third verse where Henry responds. It's trendy to go green nowadays, the bicycle for two might work. lol

  • I'm with you 100%

  • cool

  • You're cool

  • Omg.

I never knew there was a second verse and she deniiies him

    Now I'm sad =(

<__< -looks for the happy version-

  • Yeah, sorry for that.

Try to forget you ever saw this.

  • Yea I know, Thats messed up... He got turned down.. now I know why they always leave that verse out because it wouldnt be such a happy go lucky song anymore.....poor henry... :(

  • 52 years and I never knew there was a 2nd verse. Thanks . It's one of those songs that just pops into your head every now and then.

  • And rightfully so.

  • It is such a catchy tune. Thanks for your comment.

  • @muserwood someone could have made the 2nd part up themselves you know

  • Lovely.

  • Thanks.

  • Open the pod door Hal....

  • Dave... I TOLD you can't do that

  • There is a 'Another' version of this lovely song well known to rugby-type people and version is not actually the proper one. 'Daisy 'actually shares the bike - nice er?

  • Thanks for the information. I'll have to check that version out.

  • Daisy is a materialistic bitch.

    (:

  • Is that the White House in the background of the first pic?

  • appears so O.o

  • I had always thought I was Patric not Henry!

  • I don't know. Maybe it was Patrick Henry! :- )

  • i thought it was michael

  • haha my "friend boy" changed the lyrics to this song to answer me to prom. luckily he was nicer than daisy. :) this song is now one of my favorites! lol :)

  • How sweet! Have fun~

  • o thats so harsh form daisy lol

  • cest la vie : )

  • def dont speak French lol

  • : ) I don't either. I was just saying, in a resigned way, "That's life!" Peace ~

  • i love this song i sing it for my granddaughters and they love it too

  • What could be more precious?

  • nothing its so funny when a 3 yr old is singing such an old song in the supermarket hahahaha

  • : D Thanks for that image ~ You put a smile on my face.

  • hal open the pod doors

  • I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

  • : P Just for the record, this reply was from me, not CA4444... I just noticed by mistake and I hate when I accidentally comment under others' accounts. ~ I'm afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it.

  • I like this song reminds me that life is a bitch and we are all like Henry at some point

  • Thank you for your comment. You made me think. Are we ALL like Henry at some point? Do people who are born wealthy suffer in the same way as the rest of us? Of course, we are all human. Yet, I think of Archtopbrownies song, Hes Going Home and the lyrics, In youth he was a hellion but he came from a royal bunch A picture of rebellion, but he never felt the crunch. Namaste.

  • What a sad song.

  • Yes, I suppose it is.

  • I can't find that second verse anywhere else on the internet. WHere did you find it.

  • It was in a book I checked out from the library. It might have been a Reader's Digest or Robert Nye collection. If I see it again, I'll let you know.

  • All right, Thanks.

  • LOL...I love me Nan, Daisy Johnston, Trune, Scotland, RIP!

  • Thanks for your comment. I just had a glance at your favorites. There's a lot we have in common. For example, I think that Freddie Mercury had a beautiful voice and was an awesome entertainer.

  • I find it easier to sing it "If you can't afford a carriage", instead of "cannot". I have to sing "fiu cannot afford afford a carriage" otherwise. Then again, I couldn't tell a musical note from a dog's paw. :)

  • bleah, typo, only one "afford":

    "fiu cannot afford a carriage"

    sorry, :(

  • LOL, "fiu" You make a good point. Thanks again.

  • HAH HAH HAH ... great, funny. :D

  • Thanks!

  • =)

Does anyone have the full song?

  • I see from your "favorites" that you've found it. Ain't Youtube great?

  • what was my grandpa getting at trying to make me learn this song on guitar its beautiful (poor henry T.T that would be sweet for a wedding if i could actually ride a bike TT~TT)

  • I agree.

  • I think it would be cute to drive away from a wedding on a bicycle built for two.

Maybe hard to do in a wedding dress, but I wouldn't mind doing that for my wedding.

  • I love this song. I sing it to my puppy Daisy all the time.

    Poor Henry. :(

  • Daisy is a cutie.. Rrrrrr! Thanks for your comment.

  • by golly this is the absolute most polite little argument I have seen on the net.

I really like this song though it makes me feel happy but the response makes me feel bad for henry

  • :0-P Polite and probably pointless. I thought that JPC might be collecting those videos for some historical/political/social reason. Sadly, that was not the case. Don't feel too bad for Henry. He dodged a high-maintenance bullet and went on to marry an environmentalist. Thanks for your comment.

  • hee hee heee ... :D . . . I met a "high maintenance bullit" once ... we dodged each other ... oh but what a zinger she was! hahahah :)

  • LOL

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! My friend sang it to me and it stuck! now i sing it to all my friends! (the coruse at least :D)

  • Over one hundred years old and still as catchy as ever. That's what I call song writing! Thanks for sharing your comment.

  • .. Poor Henry, I feel for the guy.

  • Ha, ha, ha! I feel for him too! Then again, he was lucky enough (or smart enough -- maybe it was a test) to find out what type of woman Daisy was BEFORE they married...

  • Hello, and, I, too, THANK YOU!

  • You're welcome! You have an interesting collection of favorites. What is your purpose for collecting racist cartoons?

  • Hello, back, again.

I find the word 'racist,' a bit harsh when it comes to my interest in these 'old' cartoons.

I watched them as a child and was delighted to find them on youtube. Personally, I, find some of the characters portrayed in cartoons as being sweet and endearing, albeit, stereotypical, often times. However, a person's impression/reaction to anything is

in 'the eye of that beholder.'

  • I didn't mean to be harsh. I don't know you. I was just curious. You might have had a number of reasons for collecting those old 'toons. You are right about impressions being "in the eye of the beholder." In my eyes, "Obama's Mama Has a Hogasm." is offensive, not sweet. Some of the other cartoons are labeled racist in the title. I often find stereotypes painful even though I have been guilty at times of perpetuating them myself. Best wishes -

  • Deliziosa.

  • Thank you!

  • You really do love the "oldies," don't you!

  • :P Yes, I really do! I think it is partly because I can understand the lyrics. I mean, I have loved Elton John since I was in elementary school, but I haven't a clue what he is talking about most of the time.

  • This particular one was on my mind because I was reading my Great Grandmother's (The mother of the Grandmother I have recorded) diary. When she was 15, in 1890, she worked and saved up money for a "wheel." That is what they bicycles back then.
