Sarah sings this song many different ways. If you don't care for one -don't listen. I have heard 4 different versions -all great. Sarah has the tremendous talent to bring something special to each version. She has been showing this versatility for 30 years. Many of the others singers who were also excellent -- were one or two hit wonders.  Who can match Sarah? 26+ million CDs, concerts, etc?

Her technique (?) is good, but Memory has more feeling and depth in the lower key. Sarah sounds a squeaky here. Elaine Paige sings it better IMHO in the 1999 Birthday Concert.

I love Sarah, but I really don't like the way she did this song. :( She has a hard time keeping the light sound with the lower notes, which makes her feel awkward on the higher notes after hearing it. But it is a beautiful song and a beautiful singer... just not together.

My school did Cats this last year as our musical. It was so tempting for me to sing along, but I wanted to hear her. Then I was glad I didn't because that end note was so light and beautiful. I could hit that note, but it would have been very loud and have tons of vibrato. I've never heard a note that high sang so lightly and beautifully, ever.

I'm 17, and a soprano (at least I think I am - I can reach high D) and singing Memory for a competition, but I'm struggling with the lower notes in the mezzo key. I think I can use this key . It's not even very high... goes up to F5 I think, not more.
