Roach was a good boxer and a tough one. But his defense wasn't good and he took a lot of punishments even in a fight he won. He developed Parkinson's from those accumulaton of brain trauma, just like Ali. Now, if you are young and considering a career in boxing, remember, that's the price you MIGHT end up paying.

Roach was a good boxer and a tough one. But his defense wasn't good and he took a lot of punishments even in a fight he won. He developed Parkinson's from those accumulaton of brain trauma, just like Ali. Now, if you are young and considering a career in boxing, remember, that's the price you MIGHT end up paying.

Eddie Fuch told Freddie to quit boxing, but he didn't listen. He got a new trainer, and had more fights, after he'd taken enough punishment. That has a lot to do with his Parkinson's. Fuch offered him a coaching job, and he learned another skill from the old master. Fighters can make a trainer famous, but there's more to it than luck. Manny can afford any trainer on the planet, and he chose Freddie. If that doesn't tell you something, you don't understand pro sports.

I agree roach is an excellent trainer. But I think you can have the best trainer in the world, but it won't work out unless you have a fighter that can fight. That's what manny can do.
