the reason , that Duncan took Connor's head is because he (Connor) had lost all that he had, and all that he was and when one loses all that he is only one that is he equal can countine. you most remember that he said " good-bye, my true brother !" , if you ecer get that chance to lose one that is close and live more then one life time, you will understand the song and this clip. I must admit, i watched Highlander 1 2 and 4 (i thought it was 3 at the time), i loved the first one, hated the second one and actually liked the 4th, Connors death i thought was fitting and very bittersweet (saaaad)
As the line says, for the films "There can be only One". Speaking totally personally, I still think that the studio have absolutely no idea why the original film was so successful. It shows in the sequels.
I think any hardcore Highlander fan (like myself) will agree the first movie is the best. Endgame had some memorable moments, but it still suffered from a convoluted plot (if you're not a Highlander fan), choppy editing and a mediocre script. Highlander III was a redition of Highlander, but with a "cheaper" feel, and an almost carbon-copy Kurgan.
Lets just hope the remake sticks to the original premise, and doesn't try anything too....outlandish.

@connor2dap Most fans agree the continuity in Highlander doesn't make sense. Thus why the assumption of multiple universes, because of said inconsistencies. The remake on its own is a different universe by default, so its all OK, and nothing to be worked about.

@connor2dap No, thats not how it works. The Series universe just won't be the main continuity anymore. The remake and its subsidiaries will be.
Also, Panzer died three years ago. And Davis as sure as hell didn't sell any rights to anyone. He's working with collaboration with Summit Entertainment.
but when the remake comes out all these different uinverses will become non canon although that depends on how the film will be and its probaly going to be crap if you read the script like i did then you know what im talking about and the fans will still call christopher lambert the true highlander and the origianal highlander film the true canon story

The difference is, the other universes won't become so much as nill, as much as be seen as "done stories". The universe that will start with the remake will, hopefully, create new stories based on that film's Highlander.
@IamConnorMacLeod-I'm with you I'm looking foreward to the remake mainly because I'm a bigger fan of Connor than I am of Duncan I still say Connor should have faced Kell instead of Duncan. Back to the movie according to everything I've read they will make Connor the main charecter again so in my opinion as long as they go back to the basics & don't kill off all the immortals in the first one they might just resurrect the franchise. Have to say that I had hard time concidering Connor McLeod as one of the Highlander. I'm a big fan of Duncan.
But I admit that in a sense, he is the hell of an Highlander and was the one who made honorable the name of McLeod. He had a long and exausting life, but he never broke, not enven at the end.
His sacrifice, ultimate proof of his sense of duty and his wisdom, was the last lesson he had to bring to his pupil.
Maybe not the first in my heart, but undoubtly a true Highlander.

Wonderful video. It makes me remember how much i love the original Highlander. My great grandfather was a MacKintosh, from Inverness. Sadly, there is a whole new remake of this already awesome movie underway. These days, Hollywood is doing alot of remakes of movies that are already perfect in their original form. And those remakes, so far, have all failed at the box office. This movie should be left alone.

One of My Most favourite films of all time, maybe as a Scot it brings out my native instincts, haunting Scottish music and Magnificent Queen soundtrack to boot. could watch it every day
Connor Macleod did not win the prize. He thought he won it, because the quickening he received from The Kurgan, was so powerful that he thought he won the prize. But in reality, there were hundreds of immortals out there.
He actually did win in the HL1-HL2 reality. The Series/Expanded Universe reality that was established from 1992 and on with Duncan MacLeod followed a retconned HL1 were almost everything happened the same way, but with the twist that the Gathering didn't occur and that Connor wasn't the last one.
So, Connor won it in HL1 as it shows, and wins it again in the original sequel, but in the Series reality, he wasn't very close to winning it at all.
Highlander 1 is basically the original movie and according to the scenario it ends without any chances for a continue. In Highlander 1 they fight for the prize (watch the scene at the church) that makes the end permanent.
Ah. The second one is 'Highlander II, The Quickening'. I still remember the utter disappointment and disgust. Things they back-tracked on from the first movie.... the whole sword swapping situation....
The re-edits before DVD release helped a bit, but they can never edit out the story line. ;-)
The second wasn't that bad if you watch the "renegade version" which is to say directors cut. They removed all of the planet zeist references and things like that.
The song is Bonny Portmore, sung by Loreena McKennitt -- haunting in this instance. She has very lovely music with lots of Celtic, Irish and Middle Eastern influences.
I read an article about creator of Highlander (i can't remember his name) and he said that the first Highlander movie is the one he counts as actually part of canon.
I still like Duncan alternate Highlander universe though, just not as much.

This an awesome tribute to Connor Macleod. I"m a huge fan of the Highlander movies and series. I was pissed off how they did Connor. He was the one and will be the ONE. Don't get me wrong, Duncan is badass to. But Connor will always be the ONE to me. I Have of the movies even the source which sux ass and the series. A perfect video. I always thought this song was perfect, for a final chapter. Seeing it close out Connor's storyline, you hit the jackpot. To bad the studios that made Highlander, didn't see your genius.

The evil guy in the 4th movie was crap. I mean what made him so strong? Connor killed the bad guy in the 3rd movie and should be even able to use illusions. He killed Kurgan and shouldnt that have made him also very powerfull? 4th movie = Big Fail

Have to say that I had hard time concidering Connor McLeod as one of the Highlander. I'm a big fan of Duncan.
But I admit that in a sense, he is the hell of an Highlander and was the one who made honorable the name of McLeod. He had a long and exausting life, but he never broke, not enven at the end.
His sacrifice, ultimate proof of his sense of duty and his wisdom, was the last lesson he had to bring to his pupil.
Maybe not the first in my heart, but undoubtly a true Highlander.

conner macleod was the true of the true. greates of all Imortals, so is duncan. i dont blame duncan for what he did. in a sense he freed his brother conner. now conner is with heather, and ducan will carry on the fight. 2 of the grates Imortals in the end there can be only 1 and that one is conner macleod in legend to surpass all imortals.

Sadly he's too old to play connor anymore. I would have loved to have seen him in endgame looking the way he always did. But alas, the years took their toll on the man who plays an immortal.

Its about a young mclaod just like connor but he is much older. He fights against rome and his "love" gets killd so he search for this other immortal dude thats building empires over the world. Rome - Nazi empire etc.

Wonderful video. It makes me remember how much i love the original Highlander. My great grandfather was a MacKintosh, from Inverness. As a Scot, i would like to think the blood of the Highlanders flows through my veins.I believe that's why i feel such a strong connection to the movie. And Bonny Portmore is such a beautiful song. Sadly, there is a whole new remake of this already awesome movie underway. These days, Hollywood is doing alot of remakes of movies that are already perfect in their original form. And those remakes, so far, have all failed at the box office. This movie should be left alone.

Connor Macleod did not win the prize. He thought he won it, because the quickening he received from The Kurgan, was so powerful that he thought he won the prize. But in reality, there were hundreds of immortals out there.

He actually did win in the HL1-HL2 reality. The Series/Expanded Universe reality that was established from 1992 and on with Duncan MacLeod followed a retconned HL1 were almost everything happened the same way, but with the twist that the Gathering didn't occur and that Connor wasn't the last one.
So, Connor won it in HL1 as it shows, and wins it again in the original sequel, but in the Series reality, he wasn't very close to winning it at all.

Highlander 1 is basically the original movie and according to the scenario it ends without any chances for a continue. In Highlander 1 they fight for the prize (watch the scene at the church) that makes the end permanent.

It spoilt it for me when Duncan took Connors head! It didn't make sense as Connor had already won the prize in the first Highlander movie.

Ah. The second one is 'Highlander II, The Quickening'. I still remember the utter disappointment and disgust. Things they back-tracked on from the first movie.... the whole sword swapping situation....
The re-edits before DVD release helped a bit, but they can never edit out the story line. ;-)

The second wasn't that bad if you watch the "renegade version" which is to say directors cut. They removed all of the planet zeist references and things like that.

I read an article about creator of Highlander (i can't remember his name) and he said that the first Highlander movie is the one he counts as actually part of canon.
I still like Duncan alternate Highlander universe though, just not as much.
