Willie and Bo loyal friends RIP and friends of me RIP. On my death bed I will remember them. May there fields always be green and the sun always shine. My heart was broken.
Hadn't listen to much of Steve's music till lately, though I've always been aware that he portrays a sense a sincerity and honesty. Now I'm traveling 12 hours to see him in Missoula Montana on June 18th and Ray Lamtagne on June 20th. What a combo!!! If you're gonna be there... see you there. If not, buy your tickets now.
where can you find the version of the song in the video? tennessee blues. this version is different from the album version and i had it at one point...but i can't find it anywhere.
I love Steve, but spurcross said it 4 mos ago...Steve doesn't know anything about the chaos on the Mexican border or the violence. The problems with Mexico are in Mexico. They need to fix it down there and not blame us for the economic problems. Want in? Go the legal route like others did before.
Odd that he said he was a last hold-out for recording tape/analog, because he was one of the very first artists to record fully digital back in '86 - '87 (probably a decision made by MCA at the time). I love this guy and have always wrestled with his politics, musical style shifts, etc., but at the end of each period I come away a die-hard Steve Earle fan. My own political views have been an evolution process - the longer I live, the more I see and learn.
No offense, Earle, but you haven't lived in Southern AZ. Until then, I'll respect your sentiments as those of a good-natured but naive man who is a great musician.
English isnt my first language, but Im trying and I thank my Instructor for introducing us with this Author. I would thank any of you who would make comments about the contrast between the two songs mentioned above.
and have been reading through all your comments, since I find them very helpfull, but I have to say that this author is Xcelent and he performs awsome so I joint those who write in his favor. I also like you to excuse my mistakes,
just wanted to say that this is the first time I hear this singer and I ended up here, because I have to write an Essay for an English class Im taking, and its about Copperhead rd and Oki from Muskogee,
hes just like all get in line with the commy status quo ..nothing rebelious here ..just another sean penn socialist ....he aint no freedom loving american and he definatly aint no damn Texan.....lolll...Ill bet hes got mao tattoed on one ass cheak and stalin on the other.........just another traitor ..hey steve F.O...you suck
@canwejustgo whats canwejustgo stand for? (can we just go fuck ourselves?) cuz thats what you can do! he's seen more stood for more and conquered more in half his lifetime than your pencilneck liberal little ass ever will ! whats tattooed on your ass? (ENTRANCE) and (WIDE RECIEVER) lol lol lol ! so what the fuck you ever do? write a fucking poem? and sit in a dunk tank for a fundraiser you clown? Or better yet sit around scratching your nut sack and watch the cows graze!
I went to see him in 2001 or so at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. What a show. It was him and a fellow poet-convict from Chicago(I wish I knew his name. He was great...if anyone knows please respond) taking turns "saying songs" in a real beatnik style. Amazing. That was the first set. The second set was all Steve.
beautiful, loved Steve Earle for more than 20 yrs, his music and his love for people have been an inspiration for my life for years...incredible....wonderful...there are really no words..
I'm a late comer to Steve Earle, always had him on the radar but never really got much past Guitar Town, Copperhead etc. However, I've had time to listen, like really LISTEN this last few months, and man ! Never, ever expected my musical education to be making this big a quantum leap forward at my time of life ! Steve is a genius ( and I use that word advisedly and sparingly ) and I am having a BALL working through the back catalogue. Saw him last month in Manchester - what a gig ! Thanks Steve
Man, I know right where you are at. After Jerusalem I went back and bought all of the old catalog and cant seem to stop wanting learn all of the songs as I am consistently amazed at the hooks, insights, and just pure musicality of the seemingly simple tunes that cut so deep
Steve Earle is amazing. Im not upset some people dont understand his music. But stay out of the comment section if you honestly dont get it. You only come off sounding like Kanye.
Dear Sir or Mam, If you do not like Steve Earle or do not like this style video, why listen? The best thing sbout the internet is finding what you enjoy. Why bash on something you don't like and then check to see what everyone said about it? People like you confuse me, you are always "holier than thou" and can't leave it alone. Don't bother trying to post back I spoke my mind and that's all I have to say on the subject. P.S. I'm sure I misspelled something.
Hey man, I agree with you! This isn't a spelling competition, people rush to make comments and make typos etc. Steve Earle is great and I don't waste my time posting comments on stuff I don't like!!!
why?is it because i call someone out on a negative comment on a musician that people obviously came here to listen too.maybe your the asshole.think about it!
look at your comment mysteria."he aint no genius."ok im not big on using aint in a sentence.but if you insist on using it,it would be he aint a genius.aint is a replacement foe is not or am not.you made it a double negative.guess you aint no genius either.haha
I totally agree, he was just perfect for the role and I think he provided a great ending for Bubble's whole quest, fucking loved it. The guys a genius
I saw Steve Earle in Chicago in 2003 at the Vic in Chicago. He was supporting John Kerry and gave his normal speech before singing. It was pretty obvious that his fans didn't follow him politically. We love his music, but not always his political views.
I commented before that I didn't like the beard but a very short close trimmed one would look great, but I'd prefer none. I've been a Steve Earle fan for years and loved him from the moment I first heard his voice - guitar Town - and when I saw what he looked like on TV - WOW! Super5 cute!!!
How be one be moved by an artist and not understand how humanity informs "politics"? Is Earle saying all the things you can't, or won't, because your struggle for the buck won't lead you to the tough choices and conclusions he's made? Besides, you must know Rush Limbaugh won't be releasing an album soon. Take care, work for peace, and embrace Earle's populism... the songs will open up even more for you then, instead of being emotive set pieces from the "other" side of life.
dude ive said that for years haha. Im not super political but always feel im the only somewhat conservative minded person at his shows haha. God he's good though, anyone could like his music.
Yep I'm 180 from his politics but musically and lyrically this guy is the greatest since Bob Dylan or Willie Nelson. He's REAL, that's why I love him. 90% of the liberals are just lying for publicity. Steve doesn't give a shit, he's what he is. The last time someone came through like him they called him The Man in Black!
god i love Steve Earle's blend of country style with leftist values and understanding - by the way to the dumbass ur talking about, most people are uniformed and therefore act only in their own self-interest, so publicity is certainly not a factor for liberals, their political views generally put them at a disadvantage - esp. in country music moron! Even the fucking dixie chicks got fucked for one comment about Bush - you're a fucking moron - not you random artist, the guy who said that 90% shit
Steve Earle is real, he's honest about who he is & what he believes. You don't find that very often in the society we know today. I hope Steve writes a hundred more books & at least as many songs! God Bless Ya Steve!
All I gotta say is Elijah's Church--one of the most amazing songs that I've ever heard.
