Lovely. This is, I think, my favorite of your songs so far. It's haunting (as someone above said) - and I love all the natural imagery. It truly paints a "word-picture." I'm not sure how I feel about the verses alternating (natural imagery in the first, not in the second, in the third, not in the fourth) but it was still very powerful. (I may also be betraying my love for sonnets here: I like the idea of a piece that has one image and then has an end segment that changes the tone, way too much).

I love the enjambment in the phrasing, the lyric way you present the lyric--I was reading something about how Sinatra oftentimes made a song his own that way.

I don't know much about music, Tom, but I know what I like. And I like this. In fact, I connect with its "rising"... You take risks with this one; it feels new. And it works.
