The US needs its industrial jobs back. The US needs to put 40 dollar tariffs on imported goods, from developing countrys, that cost more than 70 dollars. This will get some goods cheaper. Manufacturing jobs back in the US. Unstable countrys like Iraq, Mexico, Columbia, Hati, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan make a free trade agreement with those countrys for goods that cost up to 85 dollars, they can be brought in with no tariffs. Other resources like intellectual property (information) or human labor are also types of resources that receive greater value based on scarcity as well. Over coming labor resource issues can help be tackled with innovations in technology but intellectual property is still solidly guarded.

Here's why there are no jobs... You can't have over seas trading with communist countries that force their people to work for pennies on a dollar and american corportate businessmen buy from them and sell those products cheaper than the american's can create the same product. Why are the corporations sending their labor overseas? It's because we have the highest corporate tax rate in the world and that is making it hard for businesses to profit which makes it harder for them to grow and create more jobs. Our government is spending worthless paper backed by nothing that is loaned to them by the Federal Reserve crooks and then saddling all of us with the bill. The first people to leave are the ones that can still afford to. The rest of us are already screwed.

The only jobs available in this country are service worker jobs-we have people graduating from 4 year colleges who now must work at McDonald's to have a job. Higher education is a scam in this country when there are no jobs to be had. I feel we are just a few steps away from being third world, and the US government approves of it all. The US needs its industrial jobs back. The US needs to put 40 dollar tariffs on imported goods, from developing countrys, that cost more than 70 dollars. This will get some goods cheaper. Manufacturing jobs back in the US. Unstable countrys like Iraq, Mexico, Columbia, Hati, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan make a free trade agreement with those countrys for goods that cost up to 85 dollars, they can be brought in with no tariffs. Get people in those countrys working they will put down their guns.

@gmcbuses:Yes, US, enjoyed double digit growth in the 19th century with high tariffs protecting domestic labor. The elite dismiss tariffs as the blame game blaming China instead of blaming the US. The blame is squarely on the elite for deliberately increasing overhead for businesses in the US through regulation designed to destroy domestic manufacturers/services, increase costs for middle-class, while making deals with elites in countries with no regulation to export to the US with no tariffs..

Stop blaming other people. Its all our fault for not doing more to make sure officials, congress and our president dont get away with all of these unlawfull actions. If we should blame someone for all these problems; how about we start with ourselves for being so lazy about making sure congress and others keep their promises during campaigns.

I hate Paul Craig Roberts, his policies and work for Reagen are a sick and psychotic form of neo-liberal economics. That said, even Roberts realizes that his concepts have been taken extremely too far. He admits it around 2:00 when he talks about the country going "third-world". The deregulation of Reagen and Roberts led to the system that we currently have today. Bush, Clinton, Bush and now Obama are exponentially making it worse, but it remains a legacy of Reagen. He who implemented.

@Lingerfoot Most of the manufacturing jobs have been outsourced to India and China. China's economy is expanding rapidly. They are the biggest lender and the US is the biggest debter.
The US is dominated by service industry jobs and it's only real role in the world economy is as a CONSUMER. The world can do without it.
Furthermore, the US dollar is losing value and falling out of favor. The Hong Kong dollar will likely replace it as the world's standard currency.

@AEVautomatic ever go to a grocery store and ever say "they're running out of food" ? Don't think so. They usually never sell out of food, so that food would be wasted for going bad over time. It's hard to imagine making resources for survival as abundant as air, because we all live in the monetary system which feeds off of scarcity. If we decide to start managing resources more wisely, we could actually end poverty and hunger throughout the world. Just step outside the box for once.

@KurzLuppii Perhaps we could expand our resource base. I'm projecting into the far future a bit but we're currently limited by the amount of resources available because they all come from the Earth. If we could expand to mining the moon, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt, our base of resources would start to expand. Of course this is costly but imagine if the U.S. had kept pushing the space program like it did in the 60's until present day instead of war after war.

@timongarretson Actually I've thought about this some more and I would like to add that my comments on expanding the resource base was looked at narrowly and only expands our mineral resources. Other resources like intellectual property (information) or human labor are also types of resources that receive greater value based on scarcity as well. Over coming labor resource issues can help be tackled with innovations in technology but intellectual property is still solidly guarded.

There is nuclear technology using thorium, which is very clean. Solar works very well, wave energy harnessing along the shores. @CCLGamer typo, should be caldera. Think about it. Much of Yellowstone is not that special to look at compared to other places. So why did they make that energy resource a national park? Federal land has since the start been defined as land available for anyone to exploit and develop. UN designated national parks is a way for the robber barons to cut off that access to natural resources and keep the land off limits, until the day when they decide to make use of that land for themselves

There is no money in free energy, so no capital will be offered from capital investments to that end. The energy business is a business model about restricting energy to the market to increase the price to the maximum sustainable pain level while maintaining a monopoly on providing energy for the market.
Geo-stationary orbital solar power stations, thermal energy, and fusion power are technologies that will be kept off limits by the ruling elites who want to dominate and control populations.

There is no Free energy.
To get thorium you still have to mine it.
To put a plant in Yellowstone you still have to invest and put capital into it.
The reason we don't have Geo stationary power stations is they ARE EXPENSIVE. Fusion power doesn't work right now.
Though I agree with the whole ruling elites and big government.
First step is to fix that... then there will be more prosperity.

BUT, when you study the Quantum Theories, it says energy is everywhere we can use or collect. Nicola Tesla did it, and many followers after him proved it and invented various machines but all of them being suppressed even killed.
Of course, the mainstream institutions (Universities, colleges) won't teach nor discuss these truth. Would they?

Oh I agree energy can be tapped (Zero Point energy is pretty interesting) though you need to put in the man hours, capital, investments to get at it.
There is so much science that is closed off mostly because of the government sadly. Some little part of government agency gets paid off and they go around doing corporate bidding.
