What's the difference as we all try hard To make this world better? If it's thrift or if it's vintage It is still your grandpa's sweater Either way three cheers for you 'Cause it's better to reuse Than to support the corporations buying crap they mass produce You think, you think, you think You think I'm preaching to the choir But I am not, I'm not, I'm singing with the choir We are all birds, birds of a different feather We each sing the way we sing And we are all in this together
Miami Advice I was feeling master blasted Lost my id, my auntie entity And just because it's real to you It isn't not pretend to me And did you know my L-bro Taught me positively everything I never didn't know about Double negativity Have you been unfollowed for Misogynistic dickiness? Sitting home alone in a pool Of your own stickiness? Jerking off to your own tweets, iPhone on the shitter While you insult everyone else for For what they write on twitter
@FireDropTechnologies I'm sorry the 7 billion other people on this planet don't agree with you. Not everyone hates or loves the same thing, get over it. And if you like Aesop Rock, and Aesop Rock believes Kimya Dawson is a great enough artist for him to appear on most of the tracks on her latest album, Thunder Thighs, then I'm sure she's good enough. Overall: Fuck You. There are millions of artists, and billions of people, not everyone will like everyone elses types.
@FireDropTechnologies What has being nice gotta do with anything? Unless for some reason you are talking about beautiful girls who are famous without talent. In wich case, Kimya isn't one of them. In fact, she isn't event hat good looking, wich helps sift real fans from fake ones.
@shyko95 some mistakes I THINK i found: in verse 1 its "misogynistic ickyness" and "for what they write on twitter". In the chorus is "banana(?) middriff, so appealing. In Verse 2 its "strummy strum". In Verse 3 its ""was it man or was it beast", and, not sure, "an olympia hippie" + "if it's thrift or if it's vintage". Hope that helps!
@americannable Artists write about whatever they want, that's art. Art doesn't change itself for an audience, or censor itself, it's the sound/image/taste/feel/smell of that person's soul. It's them... put into differant forms and sensations. Art is free, so only the person should have complete control over it, so they're able to do with it what they will.
@americannable when an artist mentions a social networking website it can be a massive turn-off, like how i've heard Facebook pitifully referenced in some rubbish R&B ballads. it can obviously sound cheap/naff. but i think Kimya gets away with it just fine, it's satirical. it's hardly product placement. & to censor corporations from music like they don't exist, corporations that play an undeniably massive part in every day people's lives (whether you like it or not) seems much sillier in a way.
@americannable Well, if we're gonna split hairs… you mean social networking sites like Twitter which is owned by the corporation Twitter Inc.? or Facebook which is owned by the company Facebook Inc.? Anyhow, though I'm cynical of these websites, I disagree nothing meaningful happens on them, like when my sister updates me with photographs of my nephew and niece growing up from the other side of the country, to name only one example. But anyway, we don't seem to be disagreeing much about Kimya.
@bachelorfox i wasnt talking about corporations. i called out social networking sites, like were suppose to pretend anything meaningful happens in these contrived locations. and i think kimya uses satire ultimately for an ernest portrayal . to me, if she gets away with it, its because of her feminine stance
I've been listening to Eminem obsessebly for the last 5 years, then I found Kimya, she suplies the cuteness, firendship, and personality I needed, added with the angry, poetic rap-like wordplay, to become my favourite artist of all time... Almost, for the last year her and Eminem have been fighting for the top spot, they've both got an album out this June so I geuss it all depends on that. Also I have to be honest, I only heard of Kimya due to Juno, but I live in the UK so I never hear of her.
The problem with this song is it doesn't come to life until 3:30 into the track. She does enough lyrically to make me listen to the whole thing, but I'm only mildly bobbing my head to it.
I can't believe that this song doesn't have more views. I swear I have shared this beautiful song with everyone I know, even the non-believers who roll there eyes. They just don't get Kimya, I feel sorry for them.

chorus x2
I was feeling overrated
I was feeling undersmarted
When they looked me in the eye
And then it smelled like someone farted
Was it man or was it beast,
Or was it just my upper lip,
Was it an Olympia hippie,
Or a New York City hipster?
mrskimyadawson 3 months ago 2
If I don't set aside time for writing songs I go insane
The stuff that's left unsaid just turns to static in my brain
It's hard to get things done when my head is full of craziness
It's when I am the busiest is when I seem the laziest
I'm sending off my monkeys on the backs of the pink elephants
So it doesn't matter if my lyrics are irrelevant
Tossing out my thoughts like handfuls of confetti
Add a little strummy strum and I feel better already
mrskimyadawson 3 months ago 3
Here's a little bit of Miami advice
For when your hand is down your pants and there's a gun between your eyes
And she cocks it the minute you cream your jeans
You say "Baby do you wanna ride my Sound Machine?"
She'll say "No" but she'll laugh and drop the gun, I think
And say "Do you wanna know the story behind my new ink?"
And she'll say "Hey little man, why can't you see there is no spark?"
Take off your socks, put on your shoes, go get eaten by a shark
mrskimyadawson 3 months ago 2
My delivery is speedy
Can you McFeel me?
Banana midriff
So appealing
Head is in the clouds
And my feet are on the ceiling
The foundation is much uglier
Than what it is concealing

@FireDropTechnologies "Shear Discust", "suck's with teath", random capitalization...
Who wouldn't be eager to take criticism on their musical taste by a genius such as yourself? I'm sure Aesop would be proud.
