as horrible as the 2000's music was (and is), this performance started a pretty good mini "latin invasion" at the end of the 90s with some great artists... and then everyone and their mother started singing in spanish (ie.christina aguilera)
You can tell that ALL the performers gave it their all, the dancers, musicians, etc. nobody slacked. They knew it was Ricky's chance to blow them out of the water, and he did. I was lucky to see it and I was like holy shit, amazing. The stage is bursting w/ energy, which at the end managed to fire up an insipid audience.

@rojose08 the explosion of latin music into the mainstream music all over the world was in 1999. this was one of the major events that brought that about. this great performance really catapulted ricky martin into worldwide stardom along with the rise to fame of other latin american artists.
Because it brought Latin music a little more to the forefront at a time when it was ripe, and the show was SUCH a snore until this! It's not even a good song, but at least it woke things up a bit!
