Can't say I remember any airline crash on water where this was actually needed.
Did they pay volunteers based on who got out first? I remember they did that for one test and proved just how unreliable and unsuccessful such evacuations can become.
Hahaha can a Boeing 747 evacuate all its passengers like this ??? LOL no wonder 727, 737, 747 was involved worst aviation disasters in world history. You ain't going if it ain't Boeing? If it was Boeing, you are going, going to die that is...
@ThomasH20mop 747 had major design flaws that cost the lives of over 5,000 people, I don't like American companies, because all of them have one thing in common, profit first instead of safety first, thats why I like Airbus. Without Airbus, Boeing would have a market dominance in large jets so price would be through the roof and technology development would be extremely slow. Because of the A380 Boeing made the 747-8 without the A380 the 747-8 won't be invented for another 30 years.
Sadly in reality it will take much longer because of the people who fuck around in the overhead compartments trying to get their luggage and getting in everyones way.
There's no REAL fire and REAL smoke. so it's nothing comp[ared to a real emergency. its true. remembered running through the bruning aisle on USAir 1493 when i was 14. It was black. toatally... they should make people scared when they do their drill
Oh my god, i really think in real its much worser i mean in one minute i think half of the plane is gone. Just woke up and watching this and am flying on saturday. My eyes really got a bit "watery" when i saw this video, i would never like to die in aircraft problem.
Onboard safety videos have spoiled me - I was actually a little startled at first at seeing everyone in a state of semi-panic, as opposed to being unrealistically calm.
This was a really cool video (I like the cheers of the people at the end).
My dad used to work for Fokker and once told me a story about a different flight company that wanted to do an evacuation that had to be as real as possible.
They wanted a situation with some form of panic or mayhem, so someone came up with the idea of giving a small group of people that got out the fastest a small cash prize.
The result was that people started to fight trying to get out of the plane as soon as possible.
achtung achtung, schnell schell!!! Notice that all these people are all young people between 20-40. Theres no old people falling over or hysterical mothers with babies!
the evacuation took place only with half of the emergency exits used. the requirement is that the plane can be evacuated within 90 seconds with only half of the emergency exits working.
as if people in a real case would act so quite and let the others go first haha they would punch everybody away to be first at the slide people always carry about themselves first it is like that
I don't think so. Maybe a few woul act so, but there are some "real" cases of plane evacuation (the hudson ditch for example...) where the people where calm and the evacuation happend in an ordered manner.
And: This test is not meant to proof, that an evacuation will take not more than 90 seconds... it's meant to proof, that it is "possible" to evacuate in 90 seconds.
The evacuationg of the Air France A340 in Toronto took less than 90 seconds and the plane was on fire (flight 358 if you want to look for details) . It was a mixed population with old people and children too. There was no violence reported afterwards. I want to say there was no violence at all, but I wasn't on board...
I agree with you to a point, although I wouldnt punch people, lol, as that wouldn't help any.
Many people are complete uncaring, discourteous assholes on just a regular day to day basis, put them in this kind of situation and they'll trample over anyone to get out of that plane.
Also, one of the flight attendants in the hudson crash was pushed out of the way by passengers; she said so herself in an interview. It may not have been violent but it certainly wasn't dignified.
@LS6CamaroA4 . that's not seen as a problem and is reported as minor injury and will happen most of the time. The most important thing is that EVERYBODY must evacuate in less than 90 seconds!.
wow! can anyone post the link to me of a video that is the a380 which fires u out with a parachute on. (its when the plane is going to crash in the air and u put on parachutes - they the door blows off and shoots you out!
They'd have twice more exits available because half of of them were condemned for the test. I frankly think that people would run and jump faster with fire behind the back.
every time an airline purchases a plane that is new to their fleet, like the A380, the flight attendants must go through this evacuation test to qualify the plane for use by the company. in the test, the crew is required to evacuate the aircraft in 90 sec or less, no matter how large the aircraft. with 1/2 exits inop or blocked, this crew did and excellent job of accessing and operating their assigned exits and clearing out over 800 pax in 77 sec, way under the 90 limit. Right On Luftansa
sure at some fire to the drill and lets strap you to it and hope that another pax will help you out of your burning seat. won't be me. i'll being at my assigned exit shouting instruction to get out. dude the test is a standardized test as others have told you. but lets do one your way and you be the only non survivor during a aircraft qualifying test. so sad too bad. thank you for flying with us today. i was not just and airline worker, but a senior international cabin crew member, a purser
Cool video. Serious stuff but the over-dramatic music makes it pretty funny. The member of cabin crew at ~0:48 (~0:24 on the clock in the top right) seems a bit over-the-top too.
Also, watch the the last two of the crew to leave. The guy misjudges it at the top and sort of bounces, while the woman totally wipes out at the bottom.
foth: She's all the way at the front with no emergency exit nearby. I guess all she can do is herd the passengers as if they were sheep, screaming "Schneller! Schneller! Raus! Raus! Raus!" Otherwise... she'd be standing there doing nothing! ;-)
all these people saying "this test doesnt show real conditions"...Ok, remote controlled A380, you all get free tickets to ride...I will fly the plane from the ground and crash it into a field, let me know how the evacuation test works out.....dipshits
Use your common sense please...shocks(-_-) philosophers, all the planes have this test, I saw an evacuation test on the 777, it was quite nice as this, you're just lucky to see this tests personally, unlike other aircrafts we never knew if they have a test or not, if it passed or not, and regarding your RC plane, maybe you could install something to make it deploy, and maybe it will look so real^_^
In a real accident, not only would there be the old and really young, but people would be panicking, crawling over one another in a desperate effort to escape.
Have you ever seen that video of the TACA runway overrun where one passenger happened to be filming it? People freaked out and that crash wasn't even a truly bad accident.
agree...when there's a real accident..people will not listen to cabin crews..they will be screaming...and crawling over each other...where's that video?
totaly wrong. If cabin crews do their job, ppl panicking will be listening as well, cause when a human get lost he looks for marks, and crew is a nice mark.
im not being rude to fat and old people but they wouldn't have a hope in hell in getting out alive if that crashed in the ocean thats why they didn't put fat and old people on the test. if they did put old and fat people on not one airplane would have passed the safety test.
I don't know why you are discussing about this standardized Test? It's a Test under conditions that are allowed when testing EVERY Plane. What you do is like complaining about the unrealistic conditions in which the petrol consumption of cars is tested in the factory.
This is the exact same test every new aircraft needs to go through. Is it completely realistic? No. But it's as close as they'll get without truly endangering the lives of the people participating in the test. The 777 test is on youtube as well, and you'll notice the exact same type of screaming, and the exact same conditions. You don't like the test? Write to the authorities, tell them you want them to put on 85 year-olds and infants, at the risk they won't survive. See where that gets you.
Excellent evacuation drill! Imagine the stress of those flight attendants: If they f*** up, a multi million project goes to waste :) I wish the US airlines would now stop taking the pressure and adopt this magnifissant airliner!
Guys, if the aircraft had bellylanded, would it still deploy the Right3 and Left3 which s the overwingexit, I see it goes under the Right4 and Left4 and UpperDeckRright3 and UpperDeckLeft4....What gives `?
A few days ago I traveled on a Boeing 757 from Seattle to Minneapolis. Across the aisle was a young woman who was brought in by wheelchair. To let 2 ppl to their seats next to her, she had to manually swing her legs out to the aisle. I didn't see somebody like her in the test so what are the airbus plans?
The whole test is standardised. Not only the time but also the percentage of people from different age groups, body heights, gender and probably also disabilities are exactly specified.
Like it'd be that quick in an actual fire, with smoke maybe, and passengers freaking out and battling to be the first to the exits... cool in a practise though.
This is highly impressive but also very scary! It shows that, when it comes to saving the lives of everyone, flight attendants have the right to be bossy. It's unbelievable how everyone can get out alive.
wow! the same Flight Attendant that can serve and prepare a 5 star meal can also evacuate a aircraft and save your life!!! Thats what I call multitasking!
Can't say I remember any airline crash on water where this was actually needed.
Did they pay volunteers based on who got out first? I remember they did that for one test and proved just how unreliable and unsuccessful such evacuations can become.

@JundaComputersGmbH
idiot...what makes a boeing plane any harder to evacuate than an airbus? the 747 has been in two of the worst air disasters in history, yes, but
A) It was not boeing's fault (Japan Airline's bad maintenance and an impatient KLM captain)
B) It was the largest plane in the world from 69-06
Give the a380 time, it will eventually (if it succeeds) have a worse fatility rate than the 747.
