  • Anybody knows - is this the song the famous "6 million ways to die" vocal sample comes from ? Or this song also samples it from somewhere else ?

And why it's "6 million" and not 5 million or 7 million ? What's the meaning behind this number ?

  • @theSpiritOfSpace

it's from Cutty Ranks-- 'A Who Seh Me Dun

  • Yea!!

  • I was jus goin thru my records this morn and I found this, I hadn't played it in years! Rocked it many times ova!

Now a few bits of info to help clarify for the people; this wasn't a 'Flex and the Ghetto Celebs' trak, just Flex. It's a b-side of 'Sad & Blue', a Slick Rick sampling hip hop instro released on Wreak Records. This video version isn't the same as the version on the 12, Nine rips it even ruffer on the wax! And to top it off the vocal is the 5th trak on the b-side!

  • Totally re-discovered, lovin it!

  • this version is tight I never heard this one. Wasn't this around the time New york was trying to be hardcore and gritty to match the Gangsta Rap on the west coast?

Do or die's version is a more Mob Gothic sound with a grim over tone. I like both versions though.

  • yes this was around the time when the WEST coast was getting gangsta to match the gritty sound of the EAST coast.

  • Nine?

  • yea, born 9/19/1969. Therefore, 9.

  • Dope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its off a funk master flex cd

  • Can someone please tell me what Six million ways to die means?

  • I don't know but Redman says it in the How High remix

  • six millions ways to die means you can die 6 million ways. hit by a car some disease you can fall of a roof you can get attacked by a wild cougar. but only one will kill ya. so choose one.

  • Dam The Farakun line (Tragedy Im thinking Nas but not to sure now )was as popular as the sample used in the beat(Brand Nubian,Tragedy Supercat)
