because these protesters were peaceful. By batting their baton on their shield it shows a sign of tension. They were inciting things. They knew about the Black Bloc in advance, and knew what was happening. I'd like to see what will happen if another repeat of the London riots will happen in Toronto.

How did they provoke? First - the shield beating is a very old technique to show readiness for agression, they are carrying loaded and readied (safeties are off by requirement in these events by requirement) shotguns loaded with gas and rubber shot. To approach an un-armed crowd with a heavily armed force IS a direct threat. That's like saying "Just because Bill went into the gas station with a shotgun, doesn't mean it was a threat! There was no reason to call the police! He's licensed to own!"

I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't see the police provoking anyone. All I saw was police doing their jobs very professionally. You think this is bad, you're welcome to leave Canada. But I like living where I am kept safe by the police, and don't have to fear them.
