Never bought the magazine, but I remember this commercial, and the trippy music which popped into my head, so I went looking for it on YouTube, and here it is. Awesome sauce.
I used to read this magazine in the late 70s. It was unique, I'll say that much.. I loved Tony Escott's cartoon in the April 79 issue and still have that page pasted to the front of my computer to this day. (Two women who've been shopping, with bags walking on a street corner seemingly oblivious to the creatures walking across their path.. the woman says "It's one goddamned thing after another".. I LOLed so bad at the diner I was sitting in when I first read it, I became a spectacle!
What the heck happened to this magazine? It was the coolest, Bring back Omni Magazine. Right now would be the perfect time for it with all the scientific breakthroughs that have happened within the past decade. Bring back Omni Magazine, and bring back Milli Vanilli.
@DevSodDribble I remember that article! it was creepy but beautiful. they interviewed the artist/designer of the alien creature in that issue. downright scary even.
I still have a few copies stored away in boxes that I never got rid of. This along with Heavy Metal and Discover were the best magazines in the world to me back then.

It was a brilliant magazine and as a kid I had a stack of them that I wish I still had today.
And like others I wish it came back as we need to give our kids their imaginations back.

I first received this magazine in 1981. How I wish I would have saved them all. (((sigh)))

This particular version of the commercial is narrated by OMNI founder Bob Guccione (he of Penthouse as well).

My Dad subscribed to this for many years; There was an issue with pictures from 'Alien' that I was afraid to even look at. ;) (I was 5.)

This was a magnificent mag I've been re-collecting and reading intensely. Amazing how a good number of prophecies ended up being somewhat accurate.

I also read that magazine, when I was a prepubescent child. The last time I read Omni Magazine, was in high school, when I was 17 years old.
