FINALLY I found this song. My sister played this when I was little. I loved the voices in it. so FF to today. I thought it was Nu Shooz. It's been in my head for like five years thank god.
@666666bert A lot of live albums have tracks edited or added post-production. Probably just fixed the bass track in the studio... I'm sure Tina was playing during the show.
Man, I used to have such a crush on Tina Weymouth (from the Talking Heads) in High School... I go into the Starbucks across the street from where I work, in Kingston, Ontario (downtown) and the girl who serves me, Kate, looks just like her. Man, if she wasn't half my age... I would've asked that girl out right then and there.
then i watched stop making sense , i doubted wtf is this song because is totally out of talking heads records, now i now this is tom tom club and i am glad this isnt talking heads or david byrne song because tom tom club sounds silly to me
@brendn1 When stop making sense was filmed the Close ups and Long shots were filmed on different nights, This was so when long shots were shown you wouldn't see all the cameras on/around the stage.
But since the Audio is taken from one night and the video taken from a few (I think it's possibly 3?) it means that sometimes it doesn't always sync up entirely. Also means there's some odd bits, like where a beach ball is thrown onto stage and then in the next shot has disappeared instantly
to all the comments about the bass being overdubbed --> what you need to remember is that this is a concert "film", they take shots from different parts of the song so as to have a better visual flow, if you look at the other musicians you'll notice what they are doing doesn't sync up at times either, doesn't mean it isn't live it just means that the editor thought this or that shot looked better for that moment and substituted it.
Being a professional bass player myself, Tina Weymouth was and still is one of my most favorite bass players of all times. A couple more of my favorite bass players are Dana Williams from country group Diamond Rio and Victor Wooten from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
I'm 21 years old, this came out before I was even a thought in my parents loins....but I never was really attracted to Tina, but now for some odd reason I find her and that bass incredibly sexy. Like WOW...Wow.
Is this from a European DVD? I can't believe they couldn't release a concert film at the proper speed. Ugh. I feel sorry for all of you people in the 50 Hz countries.
Much as I love TH and theTTC; I gotta admit those back up singers MADE this show. They were so fun. What a blast it was to see in person, one of my best youthful memories. : D
STOP MAKING SENSE was fun to watch back in the day it first came out and it is still fun to watch now. Bravo David Byrne/Jerry Harrison/Chris Frantz/Tina Weymouth!!!
@gilmourwaters It's a different mix to the one I know, too; I think this is actually from the 1999 (re-)release of the film.
It's not "bad" (although Chris DOES rap too much, and the synths are too low, and while it's nice to hear Tina's voice clearly in the lead, Lynn Mabry and Edna Holt's vocals... and Alex Weir's guitar... oh, okay, it's a terrible mix.
