  • This movie was made 40 years ago and was incredibly insightful for it's time. Not sure why you bothered to upload this video and leave comments that have long been understood about the film and this era?

  • This video is brilliant! I watched the movie for the first time and I had trouble sleeping. This analysis makes a lot of sense. Please, keep up the good work.

  • Very interesting. Whenever I think of the original Stepford Wives I always wonder what Joanna could have done differently to avoid her tragic fate. Perhaps after visiting the psychiatrist, she could have layed low. Hired someone to get her kids out of the town and then the whole evil conspiracy could have been exposed and stopped.

  • @awellwisher It's Joanna really and truly being a good wife--that is, looking to protect her children when she senses danger--that brings her downfall. In an evolutionary sense, that is what would define a good wife--looking to protect the next generation. Had she been as self-seeking as the men in this movie and only cared about herself, she would have lived.

  • fascinating analysis

  • awesome stuff. Keep it up.

  • I really enjoyed this, it would be nice if these movies from the 70's and 80's could have more commentary from the writers and producers to say what they were thinking or inspiration since these issues were at their height during the time. The new remake of Stepford Wives seems very lacking and almost makes the heroine out to be over domineering.

  • bummer about the sound, looks v interesting

  • sometimes I look around today and think everyone needs to be "Stepfordized" Men, women children. Just from a neatness and presentable point of view.
