@bionicyclone Because the US Marines aren't as professional and well trained. The PMC's are former US Rangers, Irish Ranger,s UK Royal Marines, Special Forces, SEAL's, SAS, SBS etc etc. They are elite where as the US Marines are just maritime infantry.
@gearbox011 I understand. However, the USG has more than enough capabilities to train those Marines and bring them up to par with the aforementioned elites that you stated. They might as well create a specialized division within the corps for Marines who get sent on these types of missions for the USG. I'm just saying its an easy fix that's all. Government positions should remain under government personnel, the way its always been. Just a thought of an opinion. Cheers!
Actually if you do some research you will see that triple canopy has a very clean record, especially when compared to blackwater. They are the only company over there that I'm aware of that has not been facing charges of drug or human trafficing.
love the wording they use to describe these "mercenaries" fag ass liberal commies, i really hope war never comes home, cuz these fruitcakes would be the first to die.
hahaha this guy is the Alex Jones of Blackwater, it's ALL propaganda !!! this guy at 3:46 is pure propaganda.....weird....and i'm in support of having blackwater, just not for killing any innocent civilians
yeah what these anti war bullshitists (or liberals as they're known in the US) never recognized in the Blackwater trial is that there were Taliban soldiers using human shields in the Nisoor Square incident
@44magLover: Well...the Taliban isn't Iraq, that's Afghanistan. But your overall point isn't lost on me... the media ALSO overlook the fact that all parties were found NOT responsible and the federal judge actually scolded the prosecurtion for pursuing the case against the BW contractors in the first place...... where did THAT show up in the media?
@44magLover dude, i'm a lib but i don't have major issues w/ war. iraq was bullshit but other wars are justified. Private Armies are cool by me. Don't generalize, makes you look dumb.
he makes PMC's sound cool, when my time in the USAF is up i'm applying for jobs in PMC's, and Jeremy Scahill, i dont know what his problem is, but last time i checked, killing evil people is good. so he and all his other liberal ass kissing hippies can stfu and go live in afghanistan and complain about freedom there
@dustylefou this makes it totally justifiable then. what kind of rationality is that? maybe it's getting exposure because of their actions, and that people are starting to seriously question the accountability of war profiteers to human rights and war crimes.
@dustylefou this makes it totally justifiable then. what kind of rationality is that? maybe it's getting exposure because of their actions, and that people are starting to seriously question the accountability of war profiteers to human rights and war crimes. The occupation of Iraq is a breeding ground for capitalistic business venture through violent, often (as reported) atrocious and MONSTROUS methods. There isn't any accountability for their actions, except profit. That's some evil shit.
@thejuryissleepless There is accountability - they are either fired or their organization has a black eye. What "monstrous" methods are you referring to, aside from what the headlines of newspapers say? Usually misconduct has to do with lack of positive identification or error, just like our own military does from time to time.
US citizen employees of TC and BW are not Mercenaries. You have to be hired by a foreign government and/or working solely for money. Considering all guys who transport diplomats around for these companies are US citizens and have a patriotism and love for the US (hence not working just for money), the employees cannot be considered "Mercenaries". Damn you people are stupid.
I love how these smug douches use words like mercenaries and monstrous. At least pretend to be journalists. Just because you think you're right doesn't make it okay. It makes you the Sean Hannity of the left.
@Deej1188 that's bullshit and you know it. There is no comparing the work Amy Goodman has done for this country and the world to Sean Hannity. Just because she associates mercenaries (which they are - explain how they are not) with their acts as monstrous (which they have been - if you need proof you need to stop watching fox and do research) I wish I could be surprised by your idiocy.
@thejuryissleepless I didn't compare the "work" of Amy Goodman to any of the Fox News A-holes. I just don't like how she so obviously wears her opinions on her sleeve. I don't refute that PMCs are essentially mercenaries but the term comes with negative connotations that they are pushing. Also, she didn't say the Mercs' acts were monstrous. She said the new embassy was monstrous. (You need to watch the video and not accuse people of being Fox News nuthuggers the second you don't like an opinion.
@thejuryissleepless Guess you don't want to mentioned the beheading and torture perpetrated by insurgents or the number of diplomats safely transported to meetings throughout Iraq thanks to TC and BW. Want proof? Stop watching MSNBC and come over here to see what I mean. Its easy to couch coach while you're sitting at home you stupid smug liberal fuck. Leave the real work to the real men and STFU. Now go crawl back in to your moms basement and post on twitter some more.
@rltw04 What's the point in mentioning this? Sure - Insurgents are violent. PMCs have missions - some of which involve keeping people safe. This is irrelevant and I have trouble seeing your argument's substance. The occupation of Iraq is a breeding ground for capitalistic business venture through violent, often (as reported) atrocious and MONSTROUS methods. There isn't any accountability for their actions, except profit.
@rltw04 Some of the CRIMES PMCs commit are so fucked up, and without accountability - there can never be justice for the Iraqis, there will always be a need for more profits. PMCs are the SS of the Corporatocracy.
@asianfrenzy666 oh wow good point, so right. Yeup I agree with you. Yea that's so true. thanks for reminding me. awesome dude, good job being extra-a lot-more-smarter than those liberal idiots. *few*
The special forces operatives that he is talking about one of there names is Lee Van Arsdell i think thats his name. Sounds familliar? He was a Delta Force operator who was involved in the 1993 incident in Somalia ( Battle of Mogadishu) aka Black Hawk Down.
@thejuryissleepless Also, unlike Blackwater or Dyncorp, Triple Canopy does not hire non-US citizens for operations in U.S. Warzones. So take that "hired to serve in a foreign army" and cram it up your ass. Triple Canopy hires almost exclusively out of U.S. Special Forces. I don't believe someone who has done multiple deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan WITH the U.S. Military can be motivated merely by monetary gain to go back again.
You must be either english or canadian. Didnt england send a bunch of mercs into africa? Killed a shitload of rebels didnt they. I mean your talking about communism and really irrelavent stuff here. Keep focused dude. What is it your talking shit about? I cannot keep up with all of the jibberish coming from you. Communism, mercs, iraq, oil, afghan, saddam, blackwater, triple canopy? Which one? I mean shit with all of the knowledge you have on world events you should be a diplomat.
I'm neither English nor Canadian. And yes the english did do that. That communist talk was a different argument from the one you decided to butt in on. Within the two conversations I believe I did refer to all of those, yes. If you can't keep up go back to one of your American dumbass forums! And yes, I should be a diplomat, you're right. I must go now for the world needs me!
ya England did send a bunch of mercs into Africa and killed a shit load of rebels and did good for the area down there. then the U.N and a bunch of Liberals found out and O no. you cant' use Mercs to kill evil.
Ciarran. You really need to ease the hate brother. Internet trash talking is for children. Go to a sports blog or mma blog. You preach peace and solidarity but nothing but vile hate spews from your mouth. Everyone knows invading iraq wasnt smart or that george bush was umm not real smart. Your preaching to the choir. Or shall i say spewing hate. Get a life eurotrash
Hey man, I've a week off, it's raining and I love smacktalk! did you not see what these people were writing. Eurotrash? Who's spewing hate now, you're just like me! Douche!
God bless our troops, country and the psd's working their asses off to keep Americans safe, our #1 priority, deaths of ragheads etc...? That's war people
...the US has destroyed thousands of Iraqi lives...really?
Now don't take my comment as fact but I'm pretty darn sure, that the Kurds in Northern Iraq are happy that Saddam was ousted so he can't spread nerve gas on them anymore, the amount of schools, mosques, and other buildings has increased dramatically, and many more roads have been constructed and maintained. How many jobs have been created over there? Now I'm no Glenn Beck but let's have a little common sense here.
1 million have died in Iraq since the invasion, another million as a result of US led sanctions in the 90's. After his surrender in the 1st gulf war the US assisted Saddam in crushing a Kurdish uprising. The US and Germany sold him those chemicals in the first place! 'A little common sense'?, did you ever hear the old saying 'a little information is a dangerous thing'? Read a fuckin book!
1 million have died, yes, but who's been doing most of the killing? Our men and women in uniform who are brave enough to defend this country so we can say what we want? No, the insurgents are the ones doing the killing. Are most of these insurgents Iraqi? Again, no, they are coming from Iran and our good friends Syria and Saudia Arabia.
I agree that we should have killed Saddam back in the Gulf War but we didnt. So we worked on securing a sovereign democratic nation which then turned...
...into a totalitarion regime soon after we left. We are now trying to do it right and to establish the country before turning it over. We havent done everything right, but we are doing good and the Iraqi's are prospering as a nation.
Prospering as a nation? Are you kiddin me? Haven't done everything right? More people have died in that country as a result of US policy than Saddam was ever responsible for! Trying to do it right? Are you really that naive. It's simple, there's a shit load of oil their and your country wants to secure it. That's it man, all this freedom shit is empty rhetoric to get you dumbasses waving your flags and watching your fuckin American Idol!
Insurgents? get fucked, you created that mess! I'm tellin you that if 100,000 dumbasses were sent into your country to tell you what's good for you you'd be fighting too. Absolutely no planning. It's what happened in Vietnam, you go in all guns blazing never considering whether you will actually be able to establish a government afterwards. We'll think about that later, doi!
@ciarannugentful Where exactly are you from? You seem to hate America but I strongly urge you to look at all that America has done for the world. I would not say that we are doing a very good job anymore but I believe America can get back up and be the nation it once was.
I knew you didn't know what a communist was, what's that dogmeat1950, does that mean your 60 and don't even know what a communist is? Tut tut, they should have aptitute tests for people like you before you can vote. You're too fucking stupid to be allowed an opinion!
The truth which no one wants to admit is that we need these private contractors. Who else is going to protect are U.S. diplomats. The Iraqi army? HA. They would do more harm than good. The secret service? Not a chance. It would take years to train them to work in Iraq. Delta Force or SEAL team 6? They have more important work to do. We need groups like Blackwater and Triple Canopy, without them, people like Paul Bremer (former U.S. embassador) would be dead.
"Merc Work" has been around since the sword. The first German settlers in the U.S. were actually mercs for the British .They're job was to put down any NY uprisings, they seemed to like it here and stayed. Look it up!
weather these soldiers are from the U.S. or contracted from the U.S. THE GENEVA CONVETION DOES NOT APPLY.... this asshole should have read and book instead of writing one... YOU CANT WIN A WAR WITH POLITICS AND LIBERAL BIAS... grow some balls America we are fighting a war we should not be worried about hurting feelings
wow i dont know where to begin... most of the facts that this guy has said about the history of blackwater and triple conopy are pretty close... but his political views and opinions are a joke... who what when where and why we use merc forces in war zones have nothing to do with what he is talking about... all of the complaints and the lawsuites going against blackwater and triple canopy are a joke... key fact THE GENEVA CONVENTION DOES NOT APPLY
Also I know that Blackwater and other PMC's have had a couple screw ups with civilians, but they do a lot of good in Iraq with holding cities, protecting VIP's, and other stuff... well at least they did until they were kicked out
Just a quick valid question.... how do you know that Jeremy Scahill isn't making crap up for his book and to support his ideas? Seriously, think about, a book writer trying to make his way with no access to finanicial files, etc etc. Where does he get his info, even in his book he doesn't cite his information. I really think this guy is blowing smoke up peoples asses.
To all of you who are saying these guys are monsters, baby killers, and trigger happy war junkies needed to do some research and maybe go do a convoy run with them and we'll see what you say when bullets are flying all around and a white sedan is barreling toward your vehicle with five 105mm artillery shells in the back rigged to blow...
@MasterGuns666 Seriously, I couldn't agree more. Yes, Blackwater and other PMC's have had mistakes in killing civilians, but it happens, especially when the Muslims are cowards who hide behind women and children.
Vipprotctor as well as arvydas0069 You two are totally right in the reguards of TP.. There is no fuck'n secret about that. Damn there sure is a lot of people out there who need to do a little more research.....Especially! Before, they open up there fuck'n mouths...GO SEALS! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
Deej188 as an ex-OIC for The Navy SEALS.. I can view your comments in a valid fashion. But,, We dont belong in the the Middle East Period! There adults as far as fighting over land, oil, religion, ect. For many, many years. Let them take care of there own problems.. ..They have been fighting a hell of a lot over thoose issues before our country evovled,, Let us focus on our own motherland...commrads of all branches men/ women need to come home. To the USA..
That guy is an idiot!. TC is not a mercenary company!. And the Israel contract was never a secret to anyone. Moron, get back in your lane. You are clueless and ignorant!.
Triple Canopy is a great company to work for....good people....good management. Scahill is a muckraker and no one will ever give a shit what he says. The only way you can lose a contract is by fucking it up yourself in Iraq or AF....but there will always be contracts for security...the Army needs part time workers without benefits. It would cost much a FUCKLOAD more money to raise a full time Dept of State agent force dedicated to Diplomatic Security
Wow Its funny how most of the people who comment on Scahill's videos are against him. You KNOW someone is making a difference when people care so much about any words that come out of his mouth and any opinion he has, whether against him or for him this guy is making a difference.
jeremy scahill is a whiny turd. Slave labor? Honestly, come on. Grow up. Pay them back for what? They were in the crossfire, and you know what too bad.
Just cuz Blackwater employs a few trigger happy scrubs, hundreds of PMCs for Triple Canopy lose their jobs. Triple Canopy employs almost exclusively former special operations guys. They did their job right. The military is stretched thin. Who is supposed to protect high priority targets abroad if not these guys?
Get real OrangeLady. Remember when the trade centers were attacked back in 93 and we did nothing for 8 years? Iraq was a strategic place to try and get stability in the middle east. Afghanistan is where Al Qaeda and the Taliban are so that's why we are there. Even Obama knows the reality of that war.
And who cares if Triple Canopy employs non-US fighters? Defense contractors hire workers from other countries for IT jobs. How is this any different?
yeah, because peaceful diplomacy works really well in the middle east. Iraq and Iran's skirmish during the 80s? We could have just told them to just love each other right? When Saddam gassed the Kurds...wag of the finger. Are we supposed to just sit there while they try to build nuclear weapons for a war with Iran? We have interests in the area and yes, its over oil. But we should just make people sign peace treaties that last 4 hours, right?
Lol, wow! There's no messing with you is there, Deej1188? You've got all the facts! Ain't nobody gonna touch you when it comes to international politics, right?
haha, I certainly don't have all the facts. But it may seem like that to people who have zero facts...only ideals. Keep up the sarcasm. Its a effective thing to hide behind.
You're also incorrect in the assumption that I am a conservative.
You mean like the sarcasm in your previous comment? Yeah, you can hide behind that if you have no other choice, just like desperate Fox News hosts when they don't like what their guests are saying. The very same Fox News that's popular with conservatives and independents alike.
So you didnt catch any of the evidence points for my arguemnt in that comment? Unlike even those poor excuses for journalists on Fox News, you havent even said anything except blanket statements like diplomacy, they are mercenaries, or dont start wars.
I know there werent WMDs in Iraq. However, Saddams declaration, pursuit, and willingness to use them on Iran is something we cant have. Are we supposed to just wait till its too late? Is it a just war? No. Necessary? Eventually.
So you're arrogant, and you also can't read? My mercenary comment was not directed at you. No where have I stated "Do not start wars". The Middle East is a vast area, and getting stability in the region will not be achieved over night, however I believe that with the continual use of diplomacy and a few other means, it can be done. America is a universally hated country, for many reasons, but particularly so by Middle Eastern and other Muslim countries. Diplomacy isn't just "wagging the finger"
... "telling people to love each other" that's exactly the kind of comment a Fox News host would make. (that's the only reason I mentioned Fox News). The negotiations need to be done largely, if not exclusively, by other Muslim countries. No good will come from America's involvement, military or otherwise.
If you know that there aren't, and never were any WMDs in Iraq, why do you condone the war? That's the lie that took the US, the UK, and the coalition to war. We were told that Saddam was..
... a threat to US! Not to Iran, not even to his own people, but US all the way around the other side of the world. That lie is what lead some people to support the war (even though there was increadible opposition to it, which the poloiticians, of course, ignored). There is no eveidence that I am aware of (maybe you know otherwise) that Saddam was trying to build nuclear weapons to take out Iran. But even if that were the case, why is that a justification for our involvement there? Surely ...
you like the idea of Iran being nuked, you're planning on going in there next anyway!
It is not America's responsibility to police the world. The Middle East is none of America's business. If the natianal security is the genuine motive, then why have you not invaded North Korea?
However if it's about helping people (when it became apparent that there never were any WMDs and Saddam was never a threat to the rest of the world, it became the lie of "Oh, we're here to liberate the Iraqi people", even though many Iraqis will tell you the situation is worse now than it ever was with Saddam) then why isn't the US helping Tibet? The Congo? Sri Lanka? Sudan? Palestine??? So many cases in the past where the US has done next to nothing. Yes, it is ok to sit back and watch ...
@OrangeLady3000 It has as much as The Holocaust and 5+ million Jews being murdered in Europe. It's the right thing to do, you liberals are all about freedom and happiness and being kind to everyone with no guns and yet you protest that America should have done more about the Holocaust.... etc etc. Here we have Muslims killing muslims and we "shouldn't care" I say we should help people live better lives even if it costs us our lives.
We arent into policing the world anymore. Were much greedier than that. When there isnt a vested interest in the area, we dont help. Interests and national security are now balled into one. But as for North Korea, we have 37,000 troops sitting on the South Korean border waiting for something to happen. Pull a stint in the military and youre likely to spend a year stationed in Japan.
A large scale war between two nations that hate us in a region where losing our oil supply would cripple our infrastructure.I wish it wasnt our business but its the ugly truth. BTW, I still dont see the problem with former military guys working for PMCs and protecting diplomats. People protecting high risk targets shouldnt get paid more?
I agree Colin Powell lied when he gave that speech about mobile WMD sites. I have come to understand the idea of strategic placement of troops in the region. US intelligence agencies realized the need to intervene before the situation became too volatile but the Bush administration decided to package it with 9/11 and throw in imminent risks of WMDs. How is there no evidence of Saddams pursuit of WMDs? Watch the video on 60 minutes of Saddam's interrogation. Ill send you the link.
@Deej1188 Dude I am not lieing, we did find weapons and missiles in Iraq look it up, they found missiles stowed away and some that were being assembled... of course we don't know if they meant to use them, but they had them none the less.
@Splintermetalgear Right, of course there were WMDs in Iraq. They have been fighting Iran for years. The only reason I agreed with Orangelady about Powell lying because while there are weapons in Iraq, I'm not sure how reliable the pictures of the mobile nuke trucks were.
There's no doubt that Saddam was in pursuit of greater weapons to keep Iran at bay. But they never found those mobile labs so I have to agree with orangelady no matter how liberal agenda minded she is.
In theory, everyone is on your side OrangeLady. If we had no dependence on Middle Eastern oil, we could sit back and watch tribal wars for fun. Unfortunately, were there for the oil and were on their holy land. Name some countries that can peacefully mediate issues between Iraq and Iran, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Israel. The rest love the revenue from our oil purchases while the people hate us.
Hey Jeremy, I have a really good idea. How about you can go hang out in the southwest portion of the Doura district, or how about just on the Karada peninsula? Just spend a day or two with the great people of Baghdad buddy. I bet they would be sooo nice to you. Cuz you wouldn't need a PSD, no not you. Your such a good person and all.
Tthe enemy will not follow the Geneva Convention code, nor do they play by the rules. They will use any tactic to their disposal to defeat the enemy (that's us, the US) and win their war and their own people live in fear. Military, high paid Mercs or non paid Militia-whats the difference-People with special skills should capitalize at the expense of our gov't and fight a war and get highly paid. They trained them & when the enlistment is up, they go into the private sector and that's wrong? Uh!?
Our people live in Fear. Our people. You have more of a chance getting struck by lightning than getting killed by a "terrorist." Americans have shot many more Afghanis than Afghanis Americans.
if this reporter feels so strongly about any administration trying to put the best people in the fight in Iraq to assist our troops he needs to run for office or just shut up. ( Hippie)
i find it funny how everyone was agaisnt bush and blackwater. now obama is doing it. so was bush really that bad of a president? obama is doing the same thing
I'd rather have Tripe Canopy protect me over there the US Army. Sorry but a whole platoon of them got lost in the Desert and Blackwater had to fly overhead and show them wich way to go. rofl. This Scahill guy needs to realise Mercenaries have been around since like Greece and shit. It isnt gonna stop just because some woman gets her panties in a bunch when civilians pull weapons on em and get gunned down. Dropped guns disappear very quickly in large crowds.
most of security contractors are prior military n most were special forces. also it takes one dumbass captain to get lose while the whole unit knows where there are
This video, and others like it, make me sick. Jeremy Scahill is a worthless individual who is making his money off of the news story behind the private security industry... as triple canopy and XE grow, so does Scahills revenue. Look up the history for using private citizens in warzones, and you will find that this is basically how our country has been running since its inception. George Washington used private citizens for war, how is it any differant?
I'm all about alternative media and all that but these people are just as bad as fox news... the "mercenary firm" triple canopy? and oh my! they were started in Chi town? And obama is from there? Shut the fuck up scahill you idiot...
When your looking at Triple Canopy, feel lucky, because your looking at a lot of 1st SFOD-D operators. According to multiple books on Triple Canopy, they primarily recruit out of the Unit.
I dont understand the Hippie, liberal pot head mentality. Hippies should be deported-they're detrimental to the well being of the country. All they do is smoke pot and try to sound intelligent and bash brave men who are fighting for our freedom and protecting our people. Piss off you gdamn hippies
I like to think if myself as a fair/balanced person but when I bought this, and I will say it, douchebag's book a few years ago I read about 2 chapters, put it down and have not picked it up since. It was the most left leaning, anti-military, right wing conspiracy nut theory piece of trash I have ever purchased.
On the objective side...with the U.S. military stretched so thin worldwide...who else is going to protect the embassies and diplomats? Well meaning do-gooders like Mr. Cahill?
".who else is going to protect the embassies and diplomats?" The diplomatic protection service or The army.
The army is accountable to military law and oversight, they are our troops. A private mercenary force can not protect diplomats unless it does so illegally. the Geneva convention specifically bans mercs from combat in war zones. also mercs do what their master pays them, who says Saudi won't pay Chilean mercs to turn guns on civilians or our forces?
Yeah, this fag Scahill has been trying to start shit everywhere he goes! My question is, why hasn't Scahill "disappeared misteriously" yet LOL. Now that would be front page news!! All these hippies need to go back to the 60's and smoke some more dope!!! And hump eachother and praying for peace man and happiness!! Oh yeah while the hippies are doing that, somebody has to defend the country and protect other countries!! Just my opinion and some facts for ya!!
without private military companies who knows of all the terrible things that could happen terrorists dont deal with red tape witch is why we need these companies in order to cut through that red tape unfortunatly this power gets abused non stop as unfortunate as that is the consequnces of not having companies like triple canopy would be far worse
Sweet! This video was very informative. Thanks for posting. I 'WAS' going to send my pilot resume to Blackwater... but after watching this I won't waste my time... I'll just send it to TC. Thanks, you saved me $0.33 for a stamp!
Deadly paramilitary forces...as opposed to non deadly?

@dustylefou this makes it totally justifiable then. what kind of rationality is that? maybe it's getting exposure because of their actions, and that people are starting to seriously question the accountability of war profiteers to human rights and war crimes. The occupation of Iraq is a breeding ground for capitalistic business venture through violent, often (as reported) atrocious and MONSTROUS methods. There isn't any accountability for their actions, except profit. That's some evil shit.
thejuryissleepless 1 year ago
@thejuryissleepless There is accountability - they are either fired or their organization has a black eye. What "monstrous" methods are you referring to, aside from what the headlines of newspapers say? Usually misconduct has to do with lack of positive identification or error, just like our own military does from time to time.
I'm an OIF vet BTW, 2007.
dustylefou 1 year ago
US citizen employees of TC and BW are not Mercenaries. You have to be hired by a foreign government and/or working solely for money. Considering all guys who transport diplomats around for these companies are US citizens and have a patriotism and love for the US (hence not working just for money), the employees cannot be considered "Mercenaries". Damn you people are stupid.

I love how these smug douches use words like mercenaries and monstrous. At least pretend to be journalists. Just because you think you're right doesn't make it okay. It makes you the Sean Hannity of the left.
Deej1188 1 year ago
@Deej1188 that's bullshit and you know it. There is no comparing the work Amy Goodman has done for this country and the world to Sean Hannity. Just because she associates mercenaries (which they are - explain how they are not) with their acts as monstrous (which they have been - if you need proof you need to stop watching fox and do research) I wish I could be surprised by your idiocy.
thejuryissleepless 1 year ago
@thejuryissleepless I didn't compare the "work" of Amy Goodman to any of the Fox News A-holes. I just don't like how she so obviously wears her opinions on her sleeve. I don't refute that PMCs are essentially mercenaries but the term comes with negative connotations that they are pushing. Also, she didn't say the Mercs' acts were monstrous. She said the new embassy was monstrous. (You need to watch the video and not accuse people of being Fox News nuthuggers the second you don't like an opinion.
Deej1188 1 year ago
@thejuryissleepless Guess you don't want to mentioned the beheading and torture perpetrated by insurgents or the number of diplomats safely transported to meetings throughout Iraq thanks to TC and BW. Want proof? Stop watching MSNBC and come over here to see what I mean. Its easy to couch coach while you're sitting at home you stupid smug liberal fuck. Leave the real work to the real men and STFU. Now go crawl back in to your moms basement and post on twitter some more.
rltw04 1 year ago
@rltw04 What's the point in mentioning this? Sure - Insurgents are violent. PMCs have missions - some of which involve keeping people safe. This is irrelevant and I have trouble seeing your argument's substance. The occupation of Iraq is a breeding ground for capitalistic business venture through violent, often (as reported) atrocious and MONSTROUS methods. There isn't any accountability for their actions, except profit.
thejuryissleepless 1 year ago
@rltw04 Some of the CRIMES PMCs commit are so fucked up, and without accountability - there can never be justice for the Iraqis, there will always be a need for more profits. PMCs are the SS of the Corporatocracy.

(–noun) a professional soldier hired to serve in a foreign army.
(--Adj) influenced by greed or desire for gain
Ie. You're the idiot.
thejuryissleepless 1 year ago
@thejuryissleepless Also, unlike Blackwater or Dyncorp, Triple Canopy does not hire non-US citizens for operations in U.S. Warzones. So take that "hired to serve in a foreign army" and cram it up your ass. Triple Canopy hires almost exclusively out of U.S. Special Forces. I don't believe someone who has done multiple deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan WITH the U.S. Military can be motivated merely by monetary gain to go back again.

Read a fuckin book!
ciarannugentful 2 years ago
1 million have died, yes, but who's been doing most of the killing? Our men and women in uniform who are brave enough to defend this country so we can say what we want? No, the insurgents are the ones doing the killing. Are most of these insurgents Iraqi? Again, no, they are coming from Iran and our good friends Syria and Saudia Arabia.
I agree that we should have killed Saddam back in the Gulf War but we didnt. So we worked on securing a sovereign democratic nation which then turned...
Blackbarry18 2 years ago

The truth which no one wants to admit is that we need these private contractors. Who else is going to protect are U.S. diplomats. The Iraqi army? HA. They would do more harm than good. The secret service? Not a chance. It would take years to train them to work in Iraq. Delta Force or SEAL team 6? They have more important work to do. We need groups like Blackwater and Triple Canopy, without them, people like Paul Bremer (former U.S. embassador) would be dead.

Deej1188 2 years ago
Deej1188
Stability in the Middle East!? You don't get stability in a region by starting a war there!

How do you get stability in the middle east, OrangeLady? Do share.
Deej1188 2 years ago
Diplomacy, and leaving America the hell out of the picture.
OrangeLady3000 2 years ago
yeah, because peaceful diplomacy works really well in the middle east.
Deej1188 2 years ago

You mean like the sarcasm in your previous comment? Yeah, you can hide behind that if you have no other choice, just like desperate Fox News hosts when they don't like what their guests are saying. The very same Fox News that's popular with conservatives and independents alike.

OrangeLady3000 2 years ago
... of facts is the location of the famous WMDs that took us to war in the first place.
OrangeLady3000 2 years ago
So you didnt catch any of the evidence points for my arguemnt in that comment? Unlike even those poor excuses for journalists on Fox News, you havent even said anything except blanket statements like diplomacy, they are mercenaries, or dont start wars.
I know there werent WMDs in Iraq. However, Saddams declaration, pursuit, and willingness to use them on Iran is something we cant have. Are we supposed to just wait till its too late? Is it a just war? No. Necessary? Eventually.
Deej1188 2 years ago
So you're arrogant, and you also can't read? My mercenary comment was not directed at you. No where have I stated "Do not start wars". The Middle East is a vast area, and getting stability in the region will not be achieved over night, however I believe that with the continual use of diplomacy and a few other means, it can be done. America is a universally hated country, for many reasons, but particularly so by Middle Eastern and other Muslim countries. Diplomacy isn't just "wagging the finger"
OrangeLady3000 2 years ago
OrangeLady3000 2 years ago
... a threat to US! Surely ...
OrangeLady3000 2 years ago
you like the idea of Iran being nuked, you're planning on going in there next anyway!
It is not America's responsibility to police the world. The Middle East is none of America's business. If the natianal security is the genuine motive, then why have you not invaded North Korea?
OrangeLady3000 2 years ago
However if it's about helping people (when it became apparent that there never were any WMDs and Saddam was never a threat to the rest of the world, it became the lie of "Oh, we're here to liberate the Iraqi people", even though many Iraqis will tell you the situation is worse now than it ever was with Saddam) then why isn't the US helping Tibet? The Congo? Sri Lanka? Sudan? Palestine??? So many cases in the past where the US has done next to nothing. Yes, it is ok to sit back and watch ...

Splintermetalgear 2 years ago
We arent into policing the world anymore. Were much greedier than that. When there isnt a vested interest in the area, we dont help. Interests and national security are now balled into one. But as for North Korea, we have 37,000 troops sitting on the South Korean border waiting for something to happen. Pull a stint in the military and youre likely to spend a year stationed in Japan.
Deej1188 2 years ago
A large scale war between two nations that hate us in a region where losing our oil supply would cripple our infrastructure.I wish it wasnt our business but its the ugly truth. BTW, I still dont see the problem with former military guys working for PMCs and protecting diplomats. People protecting high risk targets shouldnt get paid more?
Deej1188 2 years ago
I agree Colin Powell lied when he gave that speech about mobile WMD sites. I have come to understand the idea of strategic placement of troops in the region. US intelligence agencies realized the need to intervene before the situation became too volatile but the Bush administration decided to package it with 9/11 and throw in imminent risks of WMDs. How is there no evidence of Saddams pursuit of WMDs? Watch the video on 60 minutes of Saddam's interrogation. Ill send you the link.
Deej1188 2 years ago
@Deej1188 Dude I am not lieing, we did find weapons and missiles in Iraq look it up, they found missiles stowed away and some that were being assembled... of course we don't know if they meant to use them, but they had them none the less.
Splintermetalgear 2 years ago
@Splintermetalgear Right, of course there were WMDs in Iraq. They have been fighting Iran for years. The only reason I agreed with Orangelady about Powell lying because while there are weapons in Iraq, I'm not sure how reliable the pictures of the mobile nuke trucks were.
There's no doubt that Saddam was in pursuit of greater weapons to keep Iran at bay. But they never found those mobile labs so I have to agree with orangelady no matter how liberal agenda minded she is.

It is dodgy to use mercs and wrong.

You still make me sick. If you are so in love with every country but the U.S. take your hippi ass some where else.

Do people actually believe what this guy says? Considering that he has yet to grasp the definition of the term 'mercenary'?

without private military companies who knows of all the terrible things that could happen terrorists dont deal with red tape witch is why we need these companies in order to cut through that red tape unfortunatly this power gets abused non stop as unfortunate as that is the consequnces of not having companies like triple canopy would be far worse

Those numbers seem inflated. I've never heard an estimate that high. Where do you get your figures?
