@DOOMMASTER4567 What system do you use? I can't get sound using XP and DosBox is too slow, VDMSound has the best speed/sound BUT has been out of development for years and the game crashes every often.

How do you get this to work? I did have it running in DOsbox but now it doesnt load. The initial gremlin and S3 screens load then Dosbox changes to 3000 cycles and stays at a black screen. When I install it, it copies the contents of the cd to the install directory. I then run 'Whip' and it fails to loa das above. please help

Dosbox 0.72. The Whiplas.mdf is 556mb. I mounted then extracted everything in the cd to a folder called Whip in C:\Games. I have C:\games mounted in dosbox. I start dosbox and enter 'cd whip' > 'whip' It loads but fails after the S3 screen. whiplash loads the movie, then S3 screen then sits at a black screen. Running the install works but when installing dosbox generates this message 'SHELL:Redirect output to NUL. After install the movie work then goes to the S3 screen

Some racing games could learn a thing or two from this old game.

I've been trying to get this game working on my newer PCs randomly through out the years since my old PC couldn't run it at full speed but it seems to always have issues with sound or saves on later operating systems.

holy crap I remember this game from my childhood, it was so much fun! I remember there was a hilarious cheat that would let you flip over your opponents by pressing the space bar, so whenever I played multiplayer against my brother I would use it hahaha. Best game ever!

All i remember about this game was that it was nearly impossible to go through the airborne sections without crashing. And that on some of the maps you could go faster than the game could render the track. So you'd fly out of the map. Still, one of the better racing games from the 90's

In the 90s in Moscow's black market all-in-one computer game cd's were popular. In 1996 I got one for $2 that came with this as only 3d racing game. I HATED it, the controls, physics & sound effects were terrible. However the graphics were immense, even compared to arcade machines of the same year. Very colorful, smooth textures and impressive resolution (640x480 was available!). When games became more memory heavy (like Fifa 98) it was the end for those magical cd's. Nice try Gremlin!

Great game to play against/with a friend.

Sometimes we'd work together to kill as many opponents as possible. One would chase other cars and constantly hit them, and the other would block the pit entrance with his car. Computer opponents couldnt heal so eventually got destroyed <3 In the end we were the only two left in the race, hilarious.

This computer game single-handedly made racing my favorite gendre on the consoles. Crazy how you had to hit the ramps at the correct speed to land on your tires. I wish they would make a game like this for the current consoles, with sim like qualities, but crazy jumps and ramps that you have to time perfectly to land them. Track-Mania has never done it for me. Bring back an updated WHIPLASH!!

still love this game! Purchased it when it came out, a few days ago i found the disc and of course played it. Still a fantastic game, it's a shame that there has never been a game like that, cause this game rocks.

When it came out i always played it with my sister, we had a lot of fun killing each other ;). I still can hear her screaming around when she was falling down of a looping or one of the corkscrews...so many great moments to remember :)

lol same to me, i played it with my sister too.... problem is... she's 30 years old and i'm 27... lol.. but we still had fun trying to smash all of the other cars, most of the times the only ones remaining were me and her in the track, finishing it making frontals for extra fatalities XD this was untill 1-2 years ago, i had windows 98 just to play it, now i can't get it to work properly with sound effects and music on windows xp, i also tried dosbox and sh1t like that but they don't work good...

I got this game (3Dfx Voodoo enhanced version) with the Voodoo card I bought in 1996. I loved this game! Unfortunately I seem to have lost that CD albeit I should have it somewhere... Does anyone know if the 3Dfx version also worked on Voodoo 2 cards? 3Dfx-version had smooth and fast graphics! (at least on my 90MHz Pentium I had back then...).

One of my all time favorite games :-) I clocked up over 10,000 fatalities playing this.

This game had so many bonus cars/tracks/modes it was awesome, loved it. I remember it having something like 24 bonus tracks alone.

Can't forget the support for my Creative 3DBlaster VLB! VGA mode that actually ran slower than software mode. Memories

If you play it on real hardware, you need an Adlib or SoundBlaster compatible sound card. Otherwise you won't hear anything. So it's better to play it on an emulator like DOSBox to get full features :)

I still play Fatal Racing on an old AMD 1.3 MHz with Win98SE, 2 Megs graphic card and an SBLive with SB16 emulation (Music from CD) setted up for this game. Works perfectly

What's with the low framerate?

The game has a way better physics engine than nfs and screamer, even being unrealistic. I think they could've done a better job with the art though, like adding backgrounds and surrounding landscape, like in nfs. The graphics really suck when you see the track from above, like from the top of a loop or in a skydive.

Back in the days, I didn't believe that this graphics engine needed so much power to work smooth. It was unplayable at my old 486 and other games have done a much better job at this point. But I liked this demo anyway :)
