mi chameleon always hisses at me even if i give him water, give him lunch, turn on his light even when he sees me..... the firt time that i EVER saw hime guess what.. HE HISSED AT ME!!
@himanshoobakshi any insect really. why not crickets? availability? i used to go in the yard and feed mine flies n moths...anything i could find. but i also did crickets and meal worms.
@Infidelamsterdam If I remember correctly, they change to this hue of vivid green when they're anxious or scared, so this chameleon might be pissed as well, but is more likely scared to death.
Don't feel sorry, studies done show that captive chameleons are actualy way more happy than wild ones. In the wild chameleons are stressed no less than 75% of their lives. In captivity its more around 10%.. discovery channel had a special on it you should check it out its good stuff
I saw the discovery channel study as well. If the owner knows what their doing and cares for it well, the chameleon will have one of the happiest lives of its kind.
My Panther Chameleons have a larger, cleaner, safer environment then they would EVER have in Madagascar. They have their own trees. Predator free. They are kept in absolutely perfect conditions, and live twice as long as they would in the wild. Furthermore, by breeding them here, working with only the healthiest, strongest animals with the best characteristics of their species, I insure that they will be around for generations to come, and I help stop wild collection.
Generalizing & hating all humans is childish and shows that you really just hate your situation, or over simplify things. Not all people who keep animals and work with them do harm. I'd never sell one of my Chameleons to anyone under 25. I give ongoing support for the life of the animal, and make them learn their care BEFORE they get their animal. If that doesn't stop them from making a rash, disposable pet choice, the $500 price does. I also work hard to breed captive corals to save the reefs.
@meminchii for some reason i think they probably do better in a home with humans cause then they are less likely to get attacked by predators and they have a constant food supply *unless the owner dosent feed it D:
@meminchii Did you know. Keeping most of the animals actually SAVES the ones in the wild? I guess you didn't, zoos have been working hard in order to preserve animal's habitat so they wouldn't go extinct. Animals in zoo are already too tamed to go out in the wild, they'd die from starvation. Most of the enclosed animals are off springs of that particular species rescued YEARS ago. So instead of blaming the humans, why not thank them? -.-" I don't know what the heck you're thinking.
@meminchii You best be trollin', captive animals are very happy in human homes (if raised correctly with love). If crocodiles and gators can be domesticated then humans are doing something right.
@meminchii But they are safe, happy, well fed and have a longer life, also lots of animals would be extinct if it wasn't for captivity, ps I hate you!
Hey I'm also an indian, but studying in Singapore. Where did ya find him? In the forest? B'coz I've haerd that Chameleons are rare in India... and that there's only a single species in India...
I'm going to India for a visit soon. To Kottayam, Kerala. But will go to Bangalaore first.
no, i saw it hanging on to a small isolated sapling near a compound wall. i don't stay near a forest though there are a few patches on the city outskirts. i am not a tracker of any sort. just come across them. so i cannot really advice you on finding anything.
yet to see a snake in wild.. will definitely take a video if i see one.
when you come here, visit some wildlife sanctuaries or national parks. there are many in kerala and near b'lore. just plan your trip well and all the best.
2 northern ring neck snakes. (I actually found both under my welcome mat and I thought thy were dried up worms until I noticed it's golden rind around it's neck)
1 Northern Water Snake.
I dont actually search for them, I accidentally stumble across them.
That is a female Veiled Cham. and poking at it like that will cause stress for it and lead to a shorter lifespan. . .just b/c it is all bright green and tail curled doesn't mean its ok while on your finger/body.
ur retarded u better not say that is saudi arabia, they'll come chop your head off! Thats what happened to this guy who made a movie and it made fun of muslims or something, and then a muslim guy came over and chopped the movie guy's head off while he was riding his bike!!!!! Its true..
hey, there really liked this video, i just want to know that where in delhi you can have this, i am planning to buy one, hope to hear from you soon, god bless.............
hehe.. interesting to hear ur tamil.. and even more interesting to see a tamil fellow hold a chameleon.. non-rural folks mostly dislike these kinda animals.. so ur pet changes color or what? i didn't see any significant change in this video.. and indian chameleon aah? i have only seen an oonai masqueraded as a chameleon.. i have never come across a cham in india
there are loads here in hyderabad, mostly hanging out on trees in the outskirts. it's called pachondhi in tamil, clearly different from onan. yes people get confused with the english terms; they call onan chameleon not realising that the english equivalent is garden lizard.
you got a small chameleon cage in children's park in guindy, chennai. i have not spotted one in the wild in TN though.
i have seen people say that it's poisonous, evil or other such nonsense. even witnessed a person kill one
I was thinking this might be a panther or jackson chameleon, I am leaning more towards a pather chameleon because of the beautiful colors. What a beauty!
because, apparently, chameleons don't like it. they feel threatened. just like humans... the only parts on offer for contact with strangers are the palms.
Nice color! like bright neon green =D Doubt it likes to be held like that with people staring at it and loud background noises and stuff..especially it being a baby and all
oh how i wish i was some shade of green instead of one of those monotonous human-brown shades. sometimes i look at dogs with awe. they have natural designer skins!
your not suposd to stroke them they take that as a threat stupid and you can handle its how you gain trust with them as babys but they go on your hand when you offer you never pick them up
