  • ahahahahahahahahaahhaahahahahahahahaha this melissa cross woman and her PRODUCT are complete jokes that only newbies who don't know any better would seek advice from....

  • @MouthOfTheUnknown your an idiot. you should check her client list. newb.

  • Don't you mean Dani will teach you, effin slut -_-

  • MALDITA!!!

  • She's such a fucking tool who makes money from teaching people how to scream even though screaming is a natural thing :L

  • @MrPaulwaite1 it's about doing it 60 nights in a row on the road. which you do not do.

  • Comment removed

  • Her screams are very good. Your voice do the entonation of the scream.

  • liiikeeeee !!

  • WHEN???????????

  • Was she inhaling? HAHAHA

  • @RioUchiha noooope, chuck testa

  • lol shes not trying to say that if you dont do things her way youre wrong, shes simply trying to teach a different way for people that have a different way to get the same sound. i use her techniques, full force techniques, and whisper scream type shit. soo.... yea.... if you dont like her look someone else up that will help you. :D

  • yeah she can scream, but they sound really basic.. like there's no extra flavor lol idk SHIT MY PIZZA'S BURNING!

  • she sucks, i bet she is just a regular vocal coach who just found the chance of making some money of this " screaming trend" that is going on the last 5 years or so.

  • @ihaveallseeingeyes screaming trend ? what are you even talking about

  • @Mariooo57 What exactly you want to know?

  • @ihaveallseeingeyes i don't really see how it's a trend

  • @Mariooo57 Well how suddenly you see tons of trend kids doing it, im talking about the huge ammount of vocal covers youtube consist of.I even see girls who are trying to do it. They all are trying to fit in a trend thats called "being br00tal " as they refear it. Everyone has a band now, everyone claims to have self knowledge about music and so on.Check SeniorBivins talking shit about U.K claiming that the whole country doesnt know anything about music when the UK is responsible for Metal. Haha

  • @ihaveallseeingeyes i finally get it, that annoys me as well !

  • @ihaveallseeingeyes haha go shove a stick up your ass and die hater

  • PALAZO EN LA NUCA PARA EL PUTO DE DANI FILTH!

QUE GROSA QUE ES ESTA MINA!

  • sounds like an inhale haha

  • Burton C. Bell should call her. :P

  • Haahahahahahah-i think she's still a virgin-learn how to treat like a woman bitch!hahahahahahah-disgusting funny!

  • She´s a vocal coach, you smartasses go do some research before saying a bunch of shit. She used to help unknown artists like Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), Angela Gossow... you know? =P

  • Well, I'm officially interested in this and want to watch it, although I fear I'll go in expecting the most retardedly weak techniques ever (that sad excuse for a technique that she just used).

No matter, I'm sure I can learn some great warmups or something :/

  • @MindOfPagan so if you're so good what's your band? I'd love to hear it?

  • @yuppiekiller I never claimed to be good, only that fry-screaming is garbage. My band is working on recordings and won't be done for a while, I fear. Not that it matters anyways, even if I wasn't good it doesn't change that I acknowledge a weak technique for what it is.

  • @MindOfPagan

i wouldnt say its a weak technique. it depends what your looking for. shes also helped death/false chord screamers like old school corey taylor improve thier screams and recover from surgery etc. Fry isnt weak if the gritty higher sound is what ur loooking for. i find death is more brutal for its lows, hence why i do death anf false and not fry.

  • @upcomingscreamer666 Well, people can be good at being bad at things, you know what I mean? I find the fry to be completely anti-climactic and there's no sense in using it since there are always more suitable ways to achieve the sound. People only do it because their favorite band does it (perpetual loop).

I also say that it's weak because its the polar opposite of impact unless you slightly or full on cup your mic, and double your tracks/pro tools the shit out of your studio tracks.

  • @upcomingscreamer666 *correction* there are always more suitable ways to achieve a complimentary sound. I'm all about doing the right technique for the right riff. I have never heard a fry sound good over anything, basically.

  • well, she's not as good as I expected..

  • dani filth will tell this bitch about annunciating. You cant mess with Dani prime.

  • cradle of filth... yum

  • perfect example of why this bitch shouldnt be teaching anyone how to scream. not if you want to do really heavy vocals anyways. maybe if you want to be in a generic metal band.

  • @xsquallxedgex A friend and I are in a black metal band which also has death growls, pig screams and the odd inward scream in the backing vocals and her actual techniques can be applied to creating these noises as well. I would however like to see her explain how to get the stupidly high-pitched dani filth screams from his early career. Then again he can't do them anymore so obviously he's damaged his voice by screaming wrong.

  • @sonicwingnut i dont know man, i just dont really trust her style because im in a band that is like thy art is murder, the red shore, whitechapel and that sort if genre where the vocals are just heavy as fuck, she doesnt really do heavy vocals, she sounds like she's just screeching

  • She's doing the false chord thingy, I personally think it's better to use it with normal singing and not as a screaming style, Her theory is good but I'm not so sure about practical wise XD

  • @xsquallxedgex bout a month ago I had to stand in for a band's guitarist/vocalist for a couple of gigs, quite a lot of death style growls in there as well as some silly-long screams, I had a go at her techniques and they really helped stamina. You do have to kinda translate what she says into your specific style at times though. If you search "hob headless" on here n skip to about 1:25 in the song that's the death style vocals I mean.

  • @xsquallxedgex Listen to my band worignition she taught me how to scream i dont think we sound generic

  • Melissa cross is a fucking joke she thinks that she is a lot better then what she really is. If you want to sound like the fags from silverstein and thursday buy her dvd.

  • very very very hot grandma . =)

  • Dani Filth from Cradle of Filth perhaps? lol

  • which dani is she talking about?

  • @natalygataly Dani Filth, If you listen carefully, when the music fades out, you can hear Filth's Distinct Vocals(his shrieks)

  • Falsetto screams are sooo much better. They're not only louder but I like to way they sound better than frys

  • ok... shes not there to be a good screamer. that isn't her cause. her cause is to HELP people scream without haveing terrible consequences. as a vocal teacher she knows appropriate breathing exercises and methods to prevent this.

  • holy shit that was hilarious as fucking hell!!

but shes still bad ass so suck a chode \m/

  • those are alright but it doesnt compare to the deep growls from death metal

  • she may not sound amazing but her technique is flawless

  • its a god!

  • she does frys which sound alright....but they aren't I declare war stuff. I do like high vocal frys tho.

  • ROFL thats my name mann :D

  • Nice inhale

  • @TylerxGoPens Not inhale. Fry! But fry is equally just as lame.

  • @deathmetalterrorist Just curious.. What makes fry lame?

  • @hobojoe102 Well, it's all a matter of aesthetic preference. Personally, I prefer false chord screaming. Compared to false chord, fry is not as powerful, it's bland sounding (everyone sounds the same), and sounds like the singer is vomiting violently. lol If there was no false chord, I would love the fry, but in comparison, it just doesn't amount to it. The only good things that fry has is that it's safer and you can scream longer (both endurance wise and holding out a long scream).

  • @hobojoe102 An example of this was when I went to a Devildriver concert. Almost all the bands before Devildriver used fry and Devildriver used false chord. YOU CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE. I could barely hear the other singers before devildriver. But when Dez started screaming, HE TORE THE FUCKING ROOF OFF THE PLACE.

  • @deathmetalterrorist Don't want to start an argument or anything but I've been doing power fry's for a bit now and its pretty loud, maybe they just had the mic too low or something. And yeah it is pretty easy to tell the difference between the two. Also false chords are definitely more powerful, I have to give you that haha

  • @hobojoe102 So what's the difference between power frys and regular frys?

  • @deathmetalterrorist Oh, its louder and you can hear the persons voice through it. Only example I can really think of right now would be Mike Hranica from TDWP

  • @hobojoe102

and Parkway Drive. Winston's frys are so powerful they're somewhat hard to distinguish on Horizons and Deep Blue. But I'm 100% sure there are fry screams and not only death growls. The difference is really delicate:

His frys come with a higher-pitched yell (what you hear before the actual screams) and you can pick up a slightly tighter, compressed sound in his voice. That is the result of lifting the larynx; less space to resonate, less projection, closed throat. Lowering opens it.

  • @deathmetalterrorist but sounds like inhale

  • Fuck, that style of screaming sounds sooo stupid. So wimpy sounding. And not just cause she's doing it. Anyone, male or female doing those screams. It all sounds like garbage.

  • @bloodpool Yeah but you also sound stupid when you cant talk after a show. She has very good tips. Since i started using my false chords i can talk the same without sound sick. And i dont waste a crapload of air. She was doing it all the way. I watched to DVD and she shows you how to project your voice farther and better rather trying to scream louder.

  • @Wtfmitu I sound just fine after a show. My point is, those screams sound really stupid. I'd rather scream like a savage beast than a dying vacuum cleaner.

  • @bloodpool I'm gonna guess that you are young

  • @Belindashort Im 30

  • Melissa Cross would be the best grandma ever... one who could scream and listens to metal and can teach me how to fry louder :P

  • CACA

  • You look silly...

  • my name's daniel............that's sooooo cool

  • hahaha inhale screams are fucking shit

  • Fry screams are gay.

  • @HeyItsBouchard

You don't know shit about screaming, do you?

  • @HeyItsBouchard Homophobes are gay. :l

  • @trollin2death Just because someone says "gay" to mean bad doesnt mean theyre homphonbes. I have 3 gay friends and I use gay as if it means bad. Honstly who cares what words you use. Words don't reflect what we actually believe anyway, so as long as you understand what the person means by what they say, whats the point in focusing on a certain word with negative connotations?

  • What does she says after " Dani, it's time to ..." ? :S but she has an incredible voice *_*

  • @CarachAngren74 excersisseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees? i think

  • I don't understand why she's so terrible at screaming but she can help people so much...

  • @ZenrathGoesRawr For example if you have create something like soccer you still could be terrible a horrible player. Doesn't mean that if you create something good you would be the better at this.

  • i'm more into doing hard vocals like growls and grunts....... tried this, didn't work for me.

  • The more I watch of this chick the more hokey it seems. Tonally it doesn't sound good. I used what I learned from real vocal lessons and can apply it to screams, growls and so on.

  • not bad :)

  • Inward scream? Lol

  • Dani filth takes from ron anderson.

  • @toadsnmarshmellows

Well most good vocalists will use a lot of different vocal instructors over the course of their career to get a wide repetoire of techniques and approaches. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he'd worked with Ron Anderson though. I've heard he's one of the best. David Draiman from Disturbed has used him in the past.

Pity he doesn't have a DVD or a book. It'd probably be a fuck load better than Melissa Cross (Malicious Cross as she's known in the business. Not for good reasons!)

  • hello satan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That wasn't even a scream; what the heck?

  • @niceshades3800 Its called fry :P

  • I dont think she's that great either, but she knows how to do it without ruining your voice. And she taught great vocalists like Phil from ATR, Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy. And Im pretty sure Corey Taylor, and Howard Jones have learned from her, from What I hear in interviews.

  • @wenser13 shes not a screamer, she knows the basics of each type of screams, but from there she works by using her nusical knowledge

  • Look at Dennis Lee from Alesana, his screams r amazing and he didnt go to her

  • everyone crys that she isnt good at screaming, if you had a brain you would realize she said " How to do it without HURTING your throat"

Not "Look how good i can scream, Look how fuucking metal i am with my huge internet ballz and my corky insults"

    GET BRAINS Lol -l-

Half you pratz arent shiit considering she is SELLING that shit Lmao

  • 1 how loud it is can be done by the sound man

2 if she dosent know what shes on about why are there all thes bands going to her for help ?

  • She is fucking awful at screaming. There is no volume on it and it sounds like she's only using her throat :S

  • @redbreast3

    1. She isn´t using an Mic

    2. Thats only an Fry, so ofcourse there is no volume..

  • @Megabroly I've never known anything about these "types" of screaming. Everyone screams in their own "type". And as for what is called "Fry screaming", if THAT is a demonstration of a fry scream, then she's embarassing herself representing such a poorly sounding scream. A microphone isn't necessary to scream, hense the name "scream".

  • @redbreast3 After working on this for a little while, I can easily see what they mean by Fry, It's called thatt because it's not done with the vocal chords at all, It's done by "Forging" a sound from your lower body that isn't pitched, You just apply it on top of a normal note, That I think is the "fry" You cook it on top of the real note.. But the sound itself isn't caused by the vocal chords..

  • @Kenshinffx Yeah, I can see what they're doing, but it's not "proper" screaming. Don't get me wrong, I would be the first person to criticise against a certain criteria of what "screaming" is, because it's all different. But I just think that when a scream is literally screamed, then it's a scream haha Definitively it's correct, PLUS it sounds muchhhhh better when it sounds the throat of the screamer is hurting i.e. Chris Roetter from Emarosa. So raw

  • wow . i liked melissa cross but now.. dani filth is one of my all time favorite singers and front men

  • Dumb cunts commenting on this video... why is everyone so uptight?

  • dude, if you think this shit is inhale, your dumb. its fry, I know because i inhale and fry, so get ur head straight.

  • Its interesting how she teaches so meny diffrent singers but not one of em dose her "scream"

  • @JessyDevilVendetta She doesnt want to change the way they scream, just the way they breathe and that kind of stuff. Randy Blythe and that guy from Every time I die changed a lot after being with her, by the way

  • @JessyDevilVendetta because a real scream is your scream, just like a real singer has his or her own voice. Think about it.

  • inhale. definitly.

  • She really isnt that good

  • Has she noticed that he doesn't need the lessons, he practically wrote the frigging text book of alternative vocals. If he didn't just qualify for an amazing middle class modern poet he also has that amazing ability under his belt!

  • she's not that good at screaming. She inhales so hard, she needs to learn exhale.

  • @FuckYou0liSyk3s Lol! She IS exhaling.

  • @Goma2 She inhales hella hard. I even scream better. Calling her the zen of screaming, shit. I exhale and I'M ONLY 12!!!

  • @FuckYou0liSyk3s Trust me, she is not inhaling. Listen to some inhaling videos and you will notice the difference. That distorsion comes from the false chords not from the air running backward in the throath.

  • Melissa its time for u to take ur pills

  • Yeah, I honestly don't think she's that good at screaming.

  • Good thing she's not the front woman for a band then, and just aids EVERY vocalist out there so they sound good for y'all...the fans!

  • @thestudioNJ

Yeah, cause if she was the front for a band, it'd probably sound kinda bad. She may know how to do it, but she can't really do it.

  • "Every" vocalist? Hardly. Not even close.

  • @thestudioNJ So you're saying she aided Mikael Åkerfeldt, Shagrath, and Ihsahn?

  • @thestudioNJ I agree with the first half of your statement...

  • @JayMann620 Technically shes excellent. She just doesnt develop her voice because she has no need too.

  • @JayMann620 it sounds not so good because there is no music in the background ^^ then every scream fucks really up...put some sound in the back and it sound good ^^

  • @18malte18

No, just because there's no music doesn't mean that any scream will sound like shit. That's retarded. She doesn't sound good cause she can't do it.

  • @JayMann620 Shes not a singer.. its like saying why cant my car mechanic beat a formula one driver in a race

  • @favsncrap hahah, dumbass.

  • @ninjaguitar97 If im correct in saying that your comment was aimed at me then, Fik Dich du bist kinder fikker mit ein klein wurst.

  • @JayMann620 your an idiot

  • @billybong38

    Why exactly?

  • @JayMann620 Do you expect like extreme grownling or something? listen, Melissa Cross is like what, 53? go ask someones grandmother to scream like Melissa does, and then tell me she can't scream. What she can STILL do, is great, and shes not here to scream louder than anyone, just help whoever is interested, in doing it right.

  • @Tripnotik25

I didn't come here to expect to listen to her do some intense growling. No, I came here assuming I'd hear some great sounding Screams which I honestly didn't think I saw here with her. I expect something better sounding considering she ''aids EVERY vocalist out there''.

And her age should have nothing to do with this. She's paid to teach people to do what she does, so I shouldn't lower my standards for her. Now if she was some random old woman doing this, it'd be different.

  • @JayMann620 from top to bottom, that post made no sense. Age doesn't matter in screamin, so a 53 year old should be fine, i wonder why there aren't alot of those in bands, but they'd do great. And you were expecting her to scream insanely good cuz, well shes always around them screamers eh? so she should master it by now. thats like saying to your history teacher that she aint that impressive cuz shes teaches about 500 year old crap but was never there.

  • @Tripnotik25

You: "Melissa Cross is like what, 53? go ask someones grandmother to scream like Melissa does"

Me: ". . . her age should have nothing to do with this"

    Learn to read jackass.

  • @JayMann620 i thought i didnt have to say it. But it does have alot to do with it.

    Jackass.

  • @Tripnotik25

@JayMann620 from top to bottom, that post made no sense. Age doesn't matter in screamin, so a 53 year old should be fine,

I don't even need to debunk anything you say as you switch every other post you moron. But go ahead, keep talking and make any further point you try to make sound just as moronic and retarded as you do now.

  • @JayMann620

    Im nodding. Yes mam.

    Whatever the fucktard says.

  • @JayMann620 Yeah she's not a front woman, she's a trainer.

  • @JayMann620 Can you do any better?

  • This is amazingly scary. My name is Dani.

  • imagine how she sounded younger... beast mode

  • she's really good at vocal fry, but i've never seen her do false chord or death. i'm more of a false chord/death guy, but she is a great vocal coach

  • cos if u watch her dvd's she says that false chord and death can shread ur voice so she teaches u exercises to help prevent that but she isnt gunna do false or death herself cos it'll take away her awesome singin voice

  • it can shred your voice, but when screaming, you want the endurance to play for an hour set. with plenty of sleep after the show you should be fine, of course it depends on your vocal style, if you have a harsher singing voice, the by all means go death, but you shouldn't really attempt any screaming if you want to pursue classical music

  • bingo:)

  • vocal fry is the stuff if you can do it right :)

  • those who can do, do

    those who cnt teach

    but she is aweseome

cos of her i can scream friggin awesomee

  • she uses the vocal fry technique, a very annoying technique if you ask me, but w.e works i guess

  • These exercises are good, if you want to sound like a pig dying. If you want to get the voice of like, let's say, Jorn Lane, wrong way to go.

  • @yanava oops, Jorn Lande!

  • I own ZoS 1 and 2. I don't remember this being on either of those? Does she have a new dvd out or something?

  • Fry is gay. Melissa Cross is lesbian.

  • Lol tell that to any good metal vocalist.

  • I can tell it to any death metal and black metal vocalist.

Ok,I could admitt that there are vocalists who actually are very good at fry, in a way it sometimes pleases my ears, but Melissa can't. She even sucks at her own technique. I own both ZoS 1 & 2.

  • True, but the vast majority of NFL coaches couldn't catch a pass if their life depended on it. it's a matter of having the knowledge and being able to pass it on, which she does very well. Randy from Lamb of God rocks fry vocals like no other, and he learned his shit from Melissa. I think her voice is pretty annoying myself, but like I said, she's not a performer, she's the one teaching vocalists how to do what they do, so I can't really knock her vocals any more than i can knock a coach's hands

  • Comment removed

  • Definitely true, and I agree with the fact that she shouldn't've focused solely on fry, while barely touching on the other vocal styles, and as for the duel dvd thing, I found it pretty aggravating that the first really didn't talk about screaming, it was all juts breathing exercises and shit.

  • inhale scream is the only thing i cant do i can fry and death scream i guess i am good with that i just need to go louder

  • CoF has gotten a shitload better live, particularly on Dani's end. If you listen to their older stuff he sounds nothing like the recordings, but now they've got it down to an artform if you look at any of their recent live videos

  • whats the cof song playing

  • the long run sounded nice... but when she spoke through it... i unno. maybe shes being too modest? haha

  • All I'll say it, watch Tommy Vext. If Cross is the queen of scream then Tommy is lord emperor or something cause hes a fucking beast. And yeah he uses fry.

  • her dvd zen of screaming really helps me a lot! im quite happy now i can growl/scream louder and doing it right, without hurting myself haha. thanks melissa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
