Personally I like everything from western classical music to old country and folk. This band, Daughters and (r.i.p.) Arab on radar, to name a small few, have completely changed the paradigm. To answer your question, music (to me) is sonic emotion. As the world is currently freaking out, so too is the music. It may not be pleasant but it's relevant to now. Oh yeah, these fucking guys blow everyone else. No body else plays with this mastery.

Yes, the Locust isn't for everyone. It's harsh and abrasive. It is also tightly organized and incredibly complex. Plus, I have a hardon for drummers...and Gabe is the man.

Your right, the organization and complexity in their music is very evident. The drummer does a sick job aswell. Don't mind the dull minded music listeners. They somehow have this idea that all music must be reduced to only what is cute and easy to create. Many people have been fooled to cherish action/thriller/horror films, graphic discriptive literature (Edgar Allen Poe), contact sports, Not to mention amusement parks. But again, when it comes to music so many are disconnected and naive.
