The last one dowsn't actually work anymore on the iPhone 3G anymore. Apple took it away in the 3.0 update which is stupid in my oppinion. But the little hold down the power button then hold the home button trick I didn't know about. But I really wish Apple left the old variation in the firmware

To force quit apps on OS 3.0 on ALL iPhones you have to hold down the power button and then home button. Its not different on the 3G or the 2G

No with the 3G you did not need to only on the 3GS because 3GS has voice control if you hold down home button 1st u will activate voice control before you can hit the power button. This information has been verified by CNET.

Question - if you "don't use instant messaging a lot" are you actually saving battery life by turning push notifications for AIM off?

Doesn't it just use battery when you're actually using the application? If you're not using the app. having the option for push for AIM isn't draining battery life because of AIM right?

No, push means the application is running in the background and the OS is checking the application for updates. That uses battery life so best to turn off push if you dont use that feature a lot.

Not sure if you are not signed in but I know most people just stay signed in all the time that way when they open the app you are ready to go. If you are signed out and have push notifications on that is another question. Not sure. If anyone knows the answer to this please let me know.

Right, that's what I'd love to know to. You said in the video that you leave push off for AIM to save battery but also that u don't use AIM much. So my thought was if you're aren't using it much it should be effecting battery, even with push set to on because it should only be using battery when you're logged in. Hopefully someone out there knows.
