n mongoloids i say, "FUCK YOU". No seats in the Dail. "0" seats. So again i say on behalf of the Irish people for whom the only policy legacy you have left is false AGW carbon tax, Fuck You. And i won't be apologising for my unparliamentary language. If you disagree, then let me explain carbon tax to you.
Tata, India's largest steel producer, closed it's UK plant costing 1600 jobs. They sent the plant to India where there are no carbon emission laws saving 20% on labour costs. They then sold their carbon offsets into the carbon futures market making massive profit at the expense of the 1600 workers. Then a big Co2 producing company buys the same offsets putting the extra cost onto the consumer & in doing so calls themselves carbon neutral at the expense of the same 1600 UK workers. WAKE UP.
I don't care who runs the country now, they've messed it up so bad in the next 10 years the next generation will have left the country. Ireland is gonna be abandoned because of all those guys who destroyed ireland
@IrishNFLfan Well, they didn't wait until the last possible minute, the last possible minute would have been May 2012 , still almost a year and a half away. The Greens said after the IMF fiasco that they'd stay in government only to pass the budget/finance bill. That's what they did. Also may be worth pointing out that, for example, Niall Ó Brolcháin in Galway West won't be getting a pension because the Greens brought in minimum terms of service as a requirement for getting a political pension.
@IrishNFLfan As for taking on the banking losses, even Sinn Féin voted in favour of the bank guarantee. Everyone was working off false information. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but at the time it appeared to be the only option.
The reason this country is in this mess is because the main parties and their candidates' election campaigns were funded by banks, developers, big corporations, lobbyists, and vested interests. So it should be no surprise that govt decisions benefited those people.
@IrishNFLfan The Government that destroyed the country was the FF-PD government between 1997 and 2007, who based the country's tax system on the housing boom; plus local FF- and FG-controlled councils around the country who rezoned land for unnecessary housing developments, often with the aid of brown envelopes from the developers. If the Greens' recently passed Planning Act had been brought in ten years ago, there would have been no housing boom and no banking crisis.
Greens kept FF in place to tidy up their mess instead of letting the opposition parties tidy it for them as usual. This they have actually tried to do, making the tough unpopular decisions to get Ireland’s public finances stable again, and have subsequently plummeted into the electoral abyss. If Greens pulled out in week 1, they’d be getting off scot-free now, and that just wouldn’t be right now, would it? As FF themselves say, Greens have decimated FF, and for that Greens should be given credit
Pathetic. I will be glad to see the back of these amateurs. They supported FF so they could extend their office terms and boost their pensions. May they rot in hell for that.
@satonbog The Monty Python sketch is "What HAVE the romans ever done for us..." so "what HAVE the greens ever done for us..." is right in this context.
All of these things are either things they didn't do or reasons to not vote for them
What they should be remembered for is extending the life of an obviously corrupt government in order to retain the last scrap of power. We should have had an election last year.
That and the carbon tax which is something that obviously hurts poor people more than wealthy people. And does absolutely no good to anyone at all.
Except for the not taking corporate donations thing. I respect that one.
@aedwardmann The opposite is the case. The Carbon levy is used to fund programmes such as the warmer homes scheme which has reduced the bills of the most vulnerable members of our society. It does in fact do quite an awful lot of good for many people. They have a video up on their own channel about this very issue. I can't link to it here but you should watch it. Given your misinformed opinion, I think you will find it surprising.
@aedwardmann Actually, all of these things are either things they did do or reasons to vote for them. I can't post links in this box, but if I could, it would be for their website where you will find plenty of evidence and references to support every thing in this video. There are also many more things there that I'm sure would convince you that you should give them a No.1 tomorrow. Even if you have a no-hoper, you should give them your No.1 so they have enough nationally to keep an office open
Great video, I really hope more people see this before they decide who to vote for. Greens No. 1 from me tomorrow! the guy in my area doesn't have a hope, but I know you need 2% of No. 1s nationally to be able to keep your office open, so I'll be giving him a No.1 for that, and my No. 2 to my real first preference with a chance: Two Birds, One STV ;)
