A couple of months ago I purchased Palm Pre Plus from AT&T.
I was told that the phone can be unlocked for international travel.
Now I am in Russia, AT&T gave me unlock codes. Neither worked. The representative is telling me that the unlock code will be available in several months.
There will be no refunds or exchanges. I can pretty much stick it.
If you want the worst service ever, sign with AT&T. If want normal service do anything else except AT&T.
Just some constructive criticism, cut out the filler ums and uhhs, makes the review go a lot smoother, also a little better lighting would help. Other than that good review, keep it up.
My Aunt has a DROID and yes, It is a very nice phone but the keyboard and sliding mechanismn isnt very good. On the Palm Pre though, the sliding mechanism is very nice and the Palm Pre is designed to resemble the shape of a rounded over rock. On the DROID however, Its just a rectangle. The OS of the DROID is very cool but a little confusing. The Palm OS however is much more user friendly and a lot more fun to use.
I am currently a DROID owner. I found an unlocked Pre Plus on eBay for around $70. I will probably be purchasing an LTE device when available next year. Is a Pre worth $70 for the next few months?
@RandomGuyWeird That's a great value for a Pre Plus. However you might want to wait because the Droid is said to be receiving an update to android 2.2 Froyo soon which is a very big improvement over android 2.1 by improving overall usability. But if you absolutely want Web OS than the Pre Plus is a great buy, especially at that price.

Plus, not all are free so you'll be paying a shit-load of money for unnecessary software. i hate the droid because of the touch... on some videos its laggy or doesnt work it all , the pre does not lag as near as much... also the pre is so creative because of the design and interface...
The compare is good; however, when you make a video next time.... Please review it before you post it. There is far TOO MUCH RED in your video, I could not get a good visual of the devices. I would redo this video. All this dark RED is hurting my eyes
the droid is better. bigger screen, higher res, glass so it wont scratch or crack anywhere as easily as pre's plastic. more apps, more customization from those apps in the market without having to patch/root, more power, bigger and better keyboard, thinner, and it doesnt look like its made for a girl :)
Why do we still point out that you cant do pinch to zoom on the droid with android 2.0 and we all know if you just add the dolphin browser as I see you did you get pinch to zoom and much more its nice to know that you cant do it on the browser that came with the phone but let them know that you can do it and do more if you just go to the android market
I personally think palm is a really good phone if you're one of the people who uses phone a lot because you can open like 10apps at once which is nice I love that but too bad palm has lots of bad app but the features are nice. I owned palm for about 2months and love it, its a good phone just need a lot more and better app.

If you watch the second video, I clearly explain the positives of owning the Droid over the Pre Plus. Also when this video was made, I owned the Droid for over a month and was fully familiar with it's features, while I had only used the Pre Plus for a few days and even now stand by my decision. In fact I had never owned a Palm device before the Pre Plus.
was the pandora on the droid opened recently before. also the pre has less wifi strength than the droid that may be the problem try loading an app like sms or something else. too late the vids alredy made, poorly good first try though!

At the end of this video the Droid had finished loading (yellow progress bar was gone) while the Pre Plus had not finished (the progress circle wasn't completely filled in). Figured I might as well point that out.
@dvs18 If you are trying to make a negative comment to get a negative response, you have succeeded. The accelerometer was not functioning correctly which happens with all phones including the iphone and pre. I was obviously holding the droid horizontally and it was clearly not working.
when you turn to horizontal while in the keyboard it takes a while, i would know my best friend has a droid which i take and use multiple times a day, okay. its cuz of the shitty ram

@l2fnl The iphone has the best and most advanced mobile web browser ever built. Thus since the Pre is very similar to mobile Safari and faster overall it is the winner in the aspect.
@BrantheTechman ummmm actually android's browser is based on webkit. The two biggest developers of webkit are google and apple. No other company has the same ability to use webkit as these two.
All are Webkit browsers... All Very similar... I really could care less that the IPhone has the spring effect on the scrolling... No Backgrounds and no multitasking keep me from caring about the IPhone!
@ProSwaGGa I use a Sony CX-100 which I recently bought. If you are interested you should be able to get it off amazon. Just search for the name and it should come up with the exact model.
I just ran the Pandora test on my Pre Plus, and it loaded a lot faster than yours did. Weird. I have to agree with a lot of what you said, the overall package of the Pre Plus is more appealing. The size makes the Pre Plus better for me. I love the Pre. Best phone I've ever owned, and that's coming from a former Iphone 3g customer last year.
The Droid has a few more features than the Pre so it wins in that area. The Pre has less features but does things more elegantly. Its Quantity vs Quality. I like both phones.
I thought so too, but I changed my mind after playing with it for a few days. Once you develop your muscle memory, I think the Pre is easier because your thumbs have to travel less distance. Also, the Pre has raised rubbery keys, but the Droid has very flat keys. I'm probably going to get the pre.
yeah the palm pres is more clicky adn more rounded but the keyboard is just horrible on the pre its so small only girls can type because of there long finger nails

Your too nervous when you use the phones and you adjust the camera too much, anyways both phones are great. I actually came from the pre and upgraded to the droid. Droid is more custumizable. Droid wins for me.
I believe the build quality is ultimately the same as the original Pre. So far the phone seems sturdy and well built, even somewhat heavy in a good way. If you are worried about it feeling cheap I don't think it is but that is my personal opinion.
Hey other than the keyboard would you say that the build quality of the pre plus is the same as the oringina pre? Also what is your honest opinion on the build quality of the original pre?
