  • 240p, we meet again

  • he suck

  • @helloremr LOL

  • what is the first song they play, whith the piano and cello? Thanks for your answer!

  • @black89white Symphony No. 7 Second Movement Allegro by Beethoven

  • When I first saw this video I thought it said yo mama lol

  • Realize, these two needed a professor because they were much younger at this time. Even young geniuses need masters to guide them no matter their skill. I know, I've played violin, I went to LaGuardia HS in Manhattan, and I've studied from one of the best violinists in the world, Jerry Beal, who taught Regina Carter and Anne Sophie Mutter. Even the very best need people to be critical of their methods and especially of their thought process regarding sound and written music.

  • Words cannot explain how I admire this amazing man, really .

  • the beethoven symphony 7 2nd movement

  • What Are the Pitches For Cello In The Beginning I Love Beethoven 7th's 2nd Mvt But I wonder What Are The Chords ?

  • What a brilliant thing:

When you are performing, mistakes don't matter. Everything is OK.

    Very cool.

  • 6:23 looked like the expressions after a wonderful climax/orgasm

  • don't worry be happy :D

  • In The Beginning When Bobby And Yo-Yo Are Practicng. What Piece is That And Whos The Composer

  • @temperheaded1 The compositor is Beethoven. The song is : Allegretto Symphony No.7 2nd mov

The version in the video with yo-yo ma and bobby is near impossible to find.

  • he is extremely precise with his fingers !

  • the language of music is international(:

  • YO-YO MA so sexy...

  • Heavenly... beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Thankyou for sharing this video. I love how they close their eyes and just 'speak' with each other in the moment. Effortless, like a flower opening.

  • yo yo ma is chinese.

  • @holkn Right, but the subtitles in the video are English and Japanese.

  • When you get to this level of playing instruments, you don't need to look at which note you're hitting on anymore...(yo-yo-ma closes his eye through whole performance).

  • At the beginning, it's Beethoven's 7th symphony, 2nd movement. It is one of the most beautiful movements in the classical repertoire.

  • WHAT SONG WAS THAT IN THE BEGINNING?

  • Comment removed

  • @aznguyiscool Beethoven Allegretto Symphony No.7 2nd mov

  • Jesus, Yo-Yo Ma is such a talented person, when he plays it is like he is tuned out of the real world for just a moment, and then its like everything you need to know is in what he is playing.

  • @liddleNDNduckiee Human!!!

I would greatly appreciate it .

  • Despite these crazy comments. This was a very passionate and moving performance. Thank you for sharing!

  • Yo, I studied under the late Leonard Bernstein amoung others so I can bark with the big dogs.

  • where can I find the first song? with yoyo.... cant seem to find it anywhere.

  • @Jag112 It's Beethoven's 7th symphony: 2nd movement.

  • amazing...

  • daaaaaaaamn!!! i wish i could play like that!!!

  • Wow dawg, you really know absolutely nothing about music at all, do you?

He's betraying his culture by playing a cello? Where did you get that from?

Find a hobby hon, you've obviously got waaaaay too much time on your hands.

  • @dawg00000

You know nothing about the history of music. I would try to explain things to do, but there's too much to say for a 500-word count. How about you do some research before you spew your biased, ignorant nonsense? "Straight, white, Christian make hegemony?" If that doesn't scream "I'm a biased ignorant fool," I don't know what does.

  • @xNameless, straight white christian males are clueless. You need a good history lesson in cultural appropriation and whiteness studies.

  • @dawg00000 Don't feed the troll. Probably some art student drop-out/activist moron, whom thinks spamming videos with malicious comments will strengthen his ego...Get a life tool.

  • @adam123554, Thank you for your kind comments.

My comments represent maistream academic thought. Read about critical race theory.

  • Yo Yo Ma so passionate when he plays., as though he is having an orgasm on stage. His music is orgasmic to me :)

  • omg thank you so much for the upload, jammin104! I was looking all over for this footage. I love this version of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 Movement 2 with vocal, piano, and cello...

  • Seiji Ozawa

  • Wow, who was the lucky duck who got to direct the Dvorjak anniversary thing?

  • Antonín Dvořák no Dvorjak :)

  • JAMMIN104: one single question ¿How can i find the whole documentary? ¡IT´S AMAZING! Thank you for putting this up. You should mention somewhere that Mcferrin and Yo Yo Ma did some albums together.

  • Way to fuck up a great music piece Bobby

  • Wow, i love Beethoven's 7th symphony (2nd mvt) Go Yo-Yo Ma!!! You're amazing!!!

  • Do they really need a music professor ?

  • @anisometropie What do you mean by that? Just curious...

  • @anisometropie - the role of the music professor is entirely different than that of the performer. I'm sure they value the perspective that she/he can bring to a session. They are amazing performers but they are hardly omnipotent.

  • @anisometropie You gotta think what a theory genius she must be to not only work with those musicians, but to be able to conduct and compose their ensemble

  • why are they talking? I want to hear the music.. ="(

  • Bethoveen! love this symphony

  • Just WOW!! Yo-yo and the others (Bobby) are just awesome.

  • What-A-JAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • am-A-zng

  • Whats was that piece in the begining with that lady?

  • Beethoven's 7th symphony, the allegretto movement...second I think

  • ".. to make a very special moment in time.. ..it's never about proving something, but it's about sharing something."

    Ah, wisdom.

  • God I love Beethoven

  • LOL when I saw the black guy in the first few seconds of the movie, I was like, "what the heck?! that's no yo-yo ma!" and then the movie kept playing and I saw him, and I was like "oh."

  • LOL

  • wow he's so good i'm too intimidated to even desire learning the cello, but then, the music's so beautiful I still want to ^_^

  • LOOVE

  • Wow! i play the cello to but i can only wish that i was as good as YoYo ma

  • me too

  • this man is my whole inspiration and my life goal is to me just like him someday

he still insits to learn more too!

i love how he moves to and with his cello

    an amazing man truly

    TRUST

    SNAPE

  • same here

  • great

  • Se parece al nieto adoptivo de Evelyn Harpen en Two and a Half Men.

  • ha ha ha ha. que comico!!!

  • I couldn't help but laugh at this comment. Ha-ha.

  • @GeGeMus12 he get all dem bitches xD

  • @GeGeMus12 lol?

  • that's the best part in Yo-yo Ma's DVD.

the spontaneously emotional flow from Mcferrin is really incredible.

i have goose bumps every time i hear him sing

    No.7

  • Yes, the sharing, Isha, is the true driving force impowering the work of learning.

  • geniuses at work

  • Maravilhoso

  • yo yo ma is a beast!!!!!!

  • Why is he getting voted down???

Hes the best cellist alive today.....

  • and boby.....

  • my music teachers takes classes with bobby mcferrin. Last Year 2008 my teacher was gone for a long time learning from him. Bobby mcCferrin and Yo-Yoma rule. Check out Yo yo ma prelude.

  • I think it's an adaptation from the second movement of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony.

  • What's the piece Yo-Yo Ma's playing at the start of this video please?

  • some of the best advice and wisdom for any body, especially musicians.....both Yo Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin are geniuses!

  • this is the first video i have ever seen both Yo Yo Ma and Bobby Mcferrin in. It led me to love Yo Yo Ma's music. Then much later i came back to it again and now i also love Bobby's music. This one video has opened many woProxy-Connection: keep-alive

    Cache-Control:

  • 2:05-2:25 wow, that has actually changed my life as well, and 5:20-5:40, my most favorite quote ever, i live by his words

  • lol

    bobby

  • Aww, the embedding is disabled. :( This is such a wonderful video!

  • I love Yo-Yo! He is one of my favorite cellists and definitely my foremost inspiration for playing! Bobby McFerrin is just plain awesome. It's also way cool to see Mark O'Connor and Edgar Meyer playing with Yo-Yo and Bobby on the Mockingbird song.

  • The piece right in the beginning is the second movement to Beethoven's 7th Symphony. Puchalaka and xAeR0SmitHx got it right a few comments ago.

  • what is the first song name?

    it's a really deep melody.

  • aahhh.. young hair style :)

  • hmz...so the startin piece is from beethoven's 7th? this is their own special arrangement? or are there ready arrangements like thiS? for ensemble?

  • A well-rounded cellist

  • isn't the beginning Death of Ase by Grieg

  • No, it's Beethoven's Seventh, second movement.

  • I play the Viola, but then when I start to play it really good, I just might learn Cello to. You know, you have to master one instrument before you begin another.

  • same here!

  • not the same here!

  • why not?

  • cus i play the piano!

  • Oh, LOL. I do too!! haha. I play both the viola and the piano, but I get you. haha

  • is the viola the hardest of al string instruments?

  • I think the viola is one of the easier instruments for me. Although there is alot of shifting at times

  • i think it's violin

  • i play thecello so i have no idea i dont play viola or violin so i have no idea but cello u have to press the strings hard on the c string because it the thickest

  • It depends on the person who plays it. Your physical skills and mental skills will determinate what instrument is better for you.

  • The beginning sounds like the theme song for the movie "The Fall"

  • i used to be a violin player but Yo-Yo Ma has inspired me to play cello. i just love the way a cello sounds :)

  • Who's the lady?

  • beautiful!!!

  • Yo-Yo Ma is such a cutie.

  • This speaks so much truth to me. his comment on sharing. The simbiatic relationship between the audience and performer . The two meet and interconnect. Each a recipient swept up in the magical moment.

  • not to be a dick or anything, but way the hell up

  • This makes me want to play the cello again...

  • beethoven symphony #7 II:Allegretto

  • what song did they play at the beginning? it sounds so familiar

  • Figlio Perduto. I recognized it too :)

  • Sarah Brightman's version of the song is called Figlio Perduto. The original is Beethovens 7th symphony, 2nd movement.

  • yep, Allegretto

I played it with my middle school orchestra years ago

  • This is why non musicians love Yo-Yo as well, he is so humble and open to "crossovers", I think all classical musicians should take note and be open to all genres!

  • (no words)!!!!!

  • Why does he never talk about his sister? id she pass away and it's a touchy subject for him or does he just not talk about her?

  • i played in his sisters orchestra and i know that yeou cheng is very proud of yo yo...im sure that yo yo still maintains a good relationship with his sister they are both great people...he also went to my concert a few years ago so im pretty sure that they are still close

  • How do you know he never talks about her?

Do you stalk him wherever he goes? - He doesn't need to talk about his sister on television.. Because it's irrellevant to why he's on the television at the first place! ;)

  • Any one knows is there are a DVD of this records I would like to have the complete of 7 simpony II movement beethoven with this two big musicians

  • Nice!!

  • yo yo ma so amazing his work is beautiful! 5/5

  • good stuff, I am a fan of yoyo ma's as well. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing awesome musicians having fun making beautiful music together.

  • i used to play cello before, i'm also a fan of yo-yo ma...

  • it seems like they are having so much fun.... I am mixed with jealousy and admiration.

  • I love your playing it is So beautiful

  • I met Bobby at the Ansel Adam photo gallery in san francisco once, while visiting the many art gallery in san francisco with my fiance,i got bobby to autograph my t-shirt,told him what a big fan i am of his song entitled " don't worry be happy" i turn to my fiance and i was like " babe do you know who this man is " ? my fiance was like yes he's a human being now leave the man alone, now let go visit SFMOMA ( san francisco museum of mordern art )before they close. ;))

  • bobby has gr8 sound effects

    :P

  • OMG im also a cello player and yoyo ma is the person i look up to as a musician.....he is the best.....i am only 17 and ive been playing foe 6-7 years.....and im not good yet...

  • does anybody know if they every did a final piece of the song in the beginning (i think it was beethovens 7th symphony, 2nd movement.), or were they just playing around?

  • The beginning piece is awesome (Beethoven's 7th, II mvt.). Were they just messing around, or is there actually a recording of the full movement somewhere (in this arrangement)?

  • what a pure voice, both of them have immeasurebale amt of talent
