As far as the 100 million Africans taken from the continent. THat is plausible let me explain. When people hear "taken" they assume that these Africans arrived to the new world. Keep in mind, untold numbers would have died along the passage within Africa, on the coast, on the seas, and in the villages due to related conflicts.

This meant that the European was constantly using up his "resources" and need to kidnap more Africans to make up for this. This would set the above process in to motion once again. You also have to remember that the official totals only count those who were "legally" imported, not those smuggled in.
With the fact that this"trade" went on for ~ 500 years, and also taking into account those taken and forced to work in Asia, Europe, India and the Middle east, 100 million ( i.e. the total number of africans taken from the continent via kidnapping, death or both) is VERY plausible.
And of couse those smuggled in would have the same path, but with higher causalities b/c the usual "precautions" could not have been taken w/o fear of capture.

Whose estimate is closer to correct and whose estimate is not correct is a specious argument. The discussion should be around the damage that was done to the enslaved and to the home from which they were taken.

It was not until the Atlantic Trade that Africans became the choice, Many reasons for this, During this time the Ottoman Turks controlled the Arab World and banned Trade of White Caucasian Slaves, the Japanaese began to ban trade of their people in slavery and the Pope banned the trading of Anglos, Africans were the only people not to ban trade of their people.

Not true, the Songhay Empire offered protection to its citizens from enslavement. Some were still captured however. Remember "African" is a term that describes thousands of ethnic groups and millions of people. its very well known that less then 700,000 Africans were brought as slaves to the what is now the United States, starting in 1619 to1865, the population in 1865 was around 4 million. Currently there are around 38 Million African American descendants in the united states. kinda blows your theory out of the water. And FYI native Americans and Freed Blacks were also Slave owners. so stop crying. Most of the white people in the US today have immigrated here well after the end of slavery in 1865

As far as the 100 million Africans taken from the continent. THat is plausible let me explain. When people hear "taken" they assume that these Africans arrived to the new world. Keep in mind, untold numbers would have died along the passage within Africa, on the coast, on the seas, and in the villages due to related conflicts.

@behinddacurtain You also have to remember that the average lifespan for an African in the W.I duing this time period was about 25 years for male, 27-28 females. This meant that the European was constantly using up his "resources" and need to kidnap more Africans to make up for this. This would set the above process in to motion once again. (Local kidnapping, transport across continent, held in 'castles', transport across sea. With countless individuals dying at this point.)

You also have to remember that the official totals only count those who were "legally" imported, not those smuggled in.
With the fact that this"trade" went on for ~ 500 years, and also taking into account those taken and forced to work in Asia, Europe, India and the Middle east, 100 million ( i.e. the total number of africans taken from the continent via kidnapping, death or both) is VERY plausible.

You missed my point. When he is talking about how many were taken, he isn't simply referring to the "Transatlantic Slave Trade". He's referring to the Africans who were taken to Asia, the Middle East, India as well as Europe.
These trades went on for centuries with countless Africans perishing as a result. These Africans MUST be counted as those taken from the continent.
This makes the number plausible.

I don' t know if the point of the discussion of the African slave trade is to argue about the exact numbers. We will never know the exact number, we can only estimate. Whose estimate is closer to correct and whose estimate is not correct is a specious argument. The discussion should be around the damage that was done to the enslaved and to the home from which they were taken.

My country has a history of slave trade. in the old trade books i found out that the slaves where victims of tribal wars in africa and where slaves of a tribe,planned to be murdered. so the black chiefs sold them to the europeans. who treated the slaves bad but not as bad as there former slave holders.

Why did other African tribes' trade there own African prisoners taken during warring faction fighting with slave traders? The world ignores this fact that if there were no slaves offered for sale by other African tribes there would have not been a slave trade in the first place. That isnt true. 'Slavery' in Africa was not torcherous and dehumanizing. It was sort of like unwillfully working to repay debts. Slavery at the hands of the savage white man was beyond dehumanizing.

When I go to my predominantly Black country, I feel great to see faces like mine.
