One of my favourite Roy Wood compositions but Graham's version is absolutely terrific. What brilliant vocals. What a shame it isn't available on CD. Thank you for posting this version .
This is a terrific version by a terrific singer. But the guy who said that Roy Wood's version sucks has a very strange ear for music. Personally, I think Wood's version has much more feeling, moving seamlessly between half and full voice. Great song!
I don't talk about the volume of the voice, it can be loud or soft, but especially in the first verse, he rather draws the notes up from a bit below. That's what I mean with "slimy".
BTW, I strongly doubt that he has the loudest voice ever.
I can get what you meen, the first verse sounds a little bit generic. But the rest of it is just besutiful! don't think a heard a better voval ever. And if I had one guess on the loudest voice I'd put my money on Graham =)
Bonnet is an Australian singer. Originally, in the 1960's, he was a Bee Gees protege, singing with a Righteous Brothers-influenced duo "Marbles", who had one big hit with "Only One Woman". Later, he became a heavy metal singer with the group's Rainbow(one album) & Alcatrazz(3 studio albums & one live album). Contrary to frequently printed reports, he is not a cousin of The Bee Gees.
He's actually from Skegness, UK, and the Australian thing stems from his success there, his wife is Australian and he spent some time there in late 80's but he's a Brit. he lives in LA, California nowadays.
Do not forget the excellent Michael Schenker album Assault Attack. One of Bonnets best. His voice is one of a kind. No one hits the power highs like Bonnet. Thank You for sharing the music for those who have not heard this like myself.
I'd never actually heard of Graham Bonnet before coming across this video but, being a lifelong E.L.O. fan, I'm very familiar with this song. I must say I'm blown away with this version and think I prefer it to the original! Thanks so much for posting it. Now if I could only find the record somewhere!

THIS cover of "WITN" is one zillion % better than that horrid(and nothing but)pile of shit that Roy Wood sang(and stunk)lead on!

Well, I like the original version much better... No need to be rude here.
This version lacks bit of originality. The voice sounds so slimy... The instrumentation is just standard... meh.

Where can I find this. What album is this from. Truley beautiful Roy Wood cover.
ireibrabdivad 3 years ago
It was only available on 7" vinyl in 1972, and was not on any albums. Best way to find a copy is eBay.
