Yes, it is a tenor fluke. I think that the sound is fine, although there are ukueles that sound better. What's great about it for me is that it is very robust - I feel perfectly comfortable about taking it with me when camping for example.
So if you are just going to play it at home, then a different uke is probably a slightly better choice, otherwise the fluke is great value for the money.

I'd say my guitare skills are about the same level as my uke skills. I'm not sure I will do covers on guitar, as there are others who can do that so much better. However, I have at least one half-finished original song on guitare that I will post whenever I manage to finish it.
