As soon as the embargo gets lifted all these non Cuban companies are screwed, I'm from Australia & all real cigar smokers here only smoke Cubans & as soon as they're allowed so will Americans.
You guys this is a great cigar with a Real Ale Brewhouse Brown Ale or a Real Ale Full Moon Pale Rye Ale. If you can't get Real Ale in your area, I feel sorry for you.
but i thought that romeo and julieta was a cuban brand? why do i see many montecristo and r&j reviews on youtube? (i'm very sorry, but i'm new to cigars)
@DMR90Guitar There are Cuban versions and non-Cuban versions of many brands. Those who were exiled from Cuba, and had their brands and factories seized, essentially took their names with them, as they felt they had the right to them.
It will provide for a lot of lawsuits when/if the embargo is lifted. One just got ruled last week regarding t he Cohiba name.
A tobacconist recommended it to me when I asked about good cigars for beginners, as I'm kind of new to the cigar world. I just bought myself one, and I'm so excited to smoke it now! Great review.
This was my first real cigar (I usually smoke a pipe) and thought it was just awesome. The flavor was amazing. I'd definitely have one again. Do you have any recommendations for a fledgling cigar smoker?
@Tangledupintheblue If you want to start off with a milder cigar one of my favorites is the Gran Habano 3sls or also known as the tres siglos. My recommendation for medium cigars is H. Upmann, my fav the vintage cameroon(difficult to find but i have two boxes). And for something stronger i would recommend la aroma de cuba. Very dark deep rich nicaraguan blend with a spicy leather taste. Any from Ashton Cohiba Montecristo Partagas H. Upmann i would highly recommend because they are my favorites.
Would the "real" Romeo y Julieta please stand up....is it the Dominican or the Cuban? I've only ever had the Cubans...curious to try these "other" ones.
Have you tried Retrohaling (partially out through the nose)? I found it gives a wider range of flavor that your tongue doesn't pick up, not too much that It stings your nose... takes a bit of practice to get it right but well worth it!
I got through the spice after about a half inch in, and then it really got soft and creamy almost. I picked up a fiver, and noticed that the second one I burned had a lot more spice and didnt have as smooth a finish . . . did you try more than the one?
The RyJ Habana Reserve is an excellent Non-Cuban RyJ...I've had a couple of them recently and was extremely impressed with its flavor profile and strength. Very good review.
i have tons of those cigars

@Tangledupintheblue I would perhaps start with a corona sized Ashton or an Ashton maduro.

I've just had the one so far, and I did experience the same slight creamy flavor about a third of the way in, which was lovely.
