I love City Airport but i can imagine that the noise is pretty intolerable. Did they not give you guys triple glazing and other sound proofing to help with the noise? I realise that it won't cut out all of the noise but it would help surely?
Nicely shot and edited video by the way, especially the sunset ending.
Are you kidding? Anyhow, tell me how I double glaze my garden.
Folk living in council housing right nearby have to take the matter up with the chairman of Newham housing - Richard Gooding, who also happens to be,.,.,,CEO of LCY. Couldn't make it up, could you?
just think... in the cockpits of each of these are some incredibally capable, intelligent and very welol, trained proffesional pilots. Planes are glorious, but most on the market currently are NOTHING without those (incredible) men and women in the cockpits
exactly the same with Plymouth City Airport EGHD , only 1 airline with Dash 8's serves there Air southwest and they are making huge profits although its the recession
Ha ha. Who are you kidding? Passenger traffic is way down, and good thing too.
I'll give BA's JFK service a month at most.
Every one of the planes in this vid has come in, and will take off again over the roofs of thousands of people's homes in the most densely populated part of Europe.
Well bully for you. If you chose to live under it then fine.
I moved to be away from plane noise, and to use your parlance "it's a fucking outrage" they should stick LCY's flightpath over my roof with virtually no consultation. Great for you sad flight-o-philes, but a disgrace for the many who hate the things.
LCY should never have opened, and certainly shld not hve been allowed to expand by stealth. There is a legal challenge in the wings and I will be contributing,
There are pros and cons to having the airport located where it is. One of the reasons that LCY was built where it was it was claimed is because most of the people living nearby worked in the city and thus would not be at home to be disturbed by the noise. The airport closes a earlier than most airports and also closes from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning.
If you wish to continue debating this topic please don't refer to people who like planes as flight-o-philes and no swearing!
My expletive was parodying the poster to whom I was replying - spot the speech marks?
Most of the people who live closest to LCY are in council housing and are certainly not CIty fatcats. Their complaints are ignored by the chairman of Newham Housing, Richard Gooding who just also happens to be CEO of...LCY. Fancy that.
The noise from LCY does not stop at the end of the runway and that it closes around 9 and Sat PM/Sun AM is little compensation for the racket we have to put up at other times.
No sign of that . I hear average loading on BA001 is 8. Ha bloody ha.
Newham/LCY have by no means got away yet with their expansion. There's a legal challenge, and the boroughs of Redbridge, Waltham Forest and Tower Hamlets have all passed motions UNANIMOUSLY condemning Newham's arrogant decsion. One thing's for certain - LCY's plan for 170,000 flights (on their website) is a dead duck.
Why should hundreds of thousands of Londoners suffer for the convenience of a handful of City fatcats?
Note that I said 'will' not have! - At the moment there is 94,599 movments a year this serves 3,260,236 (not exactly a handful of people 14 times the population of newham) and makes Newham councill loads! Looking at the development that London City had - It was allowed 4 more parking stands (around 2001) I live on the base leg of the airport so get a/c flying over my house at about 1400ft when they are using runway 09.
With the first flight arriving at 0715 and the last being 2030 surely thes
Seeing as that is 18,599 over (previous) legal max, and Newham did feck all about it says all you need to know about the corruption.
And yes, it does affect me. They may be twice as high over me, but it has ruined the tranquility of my neighbourhood. If you move to the end of the runway, you know what you're getting. I moved here because it was NOT under the flightpath. They have moved it with no consultation.

Newham is a corrupt, rotten, one-party state.

I LOVE the video, but I don't like the music being played over the aircraft sounds.
IntlAviationGroup 3 years ago
Too windy sometimes to make the natural soundtrack worth keeping. So a blend of the aircraft sounds and music was my thinking!

Ok. No hard feelings, right? I just love the sound of aircraft engines and all that.

LCA was built to accomodate quick and convenient access to city for the business traveller.
The airport is situated closely to the business district of the city and provides a hassle free connection.
Heathrow is large and a good distance away from the city, amongst the business traveller it is hughly inconvenient and time wasting.
London city offers short distance flights and quick check in times, and is the desired airport for the short or impatient traveller to the city.

Why would you need london city when you already have heathrow.
h5liu 3 years ago
Because London city is in the heart of the city and is great for business eg cargo for shops ect

true.... even inspite of the financial collapse and recession.... london city has huge amounts of passenger trade from the financial industry!
