  • Im in a premier jazz ensemble with Gary and Jeff both!

  • which scale is the guitarist playing for example ?

  • @GeneralEisenhower Uhhh... from what I was taught, he would not be using any particular scale throughout the whole song, but rather many different scales, each one dependent on the chord that is being played. So he'd have many different scales and modes.

  • Gary Grippo for President :-)

  • i like the bass solo, seems tough to keep the rythm at that spot, sounds good just turn the people volume down-:)

  • wow.this guitar is nice tone.so cool.

  • that was pretty epic

  • thaat was great. awesome bassist

  • although this clip was brought to my attention as 'music to be ignored', it definitely shouldn't be. these guys are great, especially gary. still smokin' after all these years.

  • Great performance, loving it. Thanks

  • Really swinging without drums. More bands should groove like this!

  • lol is that bass player sitting? cats don't sit!!

  • This guitar player is really good though.

  • very good musicians...and mainly the bass player (in the middle) he does the rhythm and the bass simultaneously...

    very nice

  • Sounds really great. Especially L-5! Their harmony is very impressive. I love this tune.

  • Why don't they play Happy Birthday? Those idiots yakking would never know the difference. I hate to play these type gigs. Usually I'm filling in for someone who is sick or something. Why they want live musicians at these functions is beyond me. Play the iPod through the house P. A. system. These braindeads would never know the difference. Geez, don't everyone applaud at once. What a drag, but it pays the rent. Art for art's sake. Money for crissake.

  • Weird. I studied in that library for four years and I never noticed there was a jazz trio playing.

  • the problem with these corporate gigs(which sounds like it is with all the chatter in the background) is that it makes really good musicians like these seem a little bored which makes them a little complacent and therefore probably shouldn't be posted up there with greats like Jim hall. His version with Ron carter is my favorite.

  • Fabulous. I love this tune. Nice understated guitar work, very lyrical.

  • Well done my group is almost as good we played that tune at the AQ in MN but sax/bass/guitar nice solo all of you and the ending was just FANTASTIC great job.

  • I doubt many people appreciate this video being tagged with the names of the greats. I know i didnt.

  • you'll live.

  • @Siceburg

    Agreed.

  • The Bass is very very quiet.

  • The bassist is my jazz teacher!

  • Impressive collective sound, especially the L5 !

  • Man the bassist has some big skill

  • The most on it one is the bassist, then maybe the saxophonist. Guitar needed to loosen up - i guess it was because he was reading the sheet. Great sound over all

  • @ResearchMachine Who reads a chart for Autumn Leaves?

If you play jazz you can play autumn leaves in any key.

  • Nice groove.
