Thanks for the memories. I saw the chimpanzee theater just a few years later. As an adult, I was somewhat surprised to learn that history now regards this period as an unenlightened, cruel time for the chimps. The theater is no more, and the few references to it are apologetic. Makes me feel like I was laughing and cheering for a bear-baiting.
My mother shot the footage on a 8mm film camera and recently I transferred the footage and edited the clip, mostly a little color correcting. This was a class trip in 1962 to the Detroit Zoo.

Oh my God, I can't believe this. I started crying when the video ended. I went to Simonds Elementary about 6 years ago, I miss it!
