    -Demon Hunter fan

  • intresting :) i like it

  • Grappig, leuk. Ook in Nederland is hier, door mij gekeken en vindt het: Funny, nice.

  • Ok covers of original songs aren't supposed to make them sound better.... The lead singer would most likely give birth if he saw this, I almost did... Great cover!!!

  • Wow, you really think so? Thank you very much. You are too kind, I'm sure! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • @InevidibleMe dude.. you just made my day :')

  • Oooh wow...Pretty

  • Thank you!

  • Interesting touch! :)

I say you could pull off some awesome Johnny Cash with a voice like that!

    Well done!

  • Thank you very much. Yeah, I've done several Johnny Cash songs. I'm a big fan of his, so thank you for the kind comparison!

  • I started laughing when you came on screen with your... (Sorry, not sure what to call it) But your voice is AMAZING!

  • Wow. Thank you! I know the instrument doesn't look like much, but it's great. I really enjoy it. Glad you liked my singing!

  • This is so beautiful. I love your voice, you almost sound like a folk or country singer.

I was so close to tears. Your cover touched me so much. Thank you.

  • My goodness! High praise indeed. Does my heart good. :) Thank you so much!

  • dude, not bad, not bad at all!

  • Thanks!

  • Dude, i have never seen anything like this before. Amazing, truly amazing. And your voice is great btw. DH is by far my favorite band of all time. Rock on.

  • Thank you so much. It always means a lot when a compliment comes from a DH fan. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good job!

  • Thank you very much!

  • That one guy was right, though. There is a country-ish twist. I may hate country music but it's a good thing in this case. You imparted some of yourself in the song. A lot of folks do covers and don't sound any different. I fail to see why I would want to hear the exact same thing as the original band released on their own album.

Also, if you do want to cover Carry Me Down, I'm sure you're aware by now that DH released acoustic versions of that and Fading Away with the "45 Days" documentary.

  • Yeah, I think the country vibe comes from the slightly twangy tone of the instrument and perhaps that I'm from Texas, though I've very little accent. I haven't gotten "45 Days" yet, but I will soon. I will try to crank out another DH cover, though. Just for you. :) Warning: it may take a while. But I'll try.

  • I look forward to it. It says on Blessed Resistance that DH is going to do an acoustic concert soon so I hope they do Thorns and someone records it. They did it once before but the recording stopped halfway through the song. That version is floating around Youtube -- maybe you could use it for inspiration?

  • You have some pipes on you. It's impossible to inject too much emotion into this song. It's the ultimate love-song.

Demon Hunter is the ultimate band.

This is the ultimate cover. I was actually just saying to my girlfriend that there are no good Demon Hunter covers on YouTube right as I was pressing the link to this one. I was proven wrong within 30 seconds.

    Do more DH. Nao.

  • That is the best compliment I've gotten so far on this video. Thank you very much. Comments from DH fans are always very encouraging! You are too kind in my opinion, of course, but I thank you very much.

  • nice job man!! Sweet instrument its different!! Everyone please check out my video response to this vid thanks and again nice job dude!

  • Thanks for the compliment and nice cover yourself!

  • Thanks man!!

  • you sound good! good cover.

  • Thank you!

  • i think thats a lute.... correct me if im wrong, good job tho buddy.

  • its pretty good dude, you have a lot of guts to do this cover and it sounded pretty good.

  • Well, thank you very much!

  • that's music

  • Well, that's a compliment! Thanks. :)

  • omg this is sooo awesome man Kevin your amazing i listen to this everyday its my fav. song and its amazing when you did it!!!!! =)

  • and for a one man garage man that sounded awesome!!! great job! =)

  • That's a comment! :) Thanks.

  • Awesome. I love your singing, and the music is great too. Awesome twist on this song, and I think it fits perfectly.

  • I appreciate that very much. Thanks for watching!

  • awsome cover

  • Thank you!

  • Hey man great playing. Great twist on a great song. You're singing is awesome and the mix is great

  • I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for the kind words.

  • good job man

  • Thanks, man.

  • this was a great cover man different but in a good way. You got a lot of talent I bet you could hook up with a band or go solo in a heartbeat keep it up

  • Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • dude you are really talented you should be in a band

  • Thank you very much!

  • Hey man thats a awsome cover and your singing is Great. Loved it. Hope you get in a band. (if your not already)

  • Thanks very much! No, I'm not in a band. Maybe sometime. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Dude you should become a lead singer you're awesome! I subscribed! :P

  • Thanks! I really appreciate the compliment and the subscription. I'm not sure how soon I'll be fronting a band, but thanks for the vote of confidence! :)

  • hey dude your great.. i love it.. will you do me a favor though.. i have a few demon hunter vocal covers on my page.. will you rate and comment.. thank you.. they need some views and comments.. but man your awesome at singning and playing

  • That sounds so great! And a different twist on it too. If only I could get my husband to do this. XD

  • Thank you very much! The twist is Demon Hunter's as they recorded an acoustic version of the song first, but I suppose my instrument is its own twist. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Yeah, I have the Tryptich Special Edition with the acoustics on it. ^-^ But your instrument is definitely different (what is it exactly?) and you have a little of your own spin in the way you sing. :D

  • this is great.

this is what covers should be like.

    different.

    yet awsome

  • Thank you! As I'm doing a lot of covers, I appreciate that very much.

  • dang, nice dude, good singin man, super awesome great job

  • Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

  • Oh my gosh! You really can sing. That's my friend Kevin...The song is great too. I'd never heard it before now. Thanks for introducing me to something good yet again.

  • Aw shucks, ma'am! You're too kind, dear. Thanks for your support! I will be checking out your channel, too. Glad to see you here. :)

  • Gr8 Job Dude.

  • Thank you! :)

  • This is the last song I would ever have expected to be played on a strum stick, but it was awesome. It makes me want to learn. Are they especially similar to guitar?

  • Hey, I'm glad you liked it! Thanks! It's actually pretty different from a guitar, though somewhat related. Where a guitar has six strings and is chromatically fretted, this instrument has three strings and is diatonically fretted.

  • Damm Good , it was really really good good job dude

  • Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate it!

  • i really liked it really good job

  • Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • sound good!

  • Thank you very much!

  • OMG THAT FREAKIN RULED!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

  • Beautiful job man!

Your face at the very end was priceless btw.

  • Thanks very much! Yeah, it was finally a successful take on a new arrangement after many failed attempts. Very satisfying! :)

  • oh yeah, i was looking for some guitar covers and i saw this... is awesome!

Btw... what instrument are you playing?

  • Are you ever going to cover some more softer Demon Hunter songs? Like Carry Me Down or The Tide Began to Rise?

  • I've got several more songs on the way, though technical issues, etc., have kept me from making videos for a while. So far none of them are Demon Hunter songs, but I hope to include more of them in the future.

  • Oh ok, cool! Good luck with the others!

  • Nice, if u had a assist ur band will be complete, nice instrument!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. A band would be fun. Someday, maybe. :)

  • i like very much, grettings from brazil

  • Thank you! Greetings from the U.S.A.!

  • Oh! great!

You have a great voice. Take advantage of her while you still have her. hahaha...

  • Doin' my best. Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! :)

  • This is really goo. AWESOME vocals!! Are you a baritone?

  • Thank you very much! I guess I'm a baritone/tenor. My range is from a step or so short of the bottom of Johnny Cash's range to right at the top of Bono's. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words!

  • Yeah, you're a baritone. You're welcome, but a cover like this should require a thank you for kind words

  • I can't play any instrument. I was just kidding. :P

  • Oh. Well. Nevermind, then!! ;) It's a good idea, though!

  • Maybe I should do this with a greek instrument, bouzouki for example! xD

Man, you're good! Vocals, insutrument (how do we call it?)... Nice!!!

  • That would be very interesting! Please let me know if you do that. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the kind words. :) The builder - SmokeyMountainDulcimer(dot)com calls this a Strum Stick. That's a trademarked name, though, so I (rather jokingly) call it a Notastrumstick. The whole sordid affair is explained in my "This is NOT a Strum Stick!" video. It's a bit sad. Sorry! Long answer to a simple question. Thanks again!

  • Good Job .. was great

    Greetings from Brazil

  • Thanks! Greetings from the U.S.!

  • wow demon hunter gone country lol awsome job man keep it up

  • Glad you enjoyed it! It's based on their own acoustic recording of the song, which appears on the Special Edition CD of 'The Triptych.' Theirs is, of course, much better. Thanks for watching!

  • Hey! Really nice job :)

    Greetings from sweden

  • Thank you very much! Greetings right back from Texas!

  • that was nice playing and singing and i dont no wat instrument that is so please reply and tell me and since ure description is so long i couldnt be bothered reading it lol cuz u might of sed it in the thing

  • Wow, I thought I had replied to this. It's called a strum stick by the guy who built it. His name is Blaine Horlocker. Check him out at smokeymountaindulcimer(dot)com.

  • Wow dude that was sweet! Good Job!

  • Thank you! For watching and commenting!

  • great job on vocals and i love the acoustic sound

  • Thanks very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • your cool

  • Thanks.

  • dude your awesome you should go pro oh by the way it was great and i love hardmetal ps. are you a chrishtin i am just wandering you seam like 1 though

  • If you knew how many takes it took to get this video done, you'd know why I'm not going pro! ;) Yes. And thank you. :)

  • strange to hear 1 of my favorite songs played this way. but its quite addicting hehe. bravo..

  • Glad you like it! Check out the Special Edition of "The Triptych" for DH's far superior original acoustic version!

  • great playing. 5/5 btw,what chords?

  • Thanks very much! I actually couldn't tell you the chords because I just picked it out. I'm starting right now to officially learn what chord corresponds with what fingering on this instrument. It's very different from playing standard guitar chords. I've had several requests for that info and I may do a tutorial video to show how I played it and let you guitar guys figure out what the corresponding chords are!

Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching, commenting and rating!!

  • I can't friggin believe it! You actually took a Demon Hunter song, changed the vibe and the mood, and it was still cool. Well, what can I say? I am way beyond impressed! Excellent!

  • I greatly appreciate your kind words. I will say, however, that I can't take too much credit, as it is based on the acoustic version that appears on the Special Edition of "The Triptych," which I very highly recommend. But I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!

  • Interesting, what instrument is that?

  • Well, it's a strum stick by Blaine Horlocker. I'm not supposed to call it that, but that's what he calls it. Fore more information, check out my videos "The Strum Stick" and "This is NOT a Strum Stick". I believe both (but certainly the latter) have links to where you can get one. I highly recommend it!

  • lol... i already have an ibanez artwood, a squire dreadnaught, a Johnson piece of junk, and a washburn electric wih a peavey amp, but.. heck... maybe if these are cheap i'll look into it.. lol

  • buddy, excellent job. keep it up. god bless!

  • Thank you very much! I'll be back to playing again soon!

  • This is a wicked cover! You do it justice. \m/_ Rock on dude. DH rock and the new album is fantastic.

  • Thank you very much! Does my heart good. Yes, I love the new record. I hope to be able to cover something from it! Glad you enjoyed this one.

  • I'd say Thorns would be a good one. Or Carry Me Down. Looking forward to when they finally release the video for that one.

  • I've thought about both if those, actually. And I agree a "Carry Me Down" video seems inevitable and would be fantastic. I'm always ready for more fro DH!

  • They've filmed the video. Its in the post production stage and is meant to be premiered on Headbangers Ball on MTV2 at some point.

  • That's great! I can't wait to see it!

  • WOW!!! Great cover!! I love it! Amazing!

  • Wow! Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it. More music coming soon...

  • cool! i'll be watching for it

  • Excellent cover, one of my personal favorite songs EVER. 5 stars.

  • Well, thank you very much! It's always great to get compliments from fellow DH fans. Thanks for the rating and the good words!

  • what key is that not strumstick in?

  • It's in D. The three strings are tuned D-A-D.

  • I've been thinking of getting a G strumstick. I'm in a folk-pop band, and thought it would be cool.

I'm not really sure I'm going to get one though, I'm really terrible at playing instruments. Is it really as incredibly easy as McNally claims? (I know yours isn't a McNally, but I would assume it's about the same difficulty)

  • Yes, it's easy to get started. I'm a percussionist and vocalist, though I played violin for a year when I was a kid. Otherwise, I'm not a stringed instrument player. I've been at it nearly a year and a half, but in my first week I probably learned 15 songs just picking out melodies and playing.

I'll say this. The Horlocker that I play has much better tone, resonance and volume and is cheaper than McNally's by a pretty good chunk. E-mail and I'd be glad to help you find what you're looking for.

  • dude ur awesome with that... guitar thing... hmm no clue what it is... lol well what ever it is ur good with it

  • It's a strumstick. And it's not. See my video "This is NOT a Strum Stick!" for all the seedy details.

  • wow.. im genuenly impressed.. nice job! i loved it!

  • Well, thank you very much! I'm genuinely appreciative!

  • and nice vocals, too! ;)

  • Thank you very much! The instrument is actually a...well, I don't know what to call it! It's supposed to be strum stick, but that violates a trademark, so I call it a Notastrumstick. It's a 3-stringed, diatonically fretted instrument with many interchangeable names. See my video "This is NOT a Strum Stick!" Anyway, thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • you're great with that banjo-guitar

  • that is awesome, nice job :)

    i enjoyed it a lot!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll be doing more videos soon.

  • very good!!!

  • Thank you! :)

  • wow!!!! that is a really neat version of it!!! 5 stars man!!!

  • Thanks for watching and starring!!

  • Vocals sound very different but not in a bad way. Great job.

  • Well, thanks. I'm glad they're not bad! :)

  • I enjoyed this very much.

  • Thank you! I enjoyed playing it. :)

  • Woah! Demon Hunter goes country!!!! lol But really you rock dude!

  • Hey, two for the price of one! ;)

  • Woah! Demon Hunter goes country!! Awesome lol! But really you rock! Wish I could do that >.>

  • I do my best. Yeah, ditto here on the 'country' twist. It's not really my doing (see previous comment). And I'm sure you could do it! A year ago, I'd never have been able to play this. This is a very accessible instrument with a wide range and lots of possibilities! Pick one up and give it a shot!

  • where could i pick up this instrument... order it online, would a music store have it locally?? and its a strum stick?? right?

  • Go to smokeymountaindulcimer(dot)com or search ebay under "strum stick" and look for the one with this body style. It's from the ebay seller Smokey Mountain Music Works (same guy). I don't think he has one on ebay right now, though, so your best bet is his website.

  • Very Nice cover, a cover with a different twist. Good voice for this song too. BTW demon hunter rocks... god bless bro!

  • Thanks! I'm gad you enjoyed it. It's actually based on their acoustic version of the song, which appears on the Deluxe Edition of 'Triptych'. So, I can't take much credit for the 'twist.' But I'm glad you liked it!

  • I hate that kind of music, but im not dissing you because your good at it baby. You rock, in a

    you know, country sorta way.

  • Okay. Thanks! I guess. It's...not really a country song, you know. But I guess this is a folksy instrument. Anyway, thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it(?).

  • You have a really good voice. Learn the guitar - it's no hard! Start with an open tuning like DADF#AD and it's not that different from the strum stick.
